Basílica de Santhome, Little Mount e St Thomas Mount
Esta imponente catedral católica romana, a poucos passos da praia, foi fundada pelos portugueses em 1523, depois reconstruída pelos ingleses em estilo neo-gótico em 1896, e diz-se que marca o lugar de descanso final do Apóstolo São Tomás. Acredita-se que "Duvidar Thomas" trouxe o cristianismo para o subcontinente em 52 dC e foi morto em St Thomas Mount, Chennai, em 72 dC. Embora a maior parte dos restos mortais de São Tomás esteja aparentemente na Itália, uma cruz na parede do sepulcro contém um pequeno fragmento de osso marcado como "Relíquia de São Tomás". O museu acima exibe artefatos relacionados a Thomas, incluindo a cabeça de lança que acredita tê-lo matado. O St. Thomas 'Pole, na extremidade da praia, no lado sul da catedral, salvou milagrosamente a catedral do tsunami de 2004.
Little Mount é uma caverna na qual St. Thomas se escondeu em 68 dC e fez penitência. Há uma abertura para o leste da caverna através da qual St. Thomas escapou quando seus perseguidores o alcançaram aqui. O local de renome do martírio de São Tomás, em 72 dC, ergue-se no sudoeste de Chennai, 2,5 km ao norte da estação de trem St Thomas Mount e da estação de metrô. A Igreja de Nossa Senhora da Expectativa, construída sobre o monte pelos portugueses em 1523, contém o que supostamente é um fragmento do osso do dedo de Thomas e a "Cruz Sangrenta" que ele esculpiu. As vistas da cidade e do aeroporto são maravilhosas.

It was a great experience. My guide, Rajesh was very polite and is knowledgable of the locations. I managed to even attend the mass at the Tomb of St Thomas (although that take a bit more time). I also was able to be inside the cave at the Mount of St Thomas where St Thomas prayed. Then we ended it at the St Thomas Basilica where the blood of St Thomas was spilled. I was able to touch it and say my prayers. It was well worth it.

Positive: Close to points to see, driver very available, very friendly guide and knew how to adapt his English (rhythm...) to our level of language. Medium: lunch (too spicy), we regretted not being able to get close to the source that we could see from a distance through a gap in the rock Negative: too expensive for what there was to see
