Good quality Bikes and the ride was stunning yet challenging. Loved the scenery and the guides. I will suggest that you add a short tour of wine making, as the ride to the one farm to taste lovely wines and then a repeat of it at the next farm is too low key for my taste.
Thank you for taking the time to leave us this review. We are glad you loved our guides and the beautiful scenery. We truly appreciate your positive comments on these aspects of your experience. We understand your suggestion regarding adding a short tour of wine making to enhance the overall experience. However, we'd like to clarify that the tour you booked is one of our budget-friendly options, which focuses primarily on the cycling and wine tasting adventure. While we don't include wine making tours in this particular package, we do offer luxury tours that provide a more comprehensive experience. If you are interested in exploring the wine-making process and enjoying tastings at multiple farms, we would recommend considering one of our luxury tours in the future. These tours are designed to provide a more immersive wine experience, but they do come at a higher cost due to the additional activities included. Once again, we appreciate your feedback and hope to have the opportunity to welcome you on one of our luxury tours in the future, where you can indulge in both the captivating cycling journey and the finer aspects of wine culture.
The bike tour in general was very nice and we did enjoyed it; beautiful landscapes and our guide was great, helpfull and gave us a lot of informations, not only about wines but about life in genetal in South Africa. We had two tastings: the first three wines were very good, the second ones were ok. It was very nice to have two tastings arranged also for our child, which was a plus on the tour. On the other hand, we think that the tour was not a proper "family" tour, specially when you have to carry a buggy with a 5 years old child. it has been much more demanding than expected by the website descripcion. Also we didn't expected to go on the highway...although it was a short way, we would have preferred to avoid it, again specially carrying a child.
Hi there Dora, thank you for the review and we are so glad that you managed to enjoy your day with us. The family tour is a 13km off-road vineyard cycle as stated in the website and unfortunately in South Africa, most of our vineyards are planted on slopes. This does mean that there will be an element of incline in the tour. It is for this reason that the guide will offer to tow the children for parents but in this day and age parents of the little tykes will often want to do it themselves. We do also have the option to upgrade to Ebikes that we find parents like to choose if they are not sure that they can pull their little ones for the 13km and we apologise of this was not highlighted enough on your booking, we put this option directly below the children add on option on the booking page. We do apologise that you spent a short portion of your tour on next to a dual carriageway (not highway as you have stated) but this was needed as a shortcut as the family was struggling with the buggy as you mentioned. We take all of your critique into consideration and will look at a better way to highlight all of the necessary information on our website for all future guests on tour with us.
We cycled through the landscape of Stelbosch and it was very beautiful. The 3 farms we visited were very nice and had nice wine. Good explanation with the wine and our tour guide was very nice
Next to the amazing wines, the beautiful sceneries and the proper bikes we got, our tour guide Abie made this day very special. Due a cancellation, we had a private tour and therefore had enough time to discuss plenty of topics with Abie. Next to the information he gave us about the country, the wines and the region we are traveling through, his open minded approach to this word made this a really special day. Abie has a heart of gold and took plenty of time to discuss all sorts of topics from different angles. Abie, thank you so much for this experience, your kindness and honesty. It was a real pleasure. Wishing you all the best! Mike & Manouk
Thanks for your lovely review Mike! We'll be sure to pass on your kind words to Abi Safe travels onward
Abby was a wonderful, kind, thoughtful, skilled guide. He adjusted to our needs and made sure we had a combination of fun, wine, exercise, sun and learning about the wine business. MORE CAPE TOWNIAN LOCALS SHOULD GO!
Hi Daniel, Thank you for the lovely review, we are so glad that you enjoyed the tour with your guide Abi. We totally agree that more locals should join us on these awesome vineyard cycles rides :) We do hope to see you back in the winelands on your next trip! Safe travels onward.
A very nice tour with super friendly guide Ethan. Really had a fantastic day; lots of laughter, nice cycling, and of course eaten and drank. Also learned a lot! Unlike many of these bike tours, there are very nice (and I think new!) bikes available here, really great! Not to mention negative!
Dionne, your review is wonderful thank you so much for the thoughts.
We had an amazing day with our guide, Lee. He has to be the best guide we have ever had on a tour. He was very knowledgeable about the wine and vineyards, as well as the bikes and our safety. All the bikes were top quality and well maintained. The wines and pairings were all delightful. We look forward to going back and doing more tours with Lee and Bikes n Wines.
Lee will be delighted to hear that you had such a great day with him. Our guides love to show off their knowledge and their country.
Great tour around 4 completely different wineries, sampling some lovely wine (whilst been educated about them) and some great food. Some of the cycling isn’t for the faint hearted (we’re not particularly fit and it can get hot!) but the tour was a fab way to learn about the history of the area and make great memories. Our tour guide - Innocent - was amazing and his knowledge was second to none and really looked after us. To top it off he even sent us all the photos he had taken at the end of the trip so we got to takeaway all those memories too. The route is a mix of on-road and off-road; mixing up hill with downhill and would definitely recommend to anyone who is a keen cycler or confident on a bike.
Wow, what a great review - Innocent will be so glad that you endured the Stellenbosch heat and has such a great time with him!
Thank you for a great tour and a special thank you to Innocent, our guide. Your sense of humour and the way you took special care of me, an older (let's say, mature) lady who was a bit nervous about her first time on a men's bike, were just amazing. I could walk when I felt like it and the tour was adapted so that we all got something out of it. 3 wine tastings and an excellent lunch, as well. Highly recommended.
Hi Rifke - Inno's response when we told him of this lovely review "Ahweee...great!".. Thank you for the glowing review and kind words. We do hope that you join us again (next time on a EBike) if you're ever back in SA. Safe travels and happy cycling The Bikes 'n Wines Crew
The Stellenbosch Vineyard Meander we went on this past Saturday was Excellent. We got to see the wine lands in a totally different way than usual. Got to taste some of the best wine and the beautiful scenery. Would definitely recommend this tour and we already booked our next tour, this time in Franschhoek.
Thank you for your great review Angelique! We hope you will be back soon!
