Out of the city and into the country side, I saw what real life was like in Cambodia, with buffalo drawn carts, local weaving and a quick school visit with the opportunity to interact with the children. Then back for authentic Khmer cooking class.

Having kids as teenagers is kind of difficult ‘till I had a trip to Siem Reap and met Mr. Pich who did a great job and created lots of memories for my family. Especially, my relationship with family and kids became closer and closer by taking a trip to Siem Reap. BTW, Thanks Mr. Pich and hope to see ya again. After the Covid-19 pandemic.
We were a group of 3 adults, 1 teenage, and 3 kids. At 8:30am, our tour guide Pich picked us up from the hotel with 2 tuk tuks. The 1-hour ride going from the city to the countryside was quite fun. The countryside was a bit dusty, and our guide was very thoughtful to give us masks. On the way, we stopped by a field to have a look at some plants and animals. Then we reached Roluos Market. Pich led us through the market, and stopped by some of the stalls for us to try the fruits and food. Then we had a chance to visit a secondary school to interact with the students and teachers. This was my favourite part. After the visit, our guide arranged 2 ox carts for us. We rode for about 30 minutes. After that, Pich took us to a really nice restaurant. We had traditional Cambodian lunch in a hut (with Wi-Fi access) surrounded by trees and flowers. After lunch, the original plan was to take us back to the hotel to rest until 3:00pm. But instead, we requested them to take us to the War Museum for a 1-hour visit. After that, they drove us to Lucky Mall, where we did some supermarket shopping before meeting up with the second party (Sophos Cooking Class). From there, another set of Tuk Tuks took us to the cooking class venue, which was a semi-open wooden house right beside the chef's home. Sophos was very professional. He took us around the countryside on foot to have a look (and smell) of the organic gardens, briefing us about how the different plants for cooking. We also picked spices on the way. Back to the house, he taught us how to cook a 3-course Cambodian meal. We enjoyed cooking and eating our self-made dinner. Overall, the day was excellent and nicely arranged. The tour fee already included transportation to and from hotel, lunch, cooking class, and ingredients for cooking class.
