Ubud Culinary Class: Autêntica experiência de comida balinesa e mercado

We had such an amazing time at Lesung Bali Cooking Class with Ron! Our experience was a private class, and it felt so personal and special from start to finish. One of the highlights was visiting a typical Balinese home and learning about the culture and family compounds. It was such a thoughtful and respectful experience – informative without ever feeling intrusive. It gave us the perfect chance to ask questions and understand more about life in Bali. The cooking setup itself was fantastic – a beautiful outdoor kitchen surrounded by the countryside, which made the whole experience even more memorable. Ron guided us through each ingredient and dish with so much knowledge, patience, and humor. He was incredibly friendly and fun, which made the class not only educational but also really enjoyable. We cooked so many delicious traditional dishes, and it was such a treat to enjoy everything we made. We left with full bellies, big smiles, and a deeper appreciation for Balinese food and culture. We couldn’t recommend Lesung – and especially Ron – more highly. This was truly one of the highlights of our trip to Bali!

They taught me to cook reasonably and showed me around the local families. They were very friendly and good people. I am so grateful that they picked me up at the hotel I was staying at and sent me to the next hotel after the cooking class.

This was a great experience. From the morning market to the prep work, it was very hands. We also got to see a traditional balinese house.

Wayan, our host was amazing, from taking us through Balinese culture, to the local traditions and living style. It was a nice introduction before the cooking began. The cooking class was fun and well thought out and delicious, definately recommend to all.

Everyone at Lesung Bali were so amazing! We were lucky to get a private cooking class just my husband and me. We feel we learnt a lot about Balinese culture and had the best time making traditional Balinese food! Couldn’t recommend these guys more!

From start to finish, this experience was amazing! Our driver was punctual and friendly, making the trip from our hotel smooth and enjoyable. Upon arrival, we were welcomed with warm smiles and an authentic Balinese atmosphere. While we would have loved a bit more time exploring the local market, the cooking class itself made up for it. Chef Pitri was the sweetest—so patient, knowledgeable, and full of energy! She guided us through every step, making sure we truly understood the flavors and techniques of Balinese cuisine. One of the highlights? Tasting fresh passion fruit straight from their garden! The hospitality of the hosts made this experience even more special. If you're in Bali and love food, this is an absolute must-do!

as a retired chef. I love to take cooking classes in every country I visit. This one was absolutely amazing. First of all, they picked me up in Seminyak, and dropped me back to my hotel. It's a one hour and 15 minute trip. On the way we stopped at a local farmers market. Pretty exciting, not sure I would buy meat from there, but all of the produce looked fantastic. Then we got to the school. I had mentioned to Gusti, that I love passionfruit. He took me into the garden where they have a vine and picked five lovely passionfruit for me. Putri, the young Indonesian female chef took me through what we were going to prepare. We worked together and she was fantastic. We made five different Balinese foods, class crepes for desert. Everything had fantastic flavours. I particularly enjoyed making the satay. It was a pretty unique method of cooking. Honestly, I cannot say enough good things about this. Yoga my driver, although his English is not great, he communicated well throughout the trip. Do yourselves a favour and book this.
