I had an absolutely amazing time exploring Borobudur and Prambanan, all thanks to our incredible guide, Seta! He didn't just take me from point A to point B; he brought the ancient stories to life with his detailed explanations. A very well run & organised trip. I had Maxi as my driver for the day, who met me at 6am and gave a lowdown of the day and Yogyakarta in general. We headed to a small temple en route to Borobudur where Maxi gave me a personal tour full of knowledge & jokes. Following this a quick pitstop for coffee & any breakfast snacks needed before heading into Borobudur. A full tour guide experience, in a pair of rather comfortable pandan shoes. Maxi looked after my stuff during the tour and met me afterwards. He adapted the tour to meet my breakfast needs, a nasi goreng & spicy sambal. Then we had a relaxed journey to Prambanan temple where Maxi turned tour guide again. He gave me a full explanation of the history and setting of the temple, while guiding me to expert photospots. Ending with a short walk to the Buddhist temples at Prambanan, we topped up with water and Maxi drove me back to my hotel. 5/5, would highly recommend doing this tour and definitely ask for Maxi! I will pass on his details to my friends when they come to Yogyakarta. Oh and a cold towel was waiting for me each time I got in the car, champion tour guide.
