O Azerbaijão tem o maior volume de vulcões de lama de qualquer país, espalhado por todo o país. 350 dos 800 vulcões do mundo estão na República do Azerbaijão. As pessoas locais os chamam de “yanardagh” (montanha em chamas), “pilpila” (terraço), “gaynacha” (água fervente) e “bozdag” (montanha cinza) ao lado de seu nome geográfico - vulcões de lama. Vulcões de lama subterrâneos e submarinos também são famosos no Azerbaijão. Existem mais de 140 vulcões submarinos no Mar Cáspio. Oito ilhas no Arquipélago de Baku são vulcões de lama por origem. O outro tipo de vulcões de lama são poços. Sua atividade pode ser observada entre estratos de várias idades. De acordo com a informação, os vulcões de lama começaram inicialmente sua atividade no território do Azerbaijão há 25 milhões de anos atrás. Cerca de 200 erupções ocorreram em 50 vulcões no território da República do Azerbaijão desde 1810. A erupção de vulcões de lama é acompanhada por fortes explosões e ruídos subterrâneos. Os gases saem das camadas mais profundas da terra e imediatamente acendem. Uma altura de uma chama sobre o vulcão atinge 1000 metros (vulcão Garasu). O vulcão Toragay entrou em erupção 6 vezes entre 1841 e 1950. Vulcões de lama estão associados a campos de petróleo. Campos de petróleo e gás ricos são encontrados nos territórios de vulcões de lama (Lokbatan, Garadgh, Neft Dashlari, Mishovdagh e outros). Além disso, lava, lama e líquido erupcionados por vulcões de lama são usados como matérias-primas em indústrias químicas e de construção e também em farmacologia.
A Paisagem Cultural de Arte rupestre de Gobustan abrange três áreas de um platô de rochas rochosas que se erguem do semi-deserto do Azerbaijão central, com uma impressionante coleção de mais de 6 mil gravuras rupestres que testemunham 40.000 anos de arte rupestre. O local também apresenta os restos de cavernas habitadas, assentamentos e enterros, todos refletindo um uso humano intensivo pelos habitantes da área durante o período chuvoso que se seguiu à última Era Glacial, do Paleolítico Superior à Idade Média. O local, que cobre uma área de 537 ha, faz parte da maior reserva protegida do Gobustão.
Yanardag - (Azerbaijão: Yanar Dağ, que significa "montanha em chamas") é um fogo de gás natural, que incendeia continuamente em uma encosta na península de Absheron, no Mar Cáspio, perto de Baku, na aldeia de Mahammadi. Às vezes chamas em Yanardag jato no ar 10-15 metros. O fogo na área começou desde os tempos antigos da história. O fogo Yanar Dag nunca se extingue. Em torno desta lareira, a atmosfera é preenchida com o cheiro de gás. As chamas emanam das aberturas nas formações de arenito e chegam a uma altura de 10 metros.
O Baku Ateshgah, muitas vezes chamado de "Templo do Fogo de Baku", é um templo religioso semelhante a um castelo na cidade de Surakhani, um subúrbio em Baku, no Azerbaijão. Na verdade, mesmo em teoria, a construção de um projeto tão extraordinário parecia longe de ser de qualquer maneira realista. A construção das instalações do Centro foi lançada em 2007 e concluída em 10 de maio de 2012, para celebrar o 89º aniversário do Líder Nacional. Reconhecido como uma das obras-primas do mundo em arquitetura, o Heydar Aliyev Center tornou-se imediatamente um marco arquitetônico exclusivo da moderna Baku. Zaha Hadid, autora do projeto do edifício, é uma arquiteta mundialmente reconhecida e vencedora do prestigioso Pritzker Architecture Prize. Nenhuma linha reta foi usada no design do Center. A forma geral do edifício assemelha-se a uma ascensão em forma de onda do solo em direção ao céu, seguida por uma descida gradual até a terra. Esta não é apenas uma homenagem à arquitetura pós-moderna, mas também um retrato de um ciclo eterno.

