Esta excursão exclusiva de 2 dias é uma visita guiada a 11 igrejas monolíticas esculpidas na rocha no século 12. Essas igrejas em Lalibela foram construídas como uma Nova Jerusalém em uma época em que Jerusalém era inacessível. Os visitantes serão apanhados no aeroporto, deixados no hotel para almoçar por conta própria e depois levados para o grupo de igrejas do norte, seguido de uma visita ao museu. O segundo dia começa com uma viagem de 42 quilômetros até a igreja Yimrehane Krestos construída em uma caverna. Esta bela igreja construída em madeira e pedra antecede em oitenta anos as igrejas escavadas na rocha de Lalibela. No fundo dessa caverna podem ser vistos alguns dos restos centenários mumificados de 5.500 peregrinos. Uma vila próxima é opcional, pois o visitante retorna a Lalibela para o almoço em seu hotel e para o passeio à tarde pelo aglomerado de igrejas e Bet Giyorgis (São Jorge) construído em homenagem a São Jorge, o santo padroeiro da Etiópia. O pick up ocorre na manhã seguinte após o café da manhã para o traslado ao aeroporto.

An amazing place. Unique in many ways. Worth going there anytime, but Timket is best. Colourful, music and singing, the tradition, the history, the UNESCO class architecture. Plus the market and the little climbing to the monastery at 3000 m!

Before arriving in Lalibela, I met an Ethiopian guide who told me that one day would be enough to see the place. But that wasn’t true at all.
