Jerome was very informative and took us to some very fine wineries indeed The whole experience was really excellent. Jerome was on time, the van was first class and his knowledge of Rhine/Mosel wine was extensive. Highly recommended.
Vielen Dank!! What a fun and relaxed tour with you guys. Thank you so much for your booking with BottleStops - hope to see you again soon. Safe travels!
Really good, knowledgeable and nice guide, highly recommended 👍
Danke, Patrick, very happy you enjoyed the day!
The winery trail with Jerome was truly a wonderful experience! As visitors who are not local, this tour was the perfect way to discover the region’s outstanding Riesling wines and learn about the local wine culture in an authentic and relaxed way. Jerome is an excellent guide — incredibly knowledgeable, passionate, and welcoming. He made the entire day enjoyable. We visited different wineries. One of the highlights was the visit to a lovely distillery where we enjoyed a delicious, fresh lunch that truly made us feel at home as well tasting the different wines. Everything was perfectly organized and absolutely worth the money. Highly recommended!
Danke, Karen, for your kind words! It was a pleasure having you on the BottleStops tour - hope to see you soon again for another wine experience! Bis dann!
What a brilliant day! Our wine tour with Bottle Stop Mainz was really an absolute highlight and even exceeded our expectations. Originally, a wine tour in Rhineland-Palatinate was planned for small groups, but on suggestion it turned into a round trip, which also led through Rhineland-Palatinate on the way back. A great idea — and that’s exactly what made the tour special. With Jerome Hainz we had a guide who just brought everything with him: super friendly, incredibly competent, relaxed, funny and always attentive. You immediately noticed that he not only really knows a lot about wine, but is also there with real enthusiasm. Whether wine, history or culture of the region — Jerome could tell an exciting and entertaining story about everything. We found the stories around Eberbach Monastery and its influence on viticulture particularly impressive. It was also really great how much Jerome responded to us and our wishes. In Rüdesheim we took a break with wine tastings from different wines of the region and delicious snacks — just wonderful. Jerome had a great flair for each of us and knew amazingly well what we could taste. Another highlight was the stop at the Braunewell winery in Rheinhessen. There we were advised by the sommelier of the winery and were able to taste excellent wines. In general, you had the feeling all day long that you were traveling with someone who is welcome everywhere. Jerome knew people personally in many places, we were warmly welcomed and well looked after everywhere — this gave the whole tour a very special, personal touch. To top it all off Jerome dropped us off at the hotel together with our purchased wines and even gave us tips for a nice evening in Mainz. More service and cordiality is really hardly possible. Honestly: If you want to go on a wine tour in the region, you should book Jerome. It's hard to make a day like this better. 5 stars are actually too few here!
Ganz herzlichen Dank, H., für die freundliche Bewertung der BottleStops tour! Es war schön, mit Euch unterwegs gewesen zu sein. Bis demnächst mal wieder in unseren Weinregionen.
What a lovely day exploring, learning and of course tasting wine! Jerome is very knowledgeable and curated a wonderful experience. We really appreciated his selection of locations and wineries. Each brought something different to the day, and it was a great combination.
Ganz herzlichen Dank, thank you for having chosen BottleStops! Pleasure was all mine - love to travel with such open an interested guests! Glad I could contribute to a great day. Bis bald mal wieder!
My daughter and I booked this trip with Jerome in December and ended up having a private tour with Jerome. Jerome was an absolutely wonderful guide! He was extremely knowledgeable of both the history of the region and the wines we tasted. Would highly recommend this tour! Thank you Jerome for a fabulous day!!!
Thank you, ladies, for touring with me at BottleStops. Delighted you enjoyed your experience! Bis bald wieder in Germany :-) 🇩🇪
What an awesome day, Jerome had the best knowledge of the area and wine. It was the perfect mix of locations, wine, food and experience I would recommend this to anyone. 6 of us were very comfortable and the ration of driving to tasting was excellent. I must also mentioned that Jerome pulled this together for us in less then 7 days, what a legend!
