Great day tour

Kim was a great tour guide. We learned a lot about Korea on the drive. Our itinerary was altered a bit due to traffic but we had a lovely day and saw so many beautiful sites. Communication and pick up was easy and stress free. Highly recommend.

We had a great time....

We had a great time. Chance was very helpful and informative. We had used him in the past when we were in Seoul and we’re glad he was able to be our guide the second time too. He picked us up and our hotel on time and dropped us off.

Not a pleasant experience

The places we visited were nice, but the guide arrived late and was not clear about the place we were going to eat, he did not explain it was only raw sea food, the place made us buy a lot and even tough I told him we did not eat raw food he did not stop them. We spent 75 dlls for food we did not eat.

This is a response from Andy, one of our most trusted guides, who conducted this tour; "I was your guide that day, and frankly, it was one of the most difficult tours I’ve ever had to deal with. I informed you multiple times that I would be a few minutes late and apologized in advance—yet you arrived 15 minutes late yourself without any consideration. From the very beginning, your behavior was inconsistent and disruptive. You insisted on going to Nami first, only to change your mind shortly after. Before lunch, I clearly explained—repeatedly—the available options: Korean, chicken, Chinese, and more. You specifically chose Japanese food. Then, on the way there, you abruptly changed your mind again and demanded to go to a seafood market instead. You personally selected the fish and agreed to pay, only to suddenly claim you don’t eat fish while it was being prepared. I had already explained numerous times that it would be raw fish. At no point did I force you—you made that decision yourself. You then asked for fish stew, I paid on your behalf, and instead of resolving the situation, you walked out. When I even offered to go out of my way to get calamari for you, you refused—only to storm off and buy and eat it yourself. Your behavior was not only contradictory but completely unreasonable. On top of that, having someone from your group call a concierge to check for restaurant availability—without providing basic information like number of guests, time, or preferences—perfectly reflects your lack of organization and respect. This is not how a tour works. I fulfilled my responsibilities as a guide; you, however, failed to act like a cooperative guest. Paying for a tour does not entitle you to complain endlessly, change decisions on a whim, and create unnecessary complications throughout the day. If you want to be overly picky and difficult, that’s your choice—but not on a guided tour where coordination and mutual respect are essential. Good luck to any future guide who has to deal with this kind of behavior." As the owner of tour agency, the company that created and operates this tour, I will be absolutely clear. Andy, our top guide, has earned nothing but 5-star reviews. We trust him completely, and his integrity is beyond question. We are fully aware of a certain type of customer who tries to game the system—leaving dishonest, damaging reviews to pressure operators into refunds, then conveniently removing them afterward. Let me make this very clear: as the leading and most experienced provider of private tours to Seoraksan, we do not tolerate this behavior. We do not give in to it, and we will never compromise with people who act this way. To the customer in question, here is the only thing you need to hear: Fix your attitude. Sort your life out..!!

Having a private driver...

Having a private driver was helpful. But if the tour guide does not speak your language, it can get awkward. I specifically asked for English speaking tour guide. Also, the tour guide should not expect to have lunch with client. I had few private tours, and have invited one guide to have meal. It would be different if it was a small or large group tour. I was touring with my mother and had no intention of having meal with a stranger. He seemed little offended that I went over the budget and demanded his part of the lunch budget, which I gave. Overall it was good to have a private driver but did not have a tour guide.

