Valera was such a delight! We enjoyed the class and I can't wait to try making my own pasta from home! One complaint was that the restaurant in which we learned was super hot and kind of dampened the fun.
Very disappointed. It was primarily a cooking demonstration not a cooking class. We made pasta, but the sauces magically appeared premade. We passed around the tiramisu mold to dip a lady finger and put in the community dish. The room itself was bad. No individual stations, nothing pre measured. Small, hot, no ventilation, not enough chairs, and no napkins while cooking. No way to wash hands except go to bathroom. Notwithstanding advertising unlimited prosecco, it was very much limited until the last 30 minutes. Having said that Valeria, the instructor, was very nice and did the best she could with the resources she had been given. Would not recommend this class.
Dear David, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback, and we truly appreciate your kind words about Valeria. She is indeed a wonderful host who always pours her heart into welcoming our guests! We are genuinely sorry that this specific session didn't live up to your expectations. On the day of your class, an unexpected operational issue with one of our primary rooms required us to dynamically shift the experience to one of our gorgeous, traditional Venetian partner restaurants nearby. While we are incredibly lucky to have these beautiful backup venues to ensure the experience can go on, we realize the change in environment and the logistics that day impacted your overall impression. Our classes are intentionally designed to be a lively, communal, and social experience. Rather than a sterile, classroom-style setup with individual, pre-measured stations, we invite our guests into a functioning, authentic Venetian kitchen environment to cook and enjoy a meal together—much like an Italian family gathering. However, we take your notes regarding comfort, ventilation, and timing of the refreshments very seriously, and we are already reviewing these details with the local team to ensure our high standards are consistently met, even when adapting to unexpected venue changes. A member of our office team will be reaching out to you directly regarding your specific inquiry. We truly appreciate your feedback as it helps us continually refine our guest experience, and we wish you and your daughter the absolute best in your future travels. Warm regards, Enzo
I booked the Venetian Secret Three-Course Cooking Experience based on the photos and description shown online. The pictures made it look like a professional cooking class in a proper kitchen, with people preparing their own individual dishes, including individual tiramisu cups, in an organized and clean environment. Unfortunately, the actual experience was completely different. First, shortly before the class, I received a phone call saying the location had changed. When we arrived at the new location, it was not a cooking school or professional kitchen. It was a room inside a restaurant, with one large table and no air conditioning. The lady leading the class was very kind and clearly tried her best, but she was working with very limited tools, supplies, and support. It felt like the restaurant had simply rented out an empty room and did not really care about the cooking activity happening there. The organization was very poor from the beginning. When we cracked eggs and our hands became messy, we asked for napkins, but the restaurant said they could not provide any. We had to keep going back and forth to the bathroom just to wash our hands. Later, when dinner was served, napkins suddenly became available, which made the earlier situation even more frustrating. The tiramisu part was especially disappointing and concerning from a hygiene point of view. Based on the advertised photos, I expected each person to make their own individual tiramisu cup in a clean, organized setup, with gloves provided. In the photos, people appeared to be wearing gloves, but in the actual class, no gloves were provided. The only thing we received was a plastic apron. Everyone was cracking eggs with bare hands, dipping ladyfingers into espresso, and people’s fingers were touching the espresso during the process. The tiramisu was not made individually; it was made in one large container and later served in scoops on small plates. Because of the way it was prepared and the lack of basic hygiene supplies, I honestly did not feel comfortable eating it. This was very different from the clean, professional experience that was advertised. The pasta-making portion was also unprofessional and poorly prepared. There were not enough rolling pins, so we had to wait for each other. There were not enough knives to cut the pasta. The flour was not pre-measured, so the instructor had to weigh it individually for each person during the class, which took extra time and made everything feel disorganized. In a good cooking class, each person’s ingredients should already be measured and ready before the class begins. I have done a similar cooking experience before with another provider, and it was completely different. There, we were in a real kitchen with real chefs, proper tools, organized ingredients, and clear instruction. They taught us techniques, small tips, and tricks of the trade, such as the best way to knead the dough and handle the pasta. In this class, the instruction felt very basic, like information you could easily find anywhere. It did not feel like a special Venetian cooking experience. The bruschetta course was also disappointing. There were only two tomatoes and one knife, and the instructor asked for one volunteer to cut them. The tomato portion itself was not the issue; there were actually tomatoes left over. The problem was that each person received only one tiny piece of bread with tomato on top. There was not enough bread to properly use the tomatoes or make it feel like a real course. At one point, it was suggested that if we wanted, we could just scoop and eat some of the tomatoes. That is not what I expected from a three-course Venetian cooking experience. It felt very limited and poorly planned. The listing also mentioned unlimited Prosecco. In reality, we were told that for safety reasons, because knives were being used, Prosecco could not be served during the cooking portion. I understand the safety concern, but the way the experience was advertised and the way it was delivered did not match. It felt like another part of the experience that was promised but not properly fulfilled. This whole experience felt like something added to the website just to make extra money, rather than a genuine Venetian or Italian cooking experience. It did not feel thoughtful, cultural, or special. At the end, some attendees asked for the recipes, and the instructor asked everyone for their email addresses so she could send them later. In another cooking experience I had, the recipes were beautifully written on small cards and given to us as souvenirs, tied with a ribbon. That kind of detail makes the experience feel memorable and professional. Here, there was none of that. Everything felt last-minute, basic, and not carefully prepared. Overall, this was a waste of my time and money. I booked this experience as something special to do with my daughter, especially because I had done a similar cooking class last year with my son and it was wonderful. This one was nothing like that. It was not professional, not well organized, not properly equipped, and not the experience shown in the photos. The instructor ,Valeria , herself was lovely and tried her best, but the setup and execution were a total fiasco. I am giving this experience 1 star out of 5. I honestly feel that the experience I paid for was not delivered, and I believe a partial refund would be appropriate.
