What a wonderful tea experience led by a tea master. Not only did we get to make our own tea, but we also learned the ceremonial components of a tea experience. We also got a beautiful sweet to enjoy. The staff was gracious, educational, and great hosts. We loved the geisha dance performance in the intimate environment. We would recommend this tour!
We visited Tokyo, Fukagawa as a family of four from Texas. We had Japanese traditional tea experience, and we had a great time as a family touching in to the Japanese culture. Sitting together in a traditional tatami room with our host, a Fukagawa geisha, explained that everything around us was made from natural materials with nothing artificial. Without thinking, I laughed and asked, “Wait… does that mean even the tatami could be eaten?” The whole room filled with laughter. But then, our host gently smiled and said “Yes… if you really wanted to, you could. It’s all from nature.” After our host explaining how Japanese culture respected nature, my family and I were very impressed by the connection they had between with the environment. This tea experience taught us more than just drinking tea and eating sweets. It taught us how much we needed to protect and respect nature.
Rather than a standardized, packaged experience designed for tourists, this place offers a more intimate and authentic glimpse into Japanese culture.
I joined a cultural experience in Fukagawa with my Japanese and Italian friends —and it completely exceeded my expectations. Inside a serene shrine, we met the Japanese geishas who welcomed us with a wonderful welcoming. But the highlight for me was dressing up as Sukeroku. It wasn’t just a costume—it felt like stepping into the spirit of Fukagawa itself, where style, pride, and artistry came together. In Italy, we celebrate beauty and passion—but here, it’s expressed with a quiet confidence and depth that’s truly captivating. If you’re looking for something authentic and unforgettable, this is it.
I had an incredible experience here. What impressed me most was how we could see authentic Japanese culture up close—it didn’t feel staged at all. The hosts went far beyond the program, patiently explaining things I didn’t even know to ask about. I learned not only about traditional customs but also about modern Japanese life. It made me realize how much effort it takes to preserve these traditions over generations. I truly respect what they are doing.
We experienced the Ume Course and had a lovely time. The geisha was very friendly and gave our family a warm welcome. The stories about the history of the tea ceremony and the traditional utensils were interesting and enjoyable. Next time, we’d love to invite friends and try the Matsu Course to enjoy the cuisine as well.
Great experience. Beautiful show. Staff was very friendly and made us feel very comfortable. Had a great time!
One of the most wonderful cultural experiences I’ve ever had. I ended up going myself because the other person got sick and I’m so glad I opted to still have this experience. Each of the geishas were so charming, polite, and incredibly interesting women. They were very well-versed in Japanese history and cultural traditions. Even as an English speaker, one of the geishas was an expert translator, and clearly communicated the history and cultural significance of each practice to me. The dances and performances were beautiful, and the fashion was breathtaking. I got a chance to try on a kimono and the traditional Geisha garb and I felt so beautiful. I also got a chance to play some of the instruments, which were not my strong suit, but were very fun nonetheless. The food was also delicious. I got the sukiyaki which was flavorful yet not overdone. And even after the performance was over, the geishas and I sat and talked for a long time about our respective cultures and the history of Japan. Each geisha is incredibly intelligent, eloquent, and captivating. We talked for hours and I didn’t want to leave. Go experience this for yourself, you will not regret it. It will be one of the most memorable experiences you have in Japan..
This was absolutely 💯 wonderful. We got to see the traditional tea ceremony and how the seating would occur. The dance was a perfect ending to a perfect tour. Very descriptive and honored to have been able to partake in this.
What an amazing experience. They took the time to explain the entire tea ceremony and the dance. Both of the hostesses were incredibly kind and knowledgeable. They even went so far as to walk us to a restaurant when we asked where to eat.