As the person responsible for overseeing this tour, I was informed yesterday of a concerning report regarding the Seoraksan tour by our highly experienced and respected guide, Mr. Kwon. Based on my 13 years of experience, upon hearing the initial report, I had a strong sense that this would be an extremely difficult case. I was also concerned that it would be a particularly challenging day for our guide, who is one of the most professional and dedicated members of our team. Nevertheless, as always, I instructed him to treat the guests with the utmost professionalism and to do his very best. However, after reviewing the full report submitted by Mr. Kwon, I was frankly shocked. It is deeply troubling that he had to endure such an experience. Below, I am sharing Mr. Kwon’s detailed account of the tour. This is intended for the benefit of any prospective clients, to make it clear that there was no failure in our level of service and that our guide fulfilled his responsibilities with professionalism and integrity from beginning to end. I sincerely hope that the guest in question, Susan, will also take the time to read and reflect on this account. Here is our guide response; Yesterday, I met two guests, a Korean-American mother and daughter, on this Seoraksan tour. The meeting time was 7:30 AM, but the daughter, Susan, arrived 10 minutes late, and the tour began with her apologizing to me. (Typical Americans do not usually arrive late.) Since this tour is conducted in English, I naturally started the narration in English. When I mentioned that I would be narrating in English, Susan's mother said she was fine speaking Korean. Susan, however, explained that although her Korean is a lot broken, she understands the material and would ask questions if she didn't understand something, so she would appreciate it if I could explain it again in English at that time. Thus, I began giving explanations in Korean while driving. While I was explaining various things to the mother, Susan said she was tired and wanted to sleep even before getting in the car, and she slept the entire way to Seoraksan. When it came time to take the cable car (which customers must pay for), they insisted on going up by themselves, so the two of them went up alone while I waited at the platform. (It seems they felt it was a waste to pay for the guide's cable car ticket as well.) As soon as they came down, they claimed they weren't hungry since they had eaten something upstairs, so they said they would visit Sinheungsa Temple by themselves again.(I offered to be their guide, but they refused that as well) and told me to eat alone. However, since we always have lunch with our clients for meals we provide, I did not eat and waited on the way down until they returned. Then, I picked them up and we traveled to Nami Island. As soon as we arrived at Nami Island, they said they were hungry and wanted to eat immediately, so we ordered food at a restaurant inside of the island. However, the bill already exceeded the cost for three people budget. so when I mentioned the excess the cost, they just gave me the extra money and asked me to eat different other table(We always eat lunch all together for this tour when the lunch is included). The lunch cost would have been more than enough for three people to eat comfortably, so it is truly unreasonable for them to order like that and then complain about it?!! Susan slept the entire time, even during the drive from Seoraksan to Nami Island. I also had a feeling that she didn't understand Korean well and was going to spout nonsense, so I explained everything in English starting from Nami Island. Furthermore, when we were buying the Nami Island tickets (which the customer is supposed to pay for), she made a very displeased face, acting as if she couldn't believe they could possibly pay for the guide's ticket. It was only when I explained that I was purchasing discounted tickets for her using a company app and that guides don't accept payment that her hostile expression softened a little. Overall, their behavior was consistently inconsiderate, dismissive, and lacking basic courtesy. It seemed Susan did not understand the role of a guide at all and instead treated me as nothing more than a hired driver—someone she could ignore while she slept through the experience. Despite all of this, I remained professional, patient, and committed to fulfilling my responsibilities until the very end. Given that, receiving a negative review from her is both disappointing and revealing. It reflects more on her character than on the quality of the service provided. Frankly, I can only hope not to encounter guests like this again. Writing this has at least allowed me to clearly state my perspective.

Our guide, Adam, was highly professional, friendly, and exceptionally knowledgeable. He took the time to provide detailed explanations of the history and cultural significance of each site we visited. Additionally, he offered thoughtful recommendations for areas of interest that aligned with our preferences, making the tour feel personalized and engaging. Excellent day trip from Seoul

Mr. Kim was an amazing guide! His English is excellent, and he has a very friendly and engaging personality. He is an expert hiker who has climbed all the mountains in the area, so when the gondola was closed due to high winds and we had to pivot and hike the trail instead, he was ready. He told us about the geography, language and history of Korea, shared stories about growing up in the area, and even offered suggestions for future adventures based on his own world travels. He asked about the foods we liked and when I told him I had really enjoyed some dakgalbi (a regional dish from Chuncheon) when I was in Korea long ago, he found a local restaurant that served us dakgalbi for lunch and it was amazing. Taking a break from the city and enjoying Korea’s beautiful mountains and nature is absolutely worthwhile! It’s a long day, but really interesting and rewarding.

Thank you so much for your warm and wonderful review. I think your kindness made our guide Kim work even nicer to guide you. We look forward to seeing you again on your next visit to Korea.
