We are 4 friends and we had a wonderful time meeting dolphins. They were at the rendezvous in large quantities. Floris is very friendly and gave us a lot of very interesting information about dolphins and the local ecosystem. The experiment was carried out with great respect for dolphins. And what a pleasure to shut down the engine and spend time, quietly, to observe them. Thank you Floris! The icing on the cake, we were treated at the end of our tour to a complete tour of the port of Sotogrande... what a beauty!!!
I booked a one-week participation in a dolphin research project with 3–5 outings, but all I got were two ordinary, short tourist dolphin boat trips (3 hours each) and a basement Airbnb with no internet. The local operator (WeWhale) was unreachable and took no responsibility. No research, team, no special program – just high extra costs. In reality, you get a poor Airbnb in a residential block in the basement (~€400) and 2 usual dolphin boat trips (€85 each). The €1,000 travel package was completely disappointing and very misleading. Socialbnb/WeWhale has scam-like qualities. Not recommended!
We must firmly clarify that this review does not describe the product listed here: Small Group Dolphin Tour on Hybrid Boat in Sotogrande (Product code: 400879P5). The reviewer is referring to a completely different programme purchased via SocialBnB, which has absolutely no connection to the dolphin tour we operate and promote on TripAdvisor. Our tour is a 2.5–3 hour small-group outing on a hybrid-electric boat, focused on respectful dolphin and whale watching. It does not include accommodation, research projects, or package costs of €1,000, as claimed in the review. The statement that “WeWhale has scam-like qualities” is not only false, but also damaging to our reputation. WeWhale is a conservation-driven organisation, and our guests consistently value us for offering authentic, sustainable experiences at sea. For transparency: guests booking through TripAdvisor receive exactly what is described in the product listing — a professional, eco-friendly dolphin watching tour from Sotogrande. We stand fully behind the quality of this service and invite you to read the experiences of our many satisfied guests.
I was recommend this tour by our hotel and was pleasantly surprised that it was an ecological and safer way of viewing the dolphins who live in the area. The captain and skipper were passionate about the animals and very knowledgeable about the area and animals. I love that the company goes above and beyond to monitor and keep the animals safe from other industries that are hurting the animals in the area. I had a wonderful tour and saw several large pods of dolphins which was very exciting.
We had a wonderful experience on board ‘Bretemia’, on 1st July. The waters were calm and the sky was clear. Marien and Andrea were very friendly and informative throughout our trip. We were lucky enough to see sun fish and a pod of common dolphins, which we followed for some time. We would highly recommend this excursion. Thank you for a great few hours.