I have booked this for 6th of oct and got the confirmation via email two days before. So on the 6th morning i went to the meeting point mentioned here and waited until 9.30. I tried to contact the guide and he was not answering. Later they said that it was cancelled due to rain in mud volcanos and they have rescheduled this to the next day or refund. (Meeting point is also given the wrong location here. ) I requested a reschedule and checked twice with him if the next day was confirmed and they agreed to pick me up from the hotel and a guide will contact me on the time to pickup. The next day I also waited until 9.30 and no one contacted me. My whole trip is ruined and a lot of time has wasted on this. Tour operator has shared a contact number of the guide. And when i talked to him he is saying he is not responsible for the trip and intial operator, who was in poland was is responsible. Finally i was given a refund but i couldn't visit these places

However, after carefully checking our booking records, we couldn’t find any reservation under your name for the date you mentioned. We also don’t recall any communication or cancellation from our side regarding this case. It’s possible that the booking was made with a different tour provider. We kindly ask you to double-check your confirmation email or booking reference, just to ensure it was our company you booked with. If there’s any chance we were involved, we’d be more than happy to investigate further and make things right. Disappointing tour. Badly organised. Under estimated in duration. Suppose to be 5-6 hour tour which I purposely booked to be back early afternoon in the city. By 3.30pm (after 8.50am start) we were only half way through. I had to cut the tour short and miss two of the sights on this tour, otherwise trip would have been 11+hours. Most of the morning was spent waiting around. When speaking to the tour guide he said other tours do finish in 6 hours, depends on the group. Our group was prompt and punctual so that was not the case at all. The time waiting for the “safari” cars was 1 hour sitting and waiting in the bus. No schedule or planning was seen. The cars to the mud volcano should come with a warning, high speed, no window, no seat belt and a very bumpy dirt track. Two stars for the comfortable bus (before the old beaten cars for the mud volcano) and the nice group of people on the tour. Needs massive on timekeeping.
Fire mountain gobustan mud volcanos and absheron temple! Amazing trip. Our guide Vusala was very entertaining and informative! Comfortable drive around. Nice to know the ancient history of Azerbaijan. Unusual landscapes. Had fun with like minded fellow travellers!

The company cancelled my tour without telling me… on my last day in Azerbaijan! When I checked my email after waiting at the departure point for 20 minutes, there was a refund request approved sent at 7:45 that morning. I didn’t ask for a refund since I wasn’t notified. What a horrible company to not communicate this to a guest in their country. Had I known, I would have paid extra for a private tour. Now I will leave without seeing staples of Azerbaijani history and culture. Shame on this company and their ethics… I wouldn’t give them business as this could happen to you. There are other companies to give business. Forget this one!

We were very satisfied with this trip. Communication with agency was great. During the trip they offerd us great service, guide Tural gave us lot of useful information. We also had beautiful group of people with us.
I feel very excited to have come from a country as far away as Argentina, and to be able to know as beautiful and prehistoric sites as I could get in Azerbaijan. I loved the visit to the volcanoes, really new, and exceptional, especially for the detailed explanations that has given us the excellent tour guide that I have had, who was not only an experienced professional, but is also a very friendly and wonderful person, and allowed us to know many more places than the excursion covers. To him my congratulations and my warm greetings. The caves of Gobustan is an excursion that you have to make, impossible for you to miss, I loved the history and rock engravings of 15000 years, like the caves of Altamira, and the guide explained in detail and in detail the figures, really, a luxury to have been there. He was kind enough to let us know the Mosque, beautiful building, before the fire temple. I was also impressed by the sights in the temple and with the detailed explanations of the guide, it was certainly a wonderful and unforgettable place. Then, the museum of the fireland, burning earth completes the excursion in a more than exceptional, superlative and unforgettable way for the rest of my days. And, very kindly, the guide allows us to know the Heydar, wonderful avant-garde architectural work of Baku. We went on this trip with our kids (7 and 4 years old). It was very nice and interesting, even for them. The tour guides (Nigar and Samir) were very friendly with good historical information to share, the driver was cautios. The lunch was typical food
The tour guide spoke very good English and was very down to earth. It is cheap for what you get and the food is great. Every stop had a great bit of history behind it. We particularly enjoyed the crazy taxi driver to the mud volcanoes.
