Honestly I didn’t read well was I booked so I was kinda confused why we didn’t have a tour guide. I don’t really get the point of booking this unless you want to get ur tickets ahead of time but just seems like a more expensive way to check out the basilica
3 very expensive tickets (3 * 25 euros) not to have access to the supplements of the visit including the Pala d'Oro. It was very complicated to download the audio guide. Picking up tickets away from the entrance is not easy to understand when you receive a voucher...
We bought tickets only to find out 5 minutes before the tour after waiting around for two hours that the venue was full and we could not go that day.
No need to pay a premium for this tour. You have access to the main part of the basilica, which is very limited. You have to pay extra for access to get closer to the alter or 2nd floor outside. Easily walk through it in 10-29 mins.
This tour and guide was absolutely wonderful! We learned so much and there was no rushing or glossing over anything. At the end of our tour, the guide offered to spend as much time as we liked to look around and learn more about the Vatican. She also gave us a wonderful lunch recommendation at Porto which was outstanding!
Our guide, Suzanne/Suzanna, was waiting to meet us when we got to the museum gates. We were greeted with such a friendly welcome from her. She spent the next 3 hours with us, taking us from the Vatican museums, pointing out the highlights to the Basilica of the Vatican, which is the largest church in the world. Would highly recommend booking with a guide as they are really knowledgeable. 10/10 service.
Excellent tourguide. Knowledgable and enthusiastic. Could answer all our questions. Warm and flexible.

I would never take a tour any other way - Our guide was engaging, and extremely knowledgeable. Definitely worth the investment for the extended itinerary. Highly, Highly recommend

Great experience that absolutely was enhanced by our guide, Valentina. She added much to the tour by explaining the art and the history behind it. Highly recommend a tour. If you are going to visit the Vatican, Sistine Chapel and St. Peter's I highly recommend taking a tour so you can get the most out of the visit.

My family and I have purchased three tours from Viator. All of them have been terrific and well worth the investment because we skip the long lines and have the opportunity to see up close the works of the greats while listening to extremely well educated tour guides. This Half-Day Tour was the best tour we have ever experienced. If you visit the Vatican without a tour guide be sure to arrive early at the Vatican because the lines are long, expect to spend 2x the time at the Vatican as a result of the lines at the exhibits and most importantly spend years studying the works of art you'll be seeing because without a good understanding of what your viewing you'll not fully appreciate the beauty and wisdom of the artist.
