Must do! Book the 11:00 am if possible as it’s the first group of the day and less of a wait overall. Absolutely amazing views and so much fun!
Dear Traveler, Thank you so much for the enthusiastic "Must do!" recommendation! We are thrilled to hear you had so much fun and enjoyed the absolutely amazing views from the top of the mountain. Thank you also for sharing that fantastic insider tip with the Viator community—booking the 11:00 AM slot is indeed a great way to beat the peak crowds and enjoy a much shorter wait time! We hope to welcome you back to Sentry Hill for another flight down the Flying Dutchman in the future!
I loved it. I got to ride the Flying Dutchman then we did the ziplining. They had a bar at the top with a spot for music and good pictures.
Dear Morgan, Thank you so much for sharing your review! We are thrilled to hear that you loved your experience on the mountain and got to enjoy both the Flying Dutchman and our ziplines. It is wonderful to know that you had a chance to check out the bar at the peak, enjoy the music, and capture some great pictures of those beautiful views! We look forward to welcoming you back to Rainforest Adventures for more fun and great memories in the future.
We went on a day cruise ships weren’t in port. Our reservation was for 1:00. From the time we parked to the time we left, we were there an hour and 15 minutes. Took 20 ish minutes to ride the lift up. We just did the Flying Dutchman. It was okay but for the price not sure it was worth it. If you’ve never zip lined before, this could be a good one to do. Someone in our group doesn’t like heights and they thought it was okay.
Dear Traveler, Thank you for sharing your feedback with us! We are glad that your group—including the member who isn't a fan of heights—found the Flying Dutchman to be a manageable and smooth experience. Because you visited on a day when major cruise ships weren't in port, you got to experience our park at its absolute fastest pace! Without the typical crowds, guests are able to zip right through the ticketing, harness, and lift process in record time. We completely understand how a swift 1-hour and 15-minute total visit can make the ticket price feel a bit steep for a single descent, as most of our guests usually spend several hours on the mountain taking in the viewing decks or enjoying the restaurant. We appreciate your perspective, especially as a recommendation for beginners looking to conquer a fear of heights on the world's steepest zip line! We hope you enjoyed the rest of your time exploring St. Maarten.
We had a good time but it was pretty pricy for just one zipline. I’m not sure how much it was to add others but I expected more than one ride
Thank you for sharing your feedback with us. We are glad to hear that you had a good time and enjoyed the beautiful views from the mountain! We appreciate your perspective regarding the price and understand how a single ride can feel brief. Because the Flying Dutchman is a highly technical, record-breaking attraction—being the steepest zip line in the world—its ticketing is structured per descent. For future visits, we do offer several multi-attraction packages, such as our "Big Three" or "Full Experience" passes. These allow you to bundle the Flying Dutchman with our traditional canopy zip line course (which features multiple runs), the Schooner inner-tube slide, and unlimited use of the Sky Explorer chairlift for a much more comprehensive and cost-effective adventure. Thank you again for your valuable input, and we hope to welcome you back to explore more of our park's attractions next time!
Really really fun, youre first hit with adrenaline going down the mountain and next thing you know, youre enjoying the ride. 10/10 would do it again. The lines was a bit long but overall a great experience.
Dear Traveler, 10/10 would do it again—that is exactly what we love to hear! Thank you so much for sharing your review with the Viator community. We love your description of how that initial rush of adrenaline hits you as you launch down the mountain before transitioning into pure enjoyment. The Flying Dutchman is built precisely for that incredible thrill! We appreciate your patience with the lines during your visit, and we are so glad to hear that the overall experience was well worth it. We are ready whenever you are to welcome you back for another round of adrenaline at Sentry Hill!
Arrive earlier than reservation time. The bar is great. Bring water and sunscreen Bring your patience it’s a long wait.
Dear Traveler, Thank you so much for taking the time to share your review and for passing along such excellent, practical advice to fellow travelers! We love that you enjoyed your time at the bar, and your tips to bring water, sunscreen, and plenty of patience are spot on. Because the Flying Dutchman is the world's steepest zip line, it is an incredibly popular attraction. During peak hours, the wait times can indeed get long as our team meticulously manages safety protocols and harness transitions. Arriving earlier than your scheduled slot is the perfect way to beat the rush and secure your spot in the queue comfortably. We truly appreciate your patience during your visit and hope to welcome you back to Sentry Hill for another high-flying adventure soon!
