Tanah Lot significa "Terra [no] Mar" na língua balinesa. Localizado em Tabanan, a cerca de 20 quilômetros (12 milhas) de Denpasar, o templo fica em uma grande rocha costeira que foi moldada continuamente ao longo dos anos pela maré do oceano. O templo de Tanah Lot foi construído e faz parte da mitologia balinesa há séculos. O templo é um dos sete templos do mar ao redor da costa balinesa. Cada um dos templos do mar foi estabelecido à vista do próximo para formar uma cadeia ao longo da costa sudoeste. Além da mitologia balinesa, o templo foi significativamente influenciado pelo hinduísmo.

O Templo Taman Ayun pode ser traduzido literalmente como "belo jardim" e é geralmente considerado um dos templos mais atraentes de Bali. O templo Taman Ayun está situado em um belo parque com árvores e lagoas perto da vila de Mengwi, no sul de Bali, cerca de 8 km a sudoeste de Ubud e 18 km a noroeste de Denpasar. Pura Taman Ayun foi construído em 1634 pelo Raja de Mengwi, I Gusti Agung Putu. É o chamado Pura Kawiten, ou templo familiar, um templo especial onde os ancestrais divinizados da Dinastia Raja de Mengwi e deuses importantes de outros templos são homenageados.

The driver/guide, Nik was very tentative on what we needed, on time, guided us through the sights, waited patiently for us to take all those beautiful photos of the temples. We had a wonderful time, although the traffic was bad and it was cloudy no dramatic sunset. We highly recommend this tour and Nik as your guide.

Nik was able to weave his way thru the heavy Bali traffic, made worse by road and bridge closures after the recent deadly floods, and get us to both temples with plenty of time to enjoy them. We even managed to squeeze in a visit to a coffee plantation - well done Nik! The temples were peaceful and quiet and filled us with a sense of calm and serenity. Well worth the visit.

Well worth the trip! We were picked up directly from our villa in Seminyak. Putu our guide/driver was early, and did an excellent job of getting us safely through the traffic! Putu accompanied us at all times, sharing his knowledge of the history and traditions associated with both temples. The car was clean, with good air conditioning & free bottled water. Would definitely recommend to others.

Nyoman took us to Tanah Lot and Taman Ayun temples. Taman Ayun was quiet and beautiful; definitely a little off the beaten path but worth a visit if you have time. Tanah Lot was beautiful, especially if you can walk around the coastline area. It was a great afternoon excursion, and Nyoman took really great photos of us! He was really nice and communicated about the experience— it was great to have someone to take us around and get beautiful sunset pics!
