Os Trenós do Monte Toboggans se originaram no início do século 19, quando foram usados como primeiros meios de transporte público "em declive" pelos moradores locais que queriam viajar rapidamente da vila de Monte para a cidade do Funchal. Atualmente e há vários anos, os Sledges são usados para transportar milhares de turistas todos os anos, buscando um passeio cheio de emoções, adrenalina e uma experiência inesquecível com vistas esplêndidas sobre a cidade e além. Temos parceria com Carreiros do Monte para lhe proporcionar esta emocionante aventura. Vamos dar uma volta pelo Largo da Fonte, uma praça muito famosa e bonita com seus jardins, depois vamos ver a bela igreja do Monte, onde podemos encontrar a última tumba do último imperador austro-húngaro. No final, você fará o passeio divertido de descer no trenó do Toboggan. Nota: Observe que não é permitido andar no maior trenó quando você é apenas uma pessoa ou duas pessoas.

No altar-mor está a imagem de Nossa Senhora do Monte, venerada desde o início do assentamento da ilha da Madeira. Numa das capelas laterais estava o túmulo de Charles de Habsbourg, o último imperador da Áustria, que vivia exilado na Madeira.

Yippee! Great fun and so smooth. I was concerned that it would jar my spine but it was excellent. Very impressed by the photos taken as we whizzed past yet were ready as we clambered out. A wonderful fun experience.
Our guide was flexible and very helpful with pickups. We didn't have to wait much for the toboggan ride which saved alot of time so we could explore around the gardens and churches of Monte.
Marco was our guide to this ride. Gave a great history lesson the the origins of this toboggan ride. Great experience. Lots of fun, exciting, thrilling, something that everyone should do. Great to video the entire ride.

A fantastic experience and a great way to get down the steep roads of Madeira. It barely lasts 10 mins, but it's a must if you're going to this island. It's like you're in a 'Flintsone Rally Car' as your guides take you sideways around corners and pilot you through these tight streets. I would avoid doing this if the cruise ships are in as the queues for this and the cable car rides are ridiculous.
The trip was amazing, Eduardo & Francisco made sure to explain everything and much more! We explored great stops and hidden gems, highly recommended!
Our Private Trip started by meeting our guides Francisco and Eduardo right next to our hotel. The trip was perfect and they are very knowledgeable. It felt like a going on a trip with our friends. Since it is a private, we felt very comfortable with timing and took our time to explore any part of the trip without any urgency like the big bus tours. Totally recommend this 3 hour tour to visit the town of Machico and go on the amazing Sled Ride.

We have done above tour in May 2022. Our guide was Richard, very sympathic, very friendly, we experienced and on the tour to Monte with already a lot of explanations. At Monte he shows and explainde us the railway museum and the history of the railway, the Botanic garden and the church with the history. Although in English the was no problem to understand and his explanation were excellent. Her bought the tickeect for the sledge and was waiting with us in the row for 1 hour until we got our sledge. The tour with the sledge was excellent and a big fun and shortly after arrival Richard picked us up at the arrival station to bring us back to the hotel. And, 1 week after return home, we received a lot of photos made by Richard. Let's summarize: It was a phantastic experience and can be very much recommended. And, Pearl of Atlantic has to alter our date and contcted us well in advance, in German language, so that we could find a solution which suits both of us. Next time at Madeira we will do this trip again.
We had a wonderful half day tour with Richard of the Monte area of Madeira and learned all about the history and the fact there was a train once upon a time. Of course, the toboggan sled was the highlight and we thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Yes it’s a tourist hotspot, but it was fabulous nevertheless!
