Ming was a great guide! It is a long excursion. Bus ride, boat ride (hour each way) but the Perfume Pagoda is a wonder!
Thank you for your wonderful review! We're thrilled you had a great experience and hope to welcome you again soon. Safe travels! 🌍✨
Our guide Minh was quite knowledgeable and very friendly. The boat ride one hour each way is very slow and not very comfortable. If you're elderly or stiff in joints it's not the go. Our only comment would be that Minh would often repeat the same thing over and over which made each stop alot longer than necessary. The cable does give a great view of the surroundings. A few decided to do the walk instead of cabel car and afterwards didn't advise it. The lunch was substantial and varied. Also best note that this tour took 12 hrs from pick up to drop off, not the stated time. Also there is water and drinks available during the tour at little shops.
My coworker and I booked this tour on a whim to take advantage of our free time on a work trip. And I'm so glad we did! Our guide, Minh, and all the other folks who helped get us where we were going, were fantastic. Minh made every moment enjoyable, even in smothering heat on the way up and through a rainy boat ride back. He even made karaoke possible on our boat rides, which was totally unexpected, but thoroughly entertaining. The food included was delicious and learning about the culture of the Pagodas was wonderful. I would absolutely recommend this to anyone visiting Hanoi for the first time.
A memorable but exhausting day. A serene boat ride would have been more so without the tour guide’s insistence on karaoke, but he got the message no-one was interested. The steep walks up to the fabulous pagoda, temple and cavern grotto were gruelling but really worth it - we’re in our mid-70s btw. The cable car (strongly recommended) was a welcome break to the slogging up and down the pilgrim's’ way of broken, uneven steps & cobbles. Lunch was excellent - a huge amount of local food, with no surprises for unadventurous western palates. The guide (Minh) was very good, always on hand; helpful and informative. Be advised that you need to be pretty mobile with a degree of fitness to deal with all of the steps & paths - esp in high humidity. Wear good comfortable shoes and take a hat. Highly recommended trip.
The boat down the river was great. Our guide Mr. Minh was fantastic. Cave and Pagodas memorable. Excellent history from guide. Went on a Monday. No crowds.
Thanks for your 5* review ! we hope that's really your impressive experience in Vietnam ! Best wishes !
Really fascinating trip with many different aspects. Great guide, and the boat trip was great too. Lots to see and the cave was something very special. Word of warning if shopping at first stop - hold onto your goods yourself until paid for and watch them get wrapped. We had two items changed for inferior products. This is not the fault of the tour operator who were great.

This tour was well planned - the boat trip was great however keep in mind that you have to return via the same boat so prepare to have a sore bottom.
The food was a little under par and you are left to try and figure out what it is you are eating this may have just been our tour guide
There is allot of steps and walking I suggest you use the cable cart as the walk is the same thing over and over.
many thanks.
was a little disgusted that the boat lady at the end of the trip walked around asking for tips / money from everyone. we were prepared to do it anyway but asking was a little rude.

We took this tour during the week of Tet. If you are not Vietnamese, I would suggest taking this tour at any other time of year besides February and March. There were thousands of rural Vietnamese making their annual pilgrimage to Perfume Pagoda when we went.
Our group was a mix of local people from the countryside and 6 of us from other countries. The guide spoke basic English but it was difficult for us as there was much more emphasis on the local group. Our guide left us to ourselves for three hours in the afternoon telling us to meet at a central point at 4 pm- so we did not get much information/history, etc. The lunch that was served was in a large dining room, serving dishes put out on the table but no plates so we were not exactly sure how to eat it. I am certain that the time of year was very instrumental in this experience. Seeing the cave where those making the pilgrimage with gifts was very neat so I have very mixed emotions about this experience.

Great tour! Our guide Hien was really nice and very informative! One note for women bring a wrap or skirt or else you cannot enter the temple.
