Unforgettable experience

Seeing Hamilton at the Victoria Palace Theatre in London was an unforgettable experience. The production is a non-stop wave of high-energy. Beyond the incredible and diverse musical style and infectious rhythms the compelling storytelling brings history to life in a way that feels deeply relevant and moving. The venue itself is absolutely beautiful, and the staff were incredibly helpful and welcoming from the moment we arrived. All and all an unforgettable experience.

Amazing

Love, love , love Hamilton. First time seeing the actual show in person but a big fan of the sound track and have seen the televised Broadway version multiple times. It’s definitely a good idea to watch it in advance with sub titles as the lyrics can be fast and hard to keep track of. There is very little actual dialogue so the songs tell the story - and it is a story that not many British people will be familiar with. So having a bit of knowledge in advance is definitely going to make some elements more enjoyable. But the whole score is just one sensational song after another and the simple staging makes it feel intimate and accessible. Can’t wait to see it again - the cast was strong and full of energy and just provided a perfect afternoon of top class entertainment.

Excellent

I knew nothing about the show. It was fantastic. I googled the story on the way home to fully get the picture. Great singing/rapping, catchy music and King George was v funny. Interval ice cream £4, pretty reasonable!

Great show, bad second row seats!

Took my 12 year old to see Hamilton but the second row seats were awful! The stage is really high so it was hard to see everything. I requested a cushion when I heard they were offered but then one of the employees took it back saying that my son was too tall while sitting on it. My advice is to avoid the first five rows.

Successful musical for non-native speakers

At my daughter's request, we watched the musical during our visit to London at the Victoria Palace Theatre. Although rap and hip hop are not one of my favorite music genres, I found the musical very exciting. I couldn't understand everything that was sung because my English skills weren't good enough for it, but the story still had to be followed. Even the small funny scenes, among others when George III gives his view of American aspirations for independence, are very amusing. Costumes and set design are well done in my opinion. It was a very entertaining evening for the four of us.

Long awaited visit to see this outstanding show

Whilst we attended a matinee performance which meant having a couple of understudies performing, this show was great. Every character was brilliant and the entire show was as expected. The sound and effects were outstanding and whilst tickets are fairly pricey, it definitely seemed value for money. The bar offerings were limited but the staff were extremely welcoming and friendly. The merchandise was good but prices were a little bit steep. The facilities were all clean and well maintained. Will definitely return to see this show again.

cocktails served straight from the can!

I am not particularly into musicals or even theatre for that matter but had a great time at Hamilton in the west-end. I would highly recommend it to anyone else & my only criticism would be the prices of the cocktails which were served from a can.

Nice play

The play was ok. I haven’t seen the American version. I didn’t connect with the music much. But some of the songs were nice.

Loved it - it encouraged me to tell a story

I am surprised at the reviewers who found it hard to follow. I do think you get more and more out of it the more you see/listen to it. I watched it a handful of times on Disney Plus before seeing it in London so I knew what to expect and knew a lot of the words to the songs. Hamilton, in fact, influenced me to publish my late father’s Vietnam War fictional memoir (Don’t Break My Rice Bowl). Hamilton’s song at the end - who lives who dies who tells your story’ stayed in my head.

Brilliant!!! When you know the story and the music in advance

Know the story in advance I saw Hamilton twice, slightly different cast, different seating, both times a fantastic experience. First of all, Mirandas score and lyrics are absolutely fantastic! To enjoy the performance, people should absolutely make themselves familiar with the story and the music on beforehand - otherwise, it must be really overwhelming. I heard the music several times, saw the film once and read part of the Chernow book, and all of this heightened the experience. The London cast was fabulous! On the first night, Jay Perry as Aaron Burr and the Adam J Bernard (understudy) as Hamilton. This was my favorite night. The second night, the Manaia Glassey-Ohlson as Aaron Burr and Alex Sawyer as Hamilton. They were excellent, I just personally favored the interpretation of Perry and Bernard. Of other actors, I was so very impressed with * Hume as George Washington! He absolutely embodied Washington, as general and as president * Yeukayi Ushe as Jefferson (and Lafayette) * Jordan Caste as Hercules Mulligan. His elegance & comedic wit!! Emily-Mae and Bente Mulan were excellent, their roles just give less possibility for the kind of individuality that other actors got to display in Jefferson and Mulligan. A note for Miranda's next work, maybe? Seating: * In early January, it was NOT hot! * I personally preferred being in Stalls, row B - I loved being so close to the actors and I had no problem with vision. I am tall, though, and did not have a tall person in front of me. Good leg space (am 175 cm) * Second night I was in Royal Circle, row B and that was uncomfortable leg space-wise. There were a few things that I saw better than from the stalls, but there were also things I saw from stalls that were not visible when in Royal Circle. Do go watch it - unless you dislike rap and political history!
