I honestly had an amazing time. Everything was on time. Guides were amazing. He was so knowledgeable about the ruins. I would’ve never known what i know now if i had gone through with another tour. I feel very enriched in the culture. The shuttle drivers were also amazing and on time too. As a solo woman traveler i felt EXTREMELYYYYY safe

A day tour that's worth everything

Best experience in Tikal. The guide was amazing and the tour breathtaking. I recommend it, even for kids. The history of ancient Tikal is lovely.

Pros and cons

Pros and cons of this trip. The tour of Tikal was a great experience, our tour guide Luis was lovely, and the lunch was delicious! However, communication day before was not good. They only confirmed pick up time and did not explain the procedure of what to do at the airport and once in Flores. We were able to figure it out and had a great day overall! (Our flight back was delayed so it was an extremely long day with a few hours at the airport)

Tour of Tikal

The tour was very good and definitely a must do experience while visiting Guatemala. The guide was very good also. The communication and transportation with the tour company was a little more challenging. They provided me with information about when I would be picked up by the driver and sent me the flight voucher, but did not tell me that I would not be meeting the group until I arrived in Flores. When the driver dropped me off at the Guatemala city airport, he just told me to go inside and let me know where he would pick me up when I returned that evening. After waiting in the departures area for a while, I texted the Tour company and they told me to get on the plane and that I would be met on the other end by a guide. Upon arrival in Flores there was someone with a sign with my name who instructed me to sit down at the restaurant and wait for over an hour for the next flight to come in with the rest of the people. Their departure point was the same as mine so I could have left the hotel an hour and a half later. Given that I left the hotel at 3:30 in the morning, I would’ve enjoyed that hour and a half of sleep. After they arrived, the day went very smoothly and the tour was great. At the end of the tour, we stopped in Flores for a short walk around. It turns out the other people on the tour were taking a later flight and had more time to spend walking around Flores and that option was never provided to me. I was very disappointed not to have had this information as I would’ve liked to have done that, especially since I had taken the time and spent the money to go all the way up there. They then dropped me back at the airport two hours before my flight time when no doubt 45 minutes would’ve been sufficient and I could have spent an additional hour in the town walking around. So overall, it was a good trip but a lot of wasted time and a lack of communication in terms of what your options are from the tour company.

Very well organized tour, incredible place!

Everything was very well organized, from the transfer from the hotel to the flight from Ciudad de Guatemala to Flores (it is a 45-minute flight), the trip to Tikal Park, the guide, lunch and the return to the hotel. Very tired (17 hours in total), but worth it, the place is beautiful! Walks a lot, more than 7 kilometers, it is not recommended for those who have difficulty moving. Tips: light hat, raincoat, mosquito repellent, sunscreen and water. Go with long pants (because of mosquitoes and the sun) and tough and comfortable tennis to walk a lot (and climb some pyramids and temples, if you are willing!) You cannot enter with food, and in the area of the park (except in the restaurant) there is no wi-fi or cell phone signal. Take cash cash, there doesn't work card.

This is a very long day...

This is a very long day but worth it to see the ruins. There were plenty of opportunities for snacks and food and restroom breaks. There is a lot of walking involved so be ready for that. Very fun day!!

Antigua-GUA-FRS-Tikal & reverse- totally manageable and enjoyable

Wonderful experience! I was hesitant about the 1 day round trip from Antigua and back, however had already booked hotel reservations in Antigua and still wanted to somehow fit in a Tikal during this trip. It was a lengthy travel day, however manageable and all my daughter and I had to do was show up and everything was taken care of from the drivers, airline tickets, shuttles, tour group and lunch. We covered quite a bit of ground within the park and had enough time to explore on our own. We were in the park From 9am-1pm on a Friday in August and it was not crowded. I was actually surprised at the lack of crowds. The guide Luis was incredible, a true treasure to the park. He is proud of the site, very knowledgeable and you can see that bringing visitors also brings him joy as he shares it. He communicated to our group in Italian, Spanish & English. Our driver Oscar was steady, safe, efficient & hilarious. Really happy with this experience.

Explore the Mayan ruins in the jungle

We spend the majority of the day exploring the stunning Mayan ruins in the jungle. We did a lot of walking and made sure we had plenty of water with us. If you want to see the sites from the top of the temples, you will have to climb a lot of steep staircases, but the views are more than worth it. We had a delicious lunch at a local restaurant thank God that truck ride back to the parking lot. Overall, a great experience.

Just Do Something Else

Tikal as a place is amazing. Tikal with this particular tour group is a disaster. There is very little coordination or understanding of what to do when and how and you are likely to be confused most of the day. The worst part is the price creates an expectation that you will be treated well. Instead, this feels like a budget vendor doing things on a shoe string. But to cap it all off, you might want to plan for the fact that you’re likely to be left at the airport upon your return with no ride back to Antigua. Instead, you will be left to get your own Uber, pay the price and realize you over paid for a full tour that doesn’t include a ride back to Antigua after a day that began at 2:00 am and doesn’t end until you land back in Guatemala City at 6:45 pm and are absolutely exhausted from a day of walking and climbing and trying to keep up with a tour guide intent on running through the park rather than reading the crowd and understanding not everyone can go as fast as he can. Whatever, I wouldn’t go on this tour. If you are staying in Antigua, I would spend the night in Guatemala City, get on the early flight out to Flores and get a tour guide there for a private tour. Uber is incredibly easy to get from the airport so once you get back to GC, it will be easy to get home. I guess the only other thing to mention is that the emergency numbers they provide and the messages you send them go unanswered and you are left to fend for yourself having spent a fortune to be ignored. Hated it.
