Ben was our guide and very knowledgeable and charming. We had a comprehensive tour of four wineries and a cheese tasting. The wineries were all good with Puddleduck outstanding - included a lovely lunch. Ben dropped all of us back at our hotels. An extra bonus. The wineries are different on every tour. Cheese tasting ok. Very few cheeses on offer.
Thank you so much for joining us on the Coal River Valley Wine Tour and for sharing your feedback. We’re delighted to hear you enjoyed the day, especially Ben’s knowledgeable and charming hosting — he takes great care in making the tour smooth, informative, and relaxed. It’s wonderful to know the wineries resonated with you, and we’re glad Puddleduck was a highlight. As owners, we curate each itinerary with a mix of boutique producers, and the selection does vary day‑to‑day to ensure every tour feels fresh and personalised. We appreciate your comments about the cheese tasting. The venue focuses on showcasing a small range of locally made cheeses, and while the selection is intentionally limited, your feedback is helpful as we continue refining the experience. Thank you again for joining us — and for recommending the tour to others. We’d love to welcome you back for another Tasmanian wine adventure
This tour was a wonderful intro to the beautiful wines which Tasmania are known for. We covered four wineries in the Coal Valley area and had a lovely lunch at Puddleduck Estate A quick stopover at Wicked Cheese Factory was delightful and allowed us to purchase some local goodies. A late cancellation meant that my partner and I were the only two on this tour so we had a very comfortable and luxurious mini van with Ben as our personalised driver.

Visited 4 cellar Doors and Wicked cheese shop. Garren our driver/operator was fantastic. Great knowledge of the wines and the region. Each cellar door we were greeted and treated exceptionally well. Wines tasted were great and loved the cheeses. Very nice lunch at Puddleduck.
This was a fantastic day out. To start with Daniel was a great tour guide, his energy and attitude was warm and welcoming. Not only was he lovely but his knowledge of the wineries and the area was great, and he spoke with passion. The wineries we went to were a great mix of older and newer wineries. The service we received at each was also of a very high standard. The lunch at Puddleduck was delicious too. Such a great day, highly recommend to anyone wanting a nice day out with delicious wines.

Had a great time on this tour. Everything from booking to the day itself was well organised and well done. The selection of wineries was perfect ... had something for everyone. My favourite was Nocton. The pace of the day, amount of driving, etc, was really good and able to see a bit more of Tasmania. Garren, our guide for the day, was extremely knowledgeable about wines in general and those at the winery we visited and made the day really enjoyable. Highly recommend.
Thank you for the fantastic review! We're so glad to hear you had a great time and that everything from booking to the tour itself met your expectations. Today’s wine tour from Hobart was a perfect ending to our Tassie getaway! Daniel was a friendly & helpful guide with lots of knowledge about the area & wineries. We were picked up on time and visited 4 wineries plus a cheese shop. All the cellar door tastings were varied & featured a large selection of wines. We also enjoyed a tasty lunch board with dessert at Puddleduck Vineyard. We were a group of 5 and everyone was friendly! The tastings were not rushed & there was time to take photos too. Wonderful day!

Great day, driver a lovely gentleman and the cellar stores we visited very picturesque and of course the wine wasn’t too bad either
Thank you for the great review! We're so glad to hear you had a lovely day, with beautiful cellar doors and some pretty decent wine (if we do say so ourselves!). We’re happy the driver made the experience even better—hopefully, he didn’t steal all the attention from the wine! Looking forward to having you back on another tour soon!
We had an excellent day with Guarin on the Valley of Vino tour. Visited some picturesque wineries, tasted some delicious wines and food (including cheese and honey tasting), visited the historical village of Richmond - what more could you ask for? Highly recommend!

The 8-hour tour of Coal River Valley visited 4 wineries and a cheese factory, plus a drive through Richmond and a photo stop at the famous sandstone bridge. A highlight was the individual lunch platter featuring local cured meat, cheese, bread, relish, and pickles - delish. There were about 30 different cool climate wines, including sparkling, white, rose, red, and desert, so something for every wine drinker's palette. The wines at Nocton, Puddleduck, Pressing Matters, and Derwent Estate were all excellent, and the Wicked Cheese was also a standout. The luxury bus held up to 10 guests and was very comfortable. Our tour guide, Garren, provided an interesting, informative, and entertaining commentary throughout the day. Highly recommended day trip from Hobart.
Thank you so much for your detailed and kind review! We're thrilled to hear that you enjoyed the wide variety of wines, the delicious lunch platter, and the comfort of the bus. It’s fantastic to know Guarin’s commentary helped make the day both informative and entertaining. We appreciate your recommendation and hope to welcome you again on another memorable tour soon!
This was the best and most personalised wine tour we have been on. Garren had so much information about the vineyards and quirky facts about the region. We highly recommend to book with Ageing Barrels for a wine tour in Hobart.
Thank you for the wonderful feedback! We're thrilled to hear that Guarin made your experience so personalized and informative, with plenty of quirky facts about the vineyards and the region. His passion really shines through. We appreciate your recommendation and would love to welcome you back for another tour soon!
