We had chosen this factory counting on enough time for a demonstration (15 to 20 minutes). The wait was moderate, but the demonstration itself (a vase, then a small horse) was extremely short: after 6 and a half minutes we were told it was over and we were invited to go to the showroom. Furthermore, there were about 40 of us tourists attending the demonstration, and we were advised not to sit down so that everyone could get in and see, with no regard for the elderly. Admittedly, seeing the skill and dexterity of the glassblowers is worthy of admiration, but paying €5 per person for 6 and a half minutes of demonstration, even if the price is not excessive, is a tourist trap and it tarnishes the image of Venice and Murano. This absolutely must be improved.
This was amazing! We got to see up close the extremely talented glass blower create from a glass ball - in extreme heat - and turn it into a beautiful piece of art - a horse! To see it taking shape was incredible. I couldn't wait to visit the showroom and I ended up ordering a custom (made for me!) Murano glass and crystal chandelier which will be created by a renowned chandelier artist. I also purchased a one-of-a-kind art piece glass bowl.
As far as I am concerned, it is a tourist trap. 5€ to see... yes, they show us how an object is made, but honestly, on the island, there are other glassblowers you can visit whenever you want and for free! Not at all my thing; I leave that to the tour operators who come in large numbers anyway. Too cliché and touristy. I really enjoyed seeing the others. Stroll through the village; the blowers have their doors open, so you can see them at work.
A good option to see the glass blowing if you go on your own. It is short (they make 2 figures), but enough for you to get an idea. They speak in Italian, and a little in English, but it is not 100% understood (it does not need that much explanation anyway).
The demonstration was fine. We definitely saw the artistry that goes into the beautiful pieces. However, we were shown into the store and were given the hard sell for the pieces. The ones in the showroom have very much inflated prices. But when you scoff, they tell you not to look at the prices, but to ask. I am not a fan of this tactic. Then when we did ask about a piece, we were taken into a room where they closed the door behind us. We were then to look at additional pieces. We were greeted by the owner who repeated all of the "spiel" that the original sales lady gave us. The went off and we darted out of the room. He followed us out with another man. I am assuming it was the artist that made the piece that I liked. We didn't stick around to know. I get it. It is very specialized work. But I do not respond at all to sales tactics like this.
The experience was so awesome! The art work is beautiful and they may us feel like royalty. We're happy to support a local family business.
A very beautiful experience; seeing the master create unique pieces live was something extraordinary. Recommended for all those who do not settle for stories told by others and want to understand how works of art are born by seeing with their own eyes.
Nice quick experience. Watching the masters create a couple pieces of glass art was a fun experience.
Fantastic experience, incredibly friendly staff, they helped us produce some fantastic items. Cannot recommend this enough!
The tour was very interesting and the glass maker was very talented!
