Quatro aldeias, seis horas, mezcal à vontade, transporte privado e comida deliciosa esperam por você! 1. Teotitlán del Valle: Descubra a arte ancestral dos tapetes de lã de ovelha e todos os segredos da sua confecção. 2. Tlacolula: Visitaremos um mercado tradicional, onde você poderá experimentar gafanhotos, tejate e o pão tradicional de casamento. 3. Matatlan: Aprenda tudo sobre a produção artesanal de mezcal. Aqui você vai experimentar mais de 8 tipos de agave! Meu Deus! E vamos provar a verdadeira comida de Oaxaca. 4. Mitla: Vamos visitar minha mãe, que é artesã e designer! Ela é fantástica e gosta de beber mezcal. Surpresa! Vou apresentar a vocês minha própria marca de mezcal (spoiler: é deliciosa). Teremos uma experiência fenomenal aprendendo sobre tapetes de lã, desde como são tingidos com cores naturais até a tecelagem em teares de pedal. Aqui você poderá exercitar sua coordenação motora, pois praticará a confecção de tapetes em um tear de verdade. Você também descobrirá todos os segredos de nossos ancestrais sobre como eles usavam plantas, animais e cascas de árvores para tingir a lã de ovelha e, assim, confeccionar seus tapetes.
Faremos um passeio pelos corredores mais emblemáticos do mercado de Tlacolula; é mágico poder interagir com os vendedores do mercado. Aqui experimentaremos diferentes bebidas e comidas pré-hispânicas, como o Tejate, pão tradicional e gafanhotos (você se atreve a experimentá-los?). Se a sua reserva for para um domingo, visitaremos o mercado mais antigo do vale, faremos um tour por todo o mercado e você poderá ver como as pessoas aproveitam esse dia para compartilhar, comercializar e trocar seus produtos. Aqui você vivenciará verdadeiramente a cultura oaxaquenha.
E o que seria uma experiência em Oaxaca sem o delicioso mezcal? Matatlán, a capital mundial do Mezcal! Aqui você aprenderá tudo sobre o processo de destilação para se sentir um verdadeiro mestre do mezcal, mas acima de tudo, poderá degustar mais de 8 tipos diferentes de agaves selvagens: Cuixe, tobalá, mexicano, tepeztate, entre outros. Também visitaremos o campo de agave para que você possa ver como ele cresce. Depois de aprender sobre todo o processo e degustar os diferentes tipos de mezcal, é hora do almoço, onde desfrutaremos de uma refeição tradicional oaxaquenha, que tenho certeza que você vai adorar. Ela será acompanhada pela água aromatizada do dia e, adivinhe? Mais mezcal!
Mas a aventura não termina aí! Vamos para Mitla, a cidade onde moro. Visitaremos a loja de roupas da minha família e, junto com minha mãe, beberemos mais mezcal da minha própria marca. E depois deste dia repleto de atividades, retornamos à cidade, mas não sem antes dar um passeio pelas ruas principais de Mitla.

Awesome day. The textile experience was at a family operation and went through all the steps that were handed down from generation to generation.
Irwin is the guide and organiser of this tour. As I was the only person - indeed he would go even if I was the only one in the tour - I had a lot of informative conversations with him while he drove us to all the points of interest. Compared to the other tours I feel this one has a high personal touch.

This was an excellent day trip! The entire day exceeded our expectations. Our guide Irvin was a knowledgeable local with perfect English. We started by visiting a traditional weaving family in Teotilán del Valle. As an avid knitter, I really enjoyed learning how the weaver went from taking raw wool from a nearby pueblo to washing it in a basket with a native root, carding it, dyeing it with natural plants and minerals, to weaving beautiful rugs and wall hangings. I tried my hand at spinning the wool into yarn and can really appreciate the skill and the expertise of the weaver! My non-knitting husband also found the whole process very engaging. Our next stop was a palenque, where we learned about the various types of agave plants used in making mezcal, to seeing the steps involved in the making the final product. Of course, we then tasted various blends and purchased some to take home. Afterwards, the tour included lunch at the pelanque. The third stop was at the market in Tlacolula de Matamoros. We tasted (and purchased) some Chapulines, then we moved on to a tasting of delicious Tejate. Afterwards, we had some local bread with cinnamon and raisins. We were there on a Thursday, and we appreciated that it wasn't as busy as it would be on a Sunday. Our final stop was Irvin's hometown of Mitla, where we met his delightful mother in her clothing store and had a tour of the town. It was such a great day...we highly recommend this day trip!

This was my favorite tour in Oaxaca! Irvin’s passion is contagious and it was so much fun experiencing food, mezcal and cultural traditions with his friends and family. So enjoyable I booked a follow-up tour with his cousin Cesar to visit caves near Mitla.

This tour is the must to join in Oaxaca. We could exposure Oaxaca culture and history through seeing, touching, smelling and tasting! Our tour guide, Margoni was super helpful, patient, cheerful and knowledgeable. We had a great filling day in Oaxaca! Our guide Irvin was very knowledgeable, very energetic, very attentive to our needs, he answered all our questions and concerns. We had a great experience and plan to book with him again in the future. Our favorite besides all the mezcal tasting was riding through Mitla's downtown in quads. He took care of pictures and videos so we could just enjoy the tour....

We thoroughly enjoyed our tour with Irvin, who was very personable, lively, knowledgeable, and spoke excellent English. The tour exceeded our expectations. The woman who provided the demonstration of rug making was delightful, Irvin’s leadership through the tianguis atTlacolula was superb, the Mezcal tasting demonstration was expansive, and the ride on ATV at Milka was an unusual treat. Don’t miss it!
Lovely guide who took us to the Tlacula Market and helped us try all sorts of unique foods that are very old ,some pre-Hispanic.I even got an opportunity to meet his very nice family.It was overall a great tour experience!I would recommend it to all who come to Oaxaca!!
