Em Vravrona, você encontrará uma mistura cativante de história antiga e herança cristã. Aninhada ao lado do templo de Ártemis/Diana está a igreja de São Jorge, criando uma justaposição única. Este local, situado numa zona húmida costeira, costumava inundar todos os invernos, levando à construção de pontes que ainda hoje existem.
Descubra o Templo de Ártemis: Dedicado à deusa Ártemis, protetora dos caçadores, dos animais e dos partos, Vravrona possui um significado histórico único. Diz a lenda que Ártemis, irritada com a morte de duas jovens ursas, infligiu uma praga a Atenas. Para apaziguá-la, os atenienses enviaram meninas de 5 a 10 anos para servi-la em seu templo, conhecidas como arkti (ursas). Festivais como o Vravronia eram realizados aqui, apresentando recitações de música, esportes e poesia.
Localizado perto do imponente santuário de Ártemis, em meio a uma vegetação exuberante, este pequeno museu guarda tesouros de Vravrona e Mesogeia. As exposições vão desde a era pré-histórica até a romana, com destaques incluindo esculturas de "Ursas" e representações de jovens devotos em homenagem à deusa Ártemis. Tas met us at our cruise ship, and loaded up our luggage. He brought Greek cookies, and stopped to buy us coffee! (not an easy task) Driving through the countryside was gorgeous, with small farms & animals. We spent a lovely day at the Temple of Artemis, which is truly a hidden gem! Not too many people, fascinating ruins to walk through, and an excellent museum. Tas is a wealth of historical and cultural information, and truly kind and personable. Most highly recommended!!!

This all-day trip was a fantastic way to see some of the sights outside the city. Peter was a great driver and guide during the travel times between sites. The actual sites themselves were at your own pace, which was a fun way to dig into the history as much as we wanted. The entire tour was great, but the Temple of Poseidon was the highlight (along with lunch on the coast).
