we did this tour the day after arriving to heathrow from the US. it was the perfect jet lag antidote. it was what i expected, but yet so much more at the same time. the cuteness, oh the cuteness of these little english towns, so charming. loved the stone circles. bill was super interesting, friendly, funny, and super clear about timetables, places to eat, and restrooms (good cafes with pasties which they don’t have in US and which are delightful) we would definitely go on another tour with mad max/go tours uk. thank you bill! we had 3 nights in bath and it was perfect.
This was an excellent experience. We went on the tour as a family of four. Even our teen/tween kids had a great time. Bill is an excellent guide - very knowledgeable, kind, and funny! Would highly recommend this tour to anyone.
I had been looking forward to this experience for months, and it did not disappoint! The day was a well curated blend of charming Cotswold villages and prehistoric sites and struck a good balance between educational and exploratory. Our guide, Andy, was a veteran Mad Max guide who really enriched the experience with historical details, story telling, good humor, and great driving play lists. The timing at each stop felt about right and allowed us ample opportunity to explore on our own. We left and returned exactly as the itinerary had dictated, and the shuttle bus was so nice, clean, and air conditioned! I can't recommend this tour enough. It was a great value and the highlight of our trip!
Probably one of the best day tours we have done; small group (16) and a fantastic tour guide (Andy). Great locations and terrific commentary both historical and current. It was relaxed and super friendly. Andy made the day informative and kept us entertained with his locally themed anecdotes and his wonderful sense of humor. Andy seemed like he was genuinely enjoying himself and he definitely won all of us over. All-in-all I would say it was a wonderful experience and a thoroughly enjoyable tour. I highly recommend this tour with MadMax. Tony & Victoria
Kevin was amazing, full of good information and good humour. We thoroughly enjoyed our day. My only comment would be to add the stonehenge ticket price into the price. I would highly recommend this trip, a perfect day!
Fantastic tour. Sean was knowledgeable, enthusiastic and entertaining! Trip was timed well and we avoided big crowds. We learned a lot and thoroughly enjoyed this!
I would like to thank our tour guide SHAUN for making the trip very lively, he is so accommodating and full of life in telling us history of places. The tour was so great we enjoyed so much! I work in Cornwall with my husband and we are with our friend from America. It was really a lifetime great memories! Thank you SHAUN and Mad max tours!
Bill showed us a great time! He was funny, thoughtful, and offered good tips for seeing more in the area. Our trip was during record breaking heat, and Bill rearranged the day so we could be strategic about shade and sun exposure. The air conditioning in the van was a life saver. I highly recommend this tour. I was surprised at how much we loved Avebury and joining the grazing sheep while we took in the stones and shade. You can plan a picnic but you can't plan the weather : )
The Cotswolds was lovely but Stonehenge was a disaster— my husband was robbed! We were not warned that this was such an unsafe place by the tour company. Mad Max tours refused to take responsibility and would not refund our money. Only $19 which was insulting and only a fraction of the price that we both paid. They do not care about their customers and will not take ownership of the situation. A Travel attorney I talked to told me that the tour guide should have warned us that this was a very unsafe environment. After telling numerous people of our experience on this tour, we have now discovered that thefts occur at Stonehedge all the time! Mad Max tours does not care about their customer’s safety nor are they interested in compensating for a situation that was caused by their omission of information.
We're sorry to read about what happened during your visit to Stonehenge. We understand that this was frustrating & disappointing and that it affected your enjoyment of the day. To clarify a couple of things: the item went missing during free time at Stonehenge, which is a public attraction operated independently from us, and not while travelling with us or whilst with your Driver-Guide. We have no way of knowing exactly what happened to the item — whether it was lost, misplaced, dropped, or taken by a third party — and so it would not be appropriate for us to speculate. As with any public attraction, visitors remain responsible for their personal belongings. We would also respectfully disagree with the suggestion that Stonehenge is unsafe. It is one of the most visited and well-managed heritage sites in the country. While incidents involving personal property can unfortunately occur anywhere members of the public gather, that does not make the site itself unsafe. We're disappointed that this incident overshadowed what sounds like an otherwise enjoyable day in the Cotswolds, and we wish you both all the best. Max
The tour of Cotswold went lovely however when we got to Stonehenge, we were not warned that this was an extremely unsafe place and my husband was robbed. Within 30 minutes of his wallet being taken thousands of dollars was charged to our accounts. I spoke with a Travel attorney who told me that this was a frequent occurrence and we should’ve been warned that Stonehenge was a very unsafe place and to watch out— we were not given any warning. I am putting this information here because there is no way to reach anyone at Viator to make a formal complaint and request a refund; however, after having this experience, we would never ever go to Stonehenge or recommend anyone else going.