First, we would like to thank you for your kind words about Valeria. We are pleased to hear that you found her friendly and engaging throughout the experience. On the day of your cooking class, there was an unexpected issue with one of the rooms at our main location. As a result, guests were asked to move to one of our nearby partner venues, which is also a beautiful Venetian restaurant. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. This is not representative of our usual operation, and we understand that the change may have impacted your overall impression of the experience. From reading your review, it appears that many of your concerns stem from comparing our experience to a different cooking class you attended with another provider. While we fully respect those comparisons, our class is designed as a hands-on, social cooking experience where guests prepare dishes together in a traditional Venetian restaurant setting. We would also like to reiterate that the circumstances on the day of your class were unusual and not reflective of how our classes are typically conducted. We are genuinely sorry that your experience was affected by these operational issues. Someone from our office will be reaching out to you directly about what you asked. Thank you again for taking the time to share your thoughts, and we wish you and your daughter all the best in your future travels.
This was not the experience we were expecting. We were in the back room of a restaurant, where there was no air, fan, or windows open so it was hot, stuffy, and crowded. We were given plastic aprons, which made it worse. We had to ask for chairs and were refused when we asked for napkins or something to wipe our hands on. We made a community tiramisu rather than individual servings, which was frankly a little gross because we all cracked eggs, dipped the lady fingers in espresso, etc. with our bare hands (after washing in the bathroom sink across the restaurant) and then put it in a large dish to chill. Our leader, Valeria, was very sweet and engaging throughout the course - she handled the situation, the complaints of the group, and some big personalities well. The pasta making was fun, but there were not enough rolling pins, cutting boards, knives, etc for everyone so we all had to take turns. We were able to choose between 3 sauces, but were not able to see the sauces made at all (assume the restaurant had them). We have done a similarly described cooking class, and this was not at all what we signed up for.
Hello Jolee, thank you for your kind word about the host of the class. On the day of your class, there was an unexpected issue with one of the rooms at our main venue. As a result, we had to relocate the experience to one of our nearby partner restaurants at short notice. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience this caused. The conditions you experienced are not representative of our usual operation, and we understand how this may have affected your enjoyment of the class. We are sorry to hear that the setup, temperature of the room, and availability of equipment did not meet your expectations. The circumstances on that day were unusual, and we recognize that the alternative venue did not provide the same experience that we normally strive to deliver. Our classes are designed to be interactive and social experiences, and some parts of preparation is prepared together, we understand that this style may not be what every guest We genuinely appreciate your feedback and apologize that the experience fell short of your expectations. Someone from our office will be reaching out to you directly, and we hope we will have the opportunity to provide you with a better experience in the future. Thank you again for sharing your thoughts.
Valeria was a great cooking host. She was patient with us and provided step by step instructions. Our pasta and tiramisu turned out great! Unlimited prosecco added to the enjoyment!
Valeria was an amazing host and made the class very easy and enjoyable to follow. I would highly recommend it! The food at the end was delicious!
We were only in Venice for a couple days and we wanted to experience an authentic Italian meal. Our host Sara was wonderful and the meal was absolutely delicious! We made pasta, the chef made three sauces we could choose from, we made our own bruschetta and tiramisu. Everything was absolutely delicious! For the price of this tour, we got a delicious lunch and an authentic lesson on how to make an Italian meal. Thank you so much! Such a great way to spend a few hours in Venice.
We had a great time and really enjoyed it. Paolo was brilliant and made the the whole experience so friendly and something we'll always remember. Highly recommend it.
We all enjoyed it. Valeria was a great instructor and host. We look forward to making pasta and bruschetta at home soon.
We had a great time learning how to cook authentic food. Instructors were nice. It did not feel rushed. Food was delicious.
