A mais famosa das igrejas de Pádua é a Basílica di S.Antonio, nós simplesmente a chamamos de "Il Santo". Os ossos do santo repousam em uma capela ricamente ornamentada com mármores esculpidos, obra de vários artistas, entre eles Sansovino e Falconetto. A basílica foi iniciada um ano após a morte de Santo Antônio em 1232 e concluída no século seguinte. Na praça, em frente à Basílica, está a magnífica estátua equestre de Donatello do general veneziano Erasmo da Narni, chamada Gattamelata.
No centro da cidade histórica, os edifícios do Palazzo del Bò, a antiga Universidade fundada em 1222. A lista de professores e ex-alunos é longa e ilustre, contendo, entre outros, os nomes do anatomista Vesalius, Copérnico, Falópio, Galileu Galilei, William Harvey. É também onde, em 1678, Elena Lucrezia Cornaro Piscopia se tornou a primeira mulher do mundo a se formar. A universidade abriga o teatro de anatomia mais antigo, construído em 1594. Observe que: Visitas autoguiadas não estão disponíveis no Palazzo Bo: o acesso ao edifício só é possível por visita guiada. Posso reservar com prazer o seu bilhete, sem pré-pagamento.
Palazzo Della Ragione (Salone) com seu grande salão no andar superior, tem a fama de ter o maior telhado não sustentado por colunas da Europa; as paredes estão cobertas de afrescos alegóricos. O primeiro Palazzo foi iniciado em 1172 e concluído em 1219. Em 1306, Fra Giovanni, um frade agostiniano, cobriu tudo com um telhado. Sob o grande salão, há dois mercados centenários: Piazza Frutti, Piazza Erbe.
Na Piazza dei Signori está a bela loggia chamada Gran Guardia (1493-1526) e o Palazzo del Capitaniato, a residência dos governadores venezianos.

Ms Cristina showed us, in a couple of hours, interesting historical details about the beautiful Padua. Palazzo Bo' and Palazzo della Ragione engaged us - or rather delighted us - with their beauty, skillfully illustrated by Cristina with competence but also sympathy.
