A inauguração do Museu Arqueológico de Varna e seu desenvolvimento posterior está intimamente ligada aos nomes dos dois irmãos Herman e Karel Škorpil, tchecos por origem, que vieram ajudar na educação e cultura de sua nação irmã eslava após a libertação da Bulgária de o jugo turco. Em 1894, eles se estabeleceram permanentemente em Varna. Em 12 de dezembro de 1901, um grupo de figuras e professores socialmente ativos estabeleceu a Sociedade Arqueológica de Varna que, há décadas, tem sido o poder motivador básico para o interesse e o estudo da história de Varna, região de Varna e nordeste da Bulgária. A inauguração de um museu arqueológico foi uma tarefa de primordial importância para a Sociedade. O edifício foi originalmente construído para ser uma escola secundária entre 1892 e 1898, após o projeto do famoso arquiteto búlgaro Petko Momchilov. O estilo arquitetônico é um novo renascimento. O edifício é composto por uma área de cave e dois andares. Quase forma um quadrado completo e inclui um amplo pátio interno. Alguns dos quartos e corredores estão decorados com pinturas nas paredes. Um corredor contínuo percorre todo o edifício, levando às salas de exposições.

This museum is like everything in Bulgary, the content is interesting but the people are not ready for tourism. We arrived at the museum with children 1 hour before the closure. They didn't want to sold ticket for an hour. We explained that it was ok for us as we were with children. They accepted but asked us to be at the exist 10 minutes before the closure. After 15 minutes, some guardians asked already us to move to the exit. We finally did the full visit in 45 minutes after having be asked 5 times to move to the exit. Nothing ready for french people. No audio guide proposed as mentioned on the website. Ps. Don't visit yhe toilet...
This activity gave us the guides notes and an entry which made me buy it. Great value for money. Recommend to anyone on an individual trip. In my case it was with the business partners.
While in Varna we booked this activity which features an e-guide and entrance to the Archaeological museum. It's wonderful to have all the guides notes and to explore at your own pace. Real bargain with the entry.
This was a total rip off. I spent $11.50 for admission instead of a few lev. They gave me nothing & told me to read the English on the walls. You should be ashamed of yourselves for selling this
