Our group of ten had a wonderful experience on this tour with Maria. She was warm, engaging, and extremely knowledgeable. The tour was well‑paced and thorough, and she guided us through the site with clear explanations and interesting facts at every stop. The total time was just over two hours, which worked perfectly since we were heading to Pompeii afterward. I would absolutely recommend this tour to anyone visiting the area.

Maria was an excellent guide. Her knowledge of the detail and history was excellent
We took a tour of Herculaneum with Roberto and we loved it! Roberto was very knowledgeable, had a good sense of humor, and was able to adjust his delivery to our needs. He is clearly enthusiastic about the amazing artifacts in Herculaneum. His enthusiasm rubs off on those who take the tour. I especially like that. He was very open to us asking questions. He answered with authority and understanding. A summary of what we did: he described the overall situation in Herculaneum, the eruption and its consequences, in then took us into the museum to show us the artifacts that were found inside the homes and on peoples bodies, like jewelry. Then we walked through the city itself. The sequence was very appropriate, as it allowed us to visualize the jewelry on the people and the glasses and spoons on the tables in the rooms of the houses that we viewed. Overall, a fantastic tour, well worth the value! I should also add that we saw Pompeii two years ago, and it is definitely worth it to see Herculaneum also.
We took a two hour tour of Herculaneum with Maria. She was fantastic with keeping our younger kids interested throughout our tour. She provided a wealth of knowledge and we felt like we covered the whole town easily. Thank you Maria!
Best tour ever! Mariagrazia was very knowledgeable and passionate about her tour. I would recommend anybody visiting Herculaneum to have her show you around
Amedeo gave our family of four a wonderful tour of Herculeneum, far more engaging than an audio guide -- especially for our 14 and 11 year old boys. His mastery of and passion for the material was evident throughout, especially during our ongoing Q&A. The site itself is incredible in many ways and well worth an excursion from nearby hubs. (In our case, Rome.)
Amedeo was my guide, and he was helpful and very nice. This was an amazing experience, and there were a lot of different things to see. There were mosaics, carbonated wood, part of a boat, and even ancient advertisements. Having a private tour was helpful, as I could ask a lot of questions, but a non-private tour would also be fine.
Sandretti Tours, selected Mariagrazia as the guide for the afternoon's visit to Herculeneum. What a thoughtful, intelligent, naturally curious and knowledgable professional archeaologist she is to vividly bring life back into Herculeneum in a vivacious manner. Her research and teaching makes her a patient guide who explored geography, engineering, seismology, ancient belief systems, politics, history, science, the built environment, interior design, trades and crafts, social culture and familial connections. An awsome polymath who could be placed on any dig and make new discoveries or gain new insights others might miss. Maria cited fascinating evidence, both local and from the research she continues to read, that provided a compelling narrative of Roman life in 79AD and the catastrophic disaster that befell the community. It felt like we were walking in the footsteps of those who perished. Italy should be proud of such fine academics and support their continued work, as clearly there is still much to learn from these ancestors. So thankyou Maria and Sandretti tours for providing one of the best hightlights of our five month journey through Europe. Maria, how fortunate for Ana that she has you as her mum, what a fascinating life you will gift her, just by being yourself. Thankyou for conveying the wonder so joyously. It is an rare thing. Grazie mille.
Our guide, Amedeo, was wonderful. He was extremely knowledgeable and, equally important, very skilled at sharing his knowledge—with such enthusiasm!
