Mariam, filha do rei Ashot I, prometeu construir 30 igrejas em homenagem ao seu falecido marido. Ela manteve sua promessa por toda a vida. Uma delas, Sevanavank, foi construída em 874. Fundada no século 4, Sevanavank experimentou seu desenvolvimento no século 9. Além das duas igrejas de pé, o khachkar único do século XVII, com suas muitas cenas bíblicas, merece atenção especial. O nome da capital, Erevan, foi registrado pela primeira vez na cúpula de Sevanavank.
O primeiro lugar que visitaremos é o Lago Sevan, a beleza da Armênia. Estando a 1900 metros acima do nível do mar, Sevan é o segundo lago mais alto do mundo com abastecimento de água doce. Sevan, de origem vulcânica, é cercada por cadeias de montanhas divididas em duas partes e uma grande península. Lago Sevan goza de grande popularidade entre os turistas para recreação ativa e passiva. Com uma profundidade máxima de 83 metros, Sevan é o único dos três lagos históricos armênios localizados no território da República da Armênia.
Embora seja costume na Armênia usar principalmente pedras de tufo ou basalto para construção, dois tipos de pedras foram usados para o mosteiro de Haghartsin: travertina e basalto. Construído de pedra branca, este mosteiro tem tido seu próprio lugar na cultura e educação armênia desde o século 10. O mosteiro foi construído durante cerca de três séculos, no belo vale das florestas Tavush, no coração da floresta. Aqui está também o refetório do mosteiro, que é considerado uma obra-prima arquitetônica. Além das estruturas reais, há também um mausoléu real aqui. A propósito, gata muito saborosa é vendida perto aqui.
Um dos mais famosos centros espirituais e educacionais da Armênia medieval é Goshavank, que recebeu seu nome do multidalentado clérigo e cientista Mkhitar Gosh. A coleção de leis criadas por ele é considerada excepcional por seu tempo, e foi usada em muitas legislações do mundo até hoje. O complexo do mosteiro, composto por cinco igrejas, três capelas, um vestíbulo e um refetório, não deixará qualquer turista curioso indiferente. O mosteiro está localizado na aldeia de Gosh do mesmo nome. O khachkar bordado do século XIII, pertencente ao mestre Poghos, merece atenção especial.

Awesome full-day tour, car (minivan) in perfect conditions, WiFi onboard (!), on time at each point of stop/restart, lunch in an offline venue (Restart Boutique Hotel, quiet/peaceful/great food/private), good driver, gorgeous Armenian’s landscapes and historical masterpieces. On top of all that, however, one of the best guide in the planet, who managed to interact, involve, teach, share, emphasize her knowledge and professionalism. Ages just 23, ms Anna Symonian marked the difference from a “guided tour” to an unforgettable experience! Well done Anna and One Way Tours!
Very scenic, cool weather. Good mix of monastry and nature. I did in the midst of hot july month and this was a good escape from the burning sun. It is around 20 degrees most of the time, need a light jacket when the wind blow.
It was a wonderful day trip. Sambad knows a lot and lead an interesting tour. We learned a lot about Armenia.

In June, I joined the Sevan – Dilijan – Haghartsin – Goshavank – Ijevan Wine & Brandy Factory tour with One Way Tour, and it exceeded my expectations. The peaceful monasteries of Haghartsin and Goshavank, the stunning scenery of Lake Sevan, and the charming town of Dilijan made this trip unforgettable. The highlight for me was definitely the Ijevan Wine & Brandy Factory. Besides tasting excellent Armenian wines and brandy, we had a guided tour inside the factory, where we learned about the production process from grape to bottle. It was both informative and enjoyable, and gave us a deeper appreciation for Armenia's winemaking tradition. I highly recommend One Way Tour to anyone visiting Armenia. A long but great day! Our guide Ana was excellent, and so was the driver. I thought that the time allocated to each of the monasteries was perfect: enough to explore everything at a reasonable pace, but not too long either (in our group everyone more or less naturally finished exploring around the meeting time at each location).