It waa fun, but the line was waaaayy too long for a 30 second ride. My ride turned side ways and I couldn't see anything
Dear Traveler, Thank you for sharing your feedback with us. We are glad you found the ride fun, but we are genuinely sorry to hear that the wait time and your experience during the descent fell short of expectations. Because the Flying Dutchman is the steepest zip line in the world, it reaches incredible speeds, making the 45-second flight a very fast-paced thrill. During peak times, this popularity can result in longer lines as our team meticulously manages safety checks, which we understand can feel disproportionate to the length of the ride. We are also very sorry that your harness turned sideways during the descent, preventing you from enjoying the spectacular views of the island. While high winds or a guest's body positioning can occasionally cause a slight rotation on the line, we always want our guests to have a clear, forward-facing view of the horizon. Our ride technicians continuously monitor and adjust the equipment to minimize this, and we will pass your comment along to our maintenance team to check the gear. We appreciate your candid input as it helps us look closely at how we can improve our guest experience. We hope you might give us another chance in the future for a smoother, forward-facing flight.
Was really looking forward to this adventure but was left pretty disappointed. Arrived 20 minutes before my booking time. There was already a long line of people and a couple of moody staff wondering around. Doesn't matter if you prebook and fill in your waiver in advance - you just join the same long queue of people. We were then ushered through a dull museum to the chair lift. I'm not sure about the amazing views as they were behind you! On reaching the top I was quickly attached into the chair zip wire thing and set off. All over in 20 minutes. I was glad I was in and out quickly to be fair as it was pretty boring. The zip wire, I'm sure was safe and to code, but it felt old and broken. The wind was so strong we went down sideways which was also disappointing. Saw a lizard which was cool. Anyway, wouldn't rush back. Save you money and do something else.
Dear Traveler, Thank you for sharing your feedback with us. We are genuinely sorry to hear that your experience on the Sky Explorer and Flying Dutchman did not live up to your expectations and left you feeling disappointed. Please note that during the high season, the park tends to be full, which can unfortunately lead to longer wait times and busier check-in lines. We are currently looking into our procedures to better streamline the flow for our guests who pre-book and complete waivers in advance during these peak times. We also regret that our staff did not provide the warm, welcoming energy we strive for, and we will address this with our guest services team. Regarding the ride itself, the Flying Dutchman is designed to face forward to highlight the thrilling drop down Sentry Hill, though we understand how the strong winds during your descent made the experience less than ideal. Please rest assured that while our equipment is fully certified and strictly maintained to international safety codes, we take comments regarding its presentation very seriously and will pass this along to our maintenance department. We are glad you at least got to spot one of our local lizards during your visit. We appreciate your honest insights as they help us find areas where we can improve the experience for future guests.
I watched everything as critically as I could and was most pleased. Machinery and infrastructure looked very well cared for; staff clearly knew what they were doing AND seemed like they were having a great time. All very well and professionally done, if a little slow at the box office. I was disappointed I didn't distinguish that there were two zip lines - next time I'll do both. As to the Dutchman. For me, 45 minutes of anticipatory terror (I'm cripplingly afraid of heights) followed by 45 of the most wonderful seconds of my life. I'd love to do it all day, and really look forward to doing the canopy zip line after the Dutchman again. (Perhaps y'all can make its presence a little more obvious for the less-aware like me.) And. There are lots of opportunities to tip. At each level. And. I'm glad we went when there were no cruise ships in port.
Dear Traveler, Awww heck yeah! What an incredible review—thank you so much for sharing your experience with us! First, congratulations on conquering that crippling fear of heights! Turning 45 minutes of anticipatory terror into 45 of the most wonderful seconds of your life on the Flying Dutchman is a massive victory, and we are absolutely honored to have been part of that milestone. As someone who looked at everything with a critical eye, your high praise regarding our infrastructure, machinery, and professional staff means the world to us. Our team loves what they do, and we're thrilled that energy shined through. We do appreciate your note about the slower pace at the box office and will work on streamlining our check-in process. We also take your feedback to heart about making our secondary zip line experiences more distinct and obvious at booking—we definitely want you to try the canopy tour next time! Going on a non-cruise day is indeed a great insider secret for a more relaxed pace. We cannot wait to welcome you back to Sentry Hill for another round of high-flying adrenaline!
A lot of fun but overpriced for a 45 second thrill. Need to be better organized. Was not told you need to sign up once you get to the top.
Dear Traveler, Thank you for your review. We are glad to hear you had a lot of fun on the Flying Dutchman, but we appreciate your feedback regarding the organization and perceived value. Because the Flying Dutchman is the world's steepest zip line, it reaches very high speeds, making the adrenaline-filled descent a quick one! We understand how this can feel brief for the price point, and we take your comments on value seriously. We are also very sorry for the lack of communication regarding the check-in process at the top of the mountain. We strive to make our operations as clear as possible, and we will work with our staff to ensure all guests are properly informed about signing up for their ride slot before heading up. Thank you for helping us improve, and we hope to welcome you back for a smoother experience in the future.
