A residência do lago Āraiši é um local turístico com vestígios originais e reconstruídos da pré-história da Letônia. É um sítio arqueológico único de importância nacional, com vestígios de assentamentos fortificados da Latgália dos séculos IX a X. Hoje, a residência do lago foi parcialmente reconstruída e os visitantes podem ver edifícios pré-históricos de madeira da Latgália reconstruídos. Durante as escavações foram descobertos restos de 151 construções de madeira, com 3.700 artefatos e cerca de cem mil fragmentos de cerâmica. Utilizando dados recolhidos, paralelos etnográficos e réplicas de ferramentas antigas, existem hoje 14 edifícios reconstruídos do primeiro período da construção do povoado fortificado. O site é membro da organização EXARC de museus arqueológicos ao ar livre em toda a Europa.

This was an amazing tour hosted by local Martins who was very knowledgeable and helpful. He provided a great insight into Latvian history. The tour is definitely a must do when staying in Riga. Martins was an 11 out of 10

We had a great day out. Our driver/guide Ivan’s spoke wonderful English and was very informative. He pointed things out and took us to four additional sites for a few minutes. We had just our group on the tour. Our only learning was we should have brought food as there was no lunch stop on the itinerary.

Amazing trip from start to finish. Our guide/driver Andis touched base with us the day before, confirming pick up. He turned up bang on time and ensured we were comfortable before setting off on an amazing day. Throughout the day Andis took account of my sister's mobility issues, parking as close as possible for drop offs and coming back to collect us. Clear instructions throughout, but no pressure. For lunch Andis suggested a fantastic restaurant which coul not be faulted. A knowledgeable and helpful guide, would happily use his services again in future.
