VIP Transportation was on time for our return to the airport from the hotel. We waited a little longer for our pickup from airport, but our flight was delayed so that contributed to the delayed pick up. First driver was giving pointers about Honolulu, The second driver was timely and courteous.
service was good once they arrived. Driver was not there and had to have airport information ring them and we had to meet them at a diferent place.
Ultimately provided the necessary transportation with adequate reliable shuttles, however, unnecessary confusion, especially at pickup because written instructions were not even close to what transpired and seemed the routine. No greeting with sign and name. We had to call the company to find out where to board shuttle. Shuttle was about an hour late at pickup and about 30 minutes late on return. Drivers were both rather gruff, unfriendly, and giving a strong sense of negativity and uncare. However, they did both load and unload bags. Both gave that unspoken feel expecting to be tipped, but I do not tip average to below average service, especially tardiness. The only saving grace was that dispatch answered the phone and provided reliable answers. Should not have to call four times to get information, but I appreciated that they answered and provided accurate information.
If you’re airline crew, VIP Trans is for you. If not, stay far away! Arrived at the airport, didn’t see any of the described arrival team on the ticket, and called the dispatch number, proceeded to prescribed meeting point, was told transport would be there “shortly”. Within minutes shuttled arrived! …but driver very rudely told me this bus was only taking pilots and crew, and then ignored me and refused to provide additional information on when my bus would arrive. Waited 20 minutes, watched many other parties quickly come and go and connect with their transports before another VIP Trans bus showed up. Again, another very rude driver said only taking pilots and crew. Got the attention of staff of another transport company, who was great. Wish I remembered which company, because I’d use them next time. She commented “when there’s no passengers, VIP Trans is everywhere. When passengers need rides, VIP Trans is nowhere to be found.” She was able to get in touch with VIP Trans dispatch on my behalf and tell me a bus number coming to get my party. Wait another 20 minutes watching parties quickly come and go meeting their transports before my bus shows up. Driver was friendly, and a good driver, got us there safely, one of the few positives. Told us the wrong information about where to check in at our resort, sent us walking the wrong direction with two small kids, an elderly woman, and all our luggage (including car seats). Called to schedule our return trip to the airport later in the week, Operator didn’t seem to be all there, and very rude. Day of the return trip, met the driver where we were told at the specified time just fine. Driver was nice and a very safe driver. Get to the airport, driver says this is the terminal for your airline. I said our tickets say we’re supposed to be at a different terminal. Driver says the only info he has is what dispatch gave him, but he’ll circle around and pick us up if we find out we’re at the wrong terminal, but it’ll take him 5 minutes to do the loop, so we have 5 minutes. 10 minutes after getting through HI ag check, airline agent says we’re at the wrong terminal, and the right terminal is a 10 minute walk away…with 2 small children, an elderly woman, and all our luggage (including car seats). Seems like market this company wants to be in is transporting pilots and crew, and isn’t interested in providing a good experience for tourists visiting Oahu.
My husband and I arrived at the location and we saw several different VIP small buses and not one worker was organized, they had no list didn’t know who was scheduled to ride on their buses as a result they allowed a group of about 6 people place their luggage on the bus and the group did not pay for transport. My husband who’s injured was in a wheelchair and had to transport to his scooter had to wait on another bus and we had proof of payment. It was such a horrible experience I tried to communicate with one driver and he told me not to ask him any questions and was very rude, unprofessional, disorganized, just nasty to me!!! I heard one of the people in the group ask him if he had Cash App (they apparently paid him to take them). He would not remove the non payers and made us wait even though we paid over a month ago online!!! I will never use this service again!!! We waited for another bus and the first bus arrived but that wasn’t the ride for us either so we had to wait on another bus # 180. I approached the bus #180 and I heard dispatch sharing that the bus was to pick up us and 8 people. The bus 180 was looking for a group of 8 people and us 2 to transport but I shared with him that things were so horrible that the last bus took the group of 8 with him and the group that had not paid!!!!! From dispatch to the drivers it was insane!!! For all that we went through not fault of our own I truly believe we deserve a full refund!!! I was treated with disrespect and unfairness from the first driver!! Seems as though the other drivers were getting orders from him but he had them all confused!! Our wheelchair assist from the airport even tried to help us by showing the driver our proof of payment for transport and because the driver was too afraid or stubborn to remove the non payers we had to suffer and wait!! This is not acceptable!!!!! My husband waited with his injured foot in pain while I tried to communicate to get us transport but no one cared!!!
The pickup at Honolulu airport did not happen. No one waiting for us. Had to call twice and after 35 minutes we canceled the pickup and got an Uber ride pickup within 10 minutes. Viator employee was very apologetic and promptly refunded the charge and emailed me verification. So bad and good review.
This is not a round trip as advertised. They did not pick us up at baggage claim. We had to call and find out where to meet. Once we were picked up the driver was very nice and talked about the area. However when I called to make the appointment for pick up back to the airport was met with crickets. Called, unable to leave a message. Sent message nothing in return.
Upon landing, our driver called and met us directly outside the door at baggage claim. He got us to our condo, unloaded our bags and also assisted us up the hill with them. We had the same driver on the way back to the airport at the end of our trip. Our driver’s name was “T”. It felt like riding to the airport with a family member.
My phone updated mid-flight and I couldn’t get back in. I couldn’t get my info of where to meet. Thankfully the visitor information desk at the airport helped us by calling the shuttle and arranged for a place to meet. Driver was very understanding and was very friendly. He was great to talk with and pointed out a few things on the route.
Great value. Just ignore all of the details about airport pick-up. Upon arrival, call them. Then walk outside to the shuttle pick-up zone and look for the shuttle. There's no one waiting at baggage claim with a sign. Drivers do not wear Hawaiian print shirts. Our return trip was completely different! We had a scheduled time, but dispatch called and let me know an earlier shuttle would be in my area. Joyful return although we had to end our trip.
