Great experience exploring highlights on Gran Canaria with "the best" guide, Israel. So knowledgeable about the culture, history; unique tour with local flavor ---family owned winery, typical villages, exquisite local cuisine, beautiful landscape views. $ well spent!
Dear Gary, Thank you so much for your lovely comment. It was a pleasure to be your guide during your cruise stop in Las Palmas. It was a great time that we shared and hope that soon we can meet again. Big and warm hugs for you and the rest of the group!
The whole experience was great! Touring with Israel is like having a friend or relative show you around and tell you all about the sights. We definitely recommend Blick Gran Canaria.
Dear Marv, thanks so much for your review, what a great time we had! Was a pleasure to be your guide and I'm glad to know you enjoyed the experience. I send you both a big hug and hope to meet you soon again. Greetings from Gran Canaria!
Oh my, what a day we had. Israel picked us up right on time and we were off. He kept us informed about the history of the island, the geological events, and of course, the beautiful vistas. We thoroughly enjoyed the visit to the small winery and the wine was surprisingly good. The drive up to the mountains was amazing. Highly recommend over a shipboard excursion.
Hi Dale, thanks for this amazing review! I'm so happy that you enjoyed all the experince and you had a great day. I send you a big hug and wish you all the best, hope to see you soon again to show you more of Gran Canaria.
If you would like to experience more of Gran Canaria than Las Palmas, this is the tour for you. We visited volcanoes, calderas, scenic villages, a small but beautiful church, a more than hundred year old winery for wine tasting and its display of decades old wine manufacturing tools and methods, and scenic view from the highest peak in Gran Canaria. Highly recommended.
Wow Michael! Thanks a lot for this nice review, it's always nice to have nice feedback, it means that we achieved the goal of creating a good time for our clients and motivates me to keep doing the job the way I do. Thanks for the great day!
Israel was an outstanding guide! Friendly, knowledgable, informative, excellent English, and gave us a super tour!!
Dear Neals, thanks for your nice review. Was my pleasure to share that day with you both and Im glad to know you had enjoyed the tour. I wish you all the best and hope to see you again soon.
Israel was a great guide. He provided drinks and snacks. Took us to places where the big busses could not go and we saw amazing views of the island and nearby Tenerife island. He was knowledgable of the island's geography and history.
Dear Neal, thanks for your nice review. Was my pleasure to share that day with you both and Im glad to know you had enjoyed the tour. I wish you all the best and hope to see you again soon.
This day tour was a great trip. Over the course of the day you can see so much of Gran Canaria and get a real sense of the variety of landscapes across the island. It also allowed us to see areas which we probably wouldn't have gone to on our own, particularly the smaller villages. Our guide Isra's local knowledge was fantastic, and he is a very friendly and fun guide. The trip to the vineyard was very interesting, and the differences between the semi-tropical areas in the north, the pine forests in the mountains, and the arid regions to the south were all best appreciated on this tour. It was relaxed, and unrushed and it really felt like Isra cared about our day, and wasn't just rushing us from place to place. I would highly recommend this trip.
I'm so happy to know that the tour was a nice experience for you but to know that you enjoyed it makes me even more happy, the best reward as tour guide I can have is to know the tour achived your expectations. Thanks for your feedback! Hope to meet you soon again and show you more of this great Island.
Having visited Gran Canaria and not ventured away from the hotel, beach and bars we wanted to discover more about the islands, its history and taste some wine whilst we were at. The visit to the San Juan winery brought back memories of previous visits to vinyards but Maria, with her quirky style (“look” she kept saying) made it entertaining and it was good to see pictures from the early 1900s matching the equipment that was being shown and described to us. The views of the calderas (the remains of volcanic eruptions) were amazing and my particular favourite. Our guide Isra was perfect. He had facts at his finger tips but didn’t bombard us and went at our pace. We enjoyed the church and the walk around the pretty town of Santa Brígida - it was beautiful. On a trip like this, where there is invariably a distance to drive, you want a comfortable vehicle and a safe driver. We had both. Those windy mountain roads gave us stunning views too. At one point we could see over the clouds and there was Tenerife in the distance. Amazing. All in all this was the perfect trip to get to know more of the island, its geography/geology and its wine making. We loved it.
Dear Peter, thank you very much for such a nice review, it is always a satisfaction to know that you have enjoyed the tour and that it has become an experience that you will always remember. Reading your comments it seems that you have enjoyed it to the fullest, it is the best reward you can have as a guide. I wish you a nice trip and we will wait for you in Gran Canaria whenever you want.
First the positive. Israel picked us up on time and was a friendly, well-informed guide. The car was comfortable. However, the tour lasted 5 hours, not 7 (as advertised). We were picked up at 9:15am and dropped off at around 2pm. The bag lunch was sparse (eg., a package of dry crackers but no cheese or other topping). We didn’t stop at a restaurant for lunch (nor was that option offered to us)—which is probably why the tour was 2 hours short. We note in at least one other review, they stopped at a restaurant for lunch, so we’re not sure what happened there. The visit to the winery was ok. The owner is a nice 88 year old man but the winery itself is pretty old and underwhelming. The wine sample we were served was barely drinkable (a vintage, we were told, that was only 3 months old). The highlight of the tour was a visit to the highest point on the island which was very crowded with cars and people but had great views. Israel was a nice guy who tried hard to please, and I’m reluctant to provide a less-than-positive review. However, the tour was simply not worth the almost CDN$700 we paid for it.
Dear Mr. Murray, how sorry I am that the tour did not meet your expectations, I will certainly take note of your review to improve. I appreciate that you have highlighted my treatment and my ability as a guide. However, I would like to explain to you some things about the tour and its hiring, which I think would be interesting to clarify. When you contract a “tour only” option, it is understood that the client does not want to make a stop for lunch, and in the event that they want to make a stop, it is also the client's part to express their desire, after all, that is what a private tour is for, as a guide it is difficult to know the wishes of each client, if you had said that you wanted to stop for lunch, I would have gladly adapted the tour, my intention is, whenever possible, to please the clients' wishes. Regarding the picnic bag, I'm sorry that it wasn't to your liking either, but saying it like that, it seems like it only had one cookie in the bag, and in reality the bag has a banana, apple, chocolate bar, croissant, cookie and juice, and also, during the tour, It is offered soft drinks and water. Regarding the visit to the winery, as I explained, wine production in Gran Canaria is low, we do not have large production plants and the wineries that exist, are family businesses that preserve the structure and machinery that was used more than 100 years ago, perhaps for that reason, it seemed old to you, in fact I think you could not appreciate the new tanks and machinery that are currently used for the production and bottling of wine, and that they turned on especially so that you could see how currently the process of the winery is. About the quality of the wine, I think you forget the explanation, that the wines produced in Gran Canaria are mostly young wines. In any case, I sincerely thank you for your opinion, it will help me improve and seek the best service for my clients, and again I thank you for commenting on my treatment of you and professionalism, I wish you a happy trip and I hope to see you again in Gran Canaria.
The tour was amazing. Visited nice places, had some very good wine and food and with Israel the best Guide. We can only highly recommend this Tour!
