What a good experience with this group and how friendly and professional the guide. Gentlemen I super recommend it because they are all so nice and I would personally use them again for future tours.
Fantastic whole day trip in Tulum archaeological site, swimming in the cenote caves, dining in the Mayan village and topped with a visit to Playa del Carmen. Well worth the money. Great presentations by our tour guides Moo and Estrella who gave a real insight into Mayan culture and life 1000 years ago.
We enjoyed the tour guy Hector knowledge. Didn’t like the Mayan ritual that they want us to join in on, because I am a devoted Christian.
Excellent service, very well trained staff and for the price is more than great a real tour to see many places
So by starting again so much we were disappointed first no French guide when it was well stipulated in our booking. Second a null buffet because we had to arrive the last and there was almost nothing left. In addition, we were charged for drinks without notifying us that it was not included while in our reservation nowhere was written that drinks were not included. We have filed a complaint and we are still waiting for a return from the tour operator. In short, I do not recommend this Excursion. Our group of 7 people was very disappointed..
The tour is an all day event. You will not be home until 11pm-midnight. There is an additional $30USD fee at the end of the tour outside of what you paid at booking. The tour itself was fun. At the time of purchase they had a VIP option with open bar on the bus. I enjoyed our time at the ruins, playa del carmen 5th ave, tulum and the local market place. You must try the market place coconut ice cream & it’s non diary. The cenote had mosquitoes so I opted out. The Mayan ritual prayer was a cultural highlight. I loved the “jungle Uber” during the Mayan pyramids tours, it saves time to view everything for $50 pesos per personal cart ride. The lunch was okay, you should bring snacks or eat a good breakfast in the morning, you will plenty time to eat on the ride there. The transportation pick up depends on how many people are on the tour but it will more than an hour waiting. All in all I would book again. I got my moneys worth.
Thank you for sharing your experience! We’re thrilled you enjoyed the tour highlights, from the ruins and cultural rituals to the "jungle Uber" and local flavors. Your feedback is invaluable, and we appreciate your tips for future guests. We hope to welcome you again on your next adventure! Best regards, The Cancun Guru Team
We enjoyed and had a good time even though it rained. Had a few problem but the biggest one for me and my friend was the tour guide spoke mostly in Spanish. I wanted to know the history, etc. so I missed that.
Dear Cristina, Thank you for your feedback. We're happy to hear you enjoyed the tour, but we apologize for the lack of balance in the guide’s language. We understand how important it is to fully enjoy the history and information shared. We'll take this into account to improve the bilingual experience on future tours. Your comments are valuable to us, and we hope to welcome you back soon. Best regards, Customer Service Team
We did the 5x1 Tulum tour. It is listed as approximately 8 hours and by the time we left it was going on 12 hours. It started off running late and it only got worse time management-wise. Jorge and Abril were great guides( which is why I gave 2 stars) but beware of the extra costs. First, prior to booking, we were informed of the $30 per person fee upon arrival at Tulum. Only after getting checked in, we were then told there was another at Coba and then a life jacket fee at the Cenote. They were minimal but should be disclosed prior to booking. Lunch was scheduled for 2:30, however, by the time we got there it was closer to 3:30. Apparently drinks are not included in the buffet and they ran out of bottled water so they could upsell you on their $10 drinks. We had to buy water on the bus because if you don’t buy the drink package, which we didn’t because we didn’t plan on having beer. I guess water was part of that. You can’t take bottled water into Tulum, so after hiking 2 miles in the heat and humidity we then had to buy water on the bus. A couple people got sick and/or heat stroke, so they had to leave. Coba was pretty cool to see. I recommend the bike taxi. Bring bug spray. They will have a small 2 ounce bottle to sell you for $12 if you forget. Coba and the cenote were infested with mosquitos. We left the Cenote at 6:30pm and from there we had an almost 2 hour bus ride to Playa del Carmen. Thankfully we were staying in Playa so we were dropped off and didn’t do the shopping trip. Those continuing on to Cancun still had another 2+ hours before they would get home. They were told they’d be back around 10:30pm which on this trip translates to 11:30-12am. I would suggest a shorter excursion or you should pack snacks and maybe a camel pack so you have water with you.
Amazing and educational experience. The guides, Avelino, Daniel and Hector were superb. Cancun Guru touring company was very responsive and reachable when needed. Will highly recommend using their services.
The tour was scammy. First, the tour which includes pickup time and drop off time ended up being over 12 hours!!! No wifi on bus, even though it is wifi capable. Other tour buses in parking lot had free wifi so you can connect to one of those. Jimmy, our tour guide, was not upfront with added fees. He tried to sell their drinks package and warning us that buying drinks at each site would be crazy expensive. He even tried to sell bug spray and stated his bug spray is more effective than the spray at the store, even though it's the exact same bottle! And it turns out, you don't even need bug spray ..the winds from ocean kept bugs away anyway. If you want to see some Mayan ruins, he tried to convince us to buy a bike rental saying it's a 5 mile round trip hike. Of course, if you bought his drink package, bike rental was included. No drink package, you are literally on your own as Jimmy would not help you rent a bike. And you almost have to rent a bike, because you do not have enough time to see the ruins if you choose to walk. He also did not tell us that swimming in the cenote costs extra since there is a life jacket rental charge. The lunch buffet was poor. The food has been left out for way too long and options are quite limited. Ever heard of food safety? And again, drinks are extra unless you pay for his drinks package. Even water is not included. And to top it all off, he insisted that we all tip them, even singling out people who from came from Europe since he noted that Europeans usually don't tip. How scammy. There are better tour operators out there that go to the same sites. Do NOT go on this tour and beware of Jimmy. You have been warned.
