Igreja de St. Hripsime é um dos famosos edifícios eclesiásticos na cidade de Echmiadzin. Este é o exemplo desenvolvido e perfeito de igrejas de cruz-cúpula na Armênia. A igreja é notável por sua simplicidade arquitetônica e altitude. A tumba da mártir cristã Virgem Hripsime está na sacristia da igreja. O local está incluído na Lista do Patrimônio Cultural Mundial da UNESCO.
Não muito longe da Catedral de Echmiadzin, contra o fundo dos picos brancos de Ararat, pode-se ver a silhueta da cúpula da igreja de St. Gayane. Foi construído no século VII e pertence ao estilo da basílica cúpula. Segundo a lenda, esta igreja foi construída sobre a tumba da Virgem Gayane, que havia sido martirizada por pregar o cristianismo. O local está incluído na Lista do Patrimônio Cultural Mundial da UNESCO.
O centro da igreja apostólica armênia - St. Echmiadzin está localizado a 20 km de Yerevan. A Catedral de Echmiadzin foi fundada no início do século IV e é uma das igrejas mais antigas do mundo. Segundo a lenda, a igreja foi construída no lugar onde a aparição de Jesus Cristo foi vista a Gregório o Iluminador no sonho. O interior da igreja é coberto por frescos, criados pela família Hovnatanyan. A residência dos católicos e a Academia Teológica estão localizadas perto da Catedral. O local está incluído na Lista do Patrimônio Cultural Mundial da UNESCO.
Este maravilhoso templo é fruto da destreza e da criatividade corajosa dos arquitetos armênios do século VII. Tendo sido construída sobre várias colunas, foi capaz de sobreviver apenas até o século 10. Quando no início do século XX este local estava sendo escavado, muitos especialistas dificilmente poderiam aceitar seu modelo de reconstrução, projetado pelo famoso arquiteto armênio Toros Toramanyan, como era difícil acreditar, que uma construção tão enorme e complicada poderia ter sido construída naqueles dias, e surpreendentemente nessa altura um dos bas-relieves da igreja de St. Chapelle em Paris veio para provar a versão de Toramanyan; o bas-reliever retrata o templo de Zvartnots com o Arca de Noé e parece com o modelo, representado pelo arquiteto. O local está incluído na Lista do Patrimônio Cultural Mundial da UNESCO.

This was one of the most enjoyable experiences. Our tour guide, Gayane, was knowledgeable, informative, attentive, and polite. The journey to the sights was smooth and comfortable, thank you Joseph (driver). Overall, it was a wonderful experience that we would highly recommend. One tip for future travellers: make sure to wear comfortable shoes.

Had a very lovely tour today of some of the oldest churches/cathedrals in the world which are still in use. Guide Hayk was very knowledgeable about everything to do with the churches which was good and I learned a lot. The coach supplies small pastries and a lot of refrigerated water on board along with decent air conditioning to tackle the July heat. Keep in mind that there was a 2000 AMD admission fee for the museum in the oldest cathedral in the world but imo that was worth it as there is a lot of rare items taken from Jesus' time and a guided tour around the museum is included. Also keep in mind that since it is a relatively short tour, no lunch breaks are provided so maybe take a couple snacks. Overall 10/10 experience. Oh yeah and Hayk's playing of this ancient instrument was great 😁. Thanks to driver Karen too for the smooth journey.