🍾 dankedanke! Thanks so much for your review. Don’t be a stranger when your travels take you to our wine regions again! Merry Christmas to down under!
One of the best things about BottleStops tours is that they are relatively small groups, but large enough that you usually have a couple of different people with different backgrounds. Jerome is an incredibly knowledgeable guide and has the experience to combine the 'what' of wine tasting in this fantastic region with the 'how' of the development of the wine industry and culture. My tour was wonderfully organized, well executed, and fascinating. The wine selections and tastings were exceptional. What a great opportunity.
Thank you so much for this feedback. Freue mich! And thanks for pointing out that not on wine matters, but all it's history, culture, industry... Cheers and do check in again next time you are in the region! Bis dann! :-)
I lived in Frankfurt for several years. During that time, I had great pleasure in exploring the world of Riesling and German wine in the Rheingau and Rheinhessen areas, as well as almost all all the other German wine producing areas. The Rheingau in particular, with it’s history of winemaking fascinated me and I discovered a world of Riesling at its very best. I have always wanted to go back to this truly amazing area, and have for years talked to my son and son-in-law - both of whom share my passion for wine at its best - about arranging a visit to this magical stretch of the Rhine River that for some 40 or so km, runs east west from Rüdesheim to Mainz, The Rheingau is in my humble opinion, the home of some of the best Riesling’s in the world of wine. This opportunity arose in October this year and after contacting several guide companies, we decided to engage Jerome Heinz of Bottlestops to be our guide for a 2 day (Saturday and Sunday) private tour. Our decision to use Jerome was based on the way he understood our needs for a tour that would have the right balance between the the history surrounding Riesling ad the new wave of innovative winemakers developing red (Pinot noir) and whitle (Pinot gris) wine in the face of changing climate. We had two days that were absolutely amazing. Jerome proved to be the perfect guide. He structured our two days so as to give us insight into cutting edge wine making - innovation, imagination and experimentation on day 1 and then a deep-dive into the history of the region on day 2 - the role of the monasteries and the development of viticulture (Eberbach and Johannisberg - with visits to the cellars followed by tastings), while at the same time giving us insight into the cultural heritage of wine making. He knew his stuff! Highly knowledgeable and well attuned to our level of wine appreciation. He was also real fun to be with - a host with the most. We tasted Spätburgunders (Pinot noirs) that were on a par with the best Pinots from Burgundy, Grauburgunders (Pinot gris) that were complex and mouth filling. Then of course we delighted in Riesling in all its variants (Kabinett, Trocken, Spätlese and more……). Fortunately we were disciplined and used the spittoon well. Rarely have I had to regret spitting and pouring out wine so often so as to clear my palate for the next wine delight. Swallowing every drop would have left me befuddled. Add to this - well chosen lunch breaks to enjoy local traditional cuisine. Our luggage included 40m of bubble wrap and tape (essential equipment for a wine tour such as this), and we managed (2 well packed suitcases slightly overweight) to bring back 25 bottles of the best of the estates we visited. We look forward ro many good mealtimes well accompanied by excellent wine and great memories from the Rheingau and Rheinhessen! If you are looking for a few days focussed on German wine and German wine culture at its best - contact Jerome Heinz at Bottlestops (Bottlestops.com).
Thanks so much for the detailed review, R., and even more for having chosen BottleStops for your private tour experience! It was a pleasure traveling with you! Do check in again anytime your travels take you back into this beautiful part of the wine world!
Jacob did a great job as tour director. This is not just a wine tasting tour, but a history tour as well, and he blended both activities together perfectly. He is entertaining and knowledgeable about the area. He genuinely loves what he does and it shows. I highly recommend this tour, you won't regret it!
Thanks so much for recommending BottleStops! Jacob is a beautiful name, but I’m quite happy with my given name ‘Jérôme’ 😀. Thanks for pointing this out: I love this job! 🍾 And thanks again for travelling with BottleStops.
