Varanasi representa a alma da Índia. Um visitante sozinho nunca pode esperar descobrir mais do que uma fração de seus segredos. Ainda assim, com a nossa ajuda, poderá descobrir a essência desta cidade cativante. Nosso passeio começará no ponto de encontro, de onde embarcaremos em uma viagem de 3 horas para descobrir os locais históricos e religiosos mais importantes. Visitaremos os Ghats, crematório, templos, ruas estreitas, mercados e barracas de comida populares, mas também pontos menos turísticos que são fundamentais para entender a realidade da Varanasi moderna. Durante o nosso passeio, iremos partilhar consigo informações históricas e outros factos importantes, mas também contar-lhe histórias interessantes sobre o nosso quotidiano, a nossa gastronomia e os nossos costumes.

Dashaswamedh Ghat:- Dashashwamedh ghat é um dos ghat mais antigos, espetaculares e importantes, localizado na margem do rio Gange, perto do antigo Templo Vishwanath em Kashi. O significado literal do Dashashwamedh é o Ghat (frente do rio) dos dez cavalos sacrificados (traço significa 10, ashwa significa cavalo, medh significa sacrifício). Existem duas mitologias sobre o ghat é que o Senhor Brahma foi criado o Dashashwamedh ghat para dar as boas-vindas ao Senhor Shiva, e a segunda é que o Senhor Brahma foi sacrificado os dez cavalos em um yajna aqui. Este ghat é famoso pelo Agni Pooja, que é realizado aqui diariamente à noite por um grupo de sacerdotes dedicados ao Senhor Shiva, Rio Ganges, Surya, Agni, bem como a todo o universo.
O Templo Vishalakshi, também conhecido como Templo Vishalakshi Gauri, é um dos templos proeminentes de Varanasi que pertence à Deusa Vishalakshi. A Deusa Vishalakshi é um aspecto da deusa Parvati ou Gauri e acredita-se que tenha olhos grandes, pois o nome também diz 'Vishalakshi = Vishal (grande) + akshi (olhos).' Rio Ganga. O templo é considerado um Shakti Pitha dedicado à Mãe Divina Hindu, Adi Shakti. O popular lugar sagrado em Varanasi faz parte da famosa tríade de templos, Kanchi Kamakshi, Madurai Meenakshi e Kashi Visalakshi. Considera-se que aqui caíram os brincos ou kundal da Deusa Sati.
Templo Nepalês: - Shri Samrajeswar Pashupatinath Mahadev Mandir, também conhecido como Nepali Mandir, Kanthwala Mandir e Mini Khajuraho, é um dos templos mais antigos e famosos da cidade sagrada de Varanasi. Este templo tem grande importância religiosa no Hinduísmo e é dedicado ao Senhor Shiva. O mandir é feito de terracota, pedra e madeira e levou três décadas para ser concluído. A madeira é à prova de cupins. É construído no estilo arquitetônico nepalês e é cercado por árvores de tamarindo e ficus religiosa (peepal).
Manikarnika Ghat: – Este Ghat é famoso por ser o local de cremação sagrado para os hindus. Manikarnika Ghat é um dos locais de cremação mais sagrados entre as margens sagradas do rio (Ghats), ao lado do rio Ganges. No hinduísmo, a morte é considerada uma porta de entrada para outra vida marcada pelo resultado do carma de alguém. Acredita-se que a alma de um humano atinge moksha e, portanto, quebra o ciclo de renascimento quando cremada aqui. O poço no ghat é chamado Manikarnika Kund e foi construído pelo Senhor Vishnu.
De acordo com o Senhor Vishnu, os devotos que tomam banho em Manikarnika e adoram Manikarnikeshwar não verão o útero da mãe novamente (ou seja, não haverá renascimento). O linga está localizado no subsolo, os devotos podem descer até o fundo para receber um darshan de Shri Manikarnikeshwar Mahadev.

This was the highlight of our visit to Varanasi. Akash was professional, knowledgeable and fun. He explained a lot of the intricacies of Hinduism, the crematiion process and traditions which gave us a deeper insight to this crazy city! He looked after us very well, would thoroughly recommenf.
This tour in Varanasi was really very interesting. The guide was super nice and helpful and the places visited (well 5) very charming. We also had access to a place usually closed to the public. Recommended! Duration about 3 hours.
