This review is based on expectations vs. reality. Our guide saved the overall experience by taking us off the beaten path to her home and through less populated trails. Unfortunately the planned/organized trek and home stay were not quite as expected. The listing stated that we would be able to pick from various routes when meeting up with our guide, however it seemed like there was really only one way to go to get to the home stay which was with every other guided group in Sapa. While the home stay may be on the property where locals live, it was more like a hostel that they had built to service guided tours. This all may be the only way to respectfully, ethically, and safely see the area in 2 days, but based on the description I was definitely expecting less tourists, more flexibility, and more connection to the surroundings. So if you’re looking for an “out there” adventure, this probably isn’t the experience. If you’re setting expectations as scratching the surface, this could suffice
2 beautiful days with a very pleasant Hmong guide..a little too many tourists at the exit of sapa but a beautiful route then between rice fields and bamboo forest..beautiful experience of a night at home!
Despite a very foggy and cold weather all the time, we still enjoyed our moment. Our guide shared a moment at her mother house which was one of our highlight in Vietnam
This trek was one of the highlights of our time in Vietnam. We had Sapa Sisters recommended to us by a family member and we were so happy with the experience. Booking was easy, efficient communication and our guide, Sam was fantastic. We loved hearing about Sam's life and literally walking in her footsteps was an amazing experience. We thoroughly enjoyed staying in a local home and the food was excellent. I will be going back!
Great organization to discover Sapa and its people and stay away from tourist traps. All women of the Hmong community, organize trekking of one or more days staying in the homes of locals also ensuring private rooms with all amenities. The guides all speak good English and are really nice! We spent two pleasant days with Ru who told us so much about the life of the Hmong community.
Amazing two days trekking and homestay guided by the marvellous Ru! We had excellent weather for the time of year and learnt a lot about the local Hmong tribes and their culture. The homestay was great too. Lovely clean accommodation and marvellous local food hosted by Shun and her family. An easy 5 stars throughout
From start to finish this trek was amazing. We met our guide, Little Chi, at the Sapa Sisters office and began our trek. Little Chi asked us throughout the trek which level of intensity we wanted and gave us options for food and the homestay. It was very foggy on our first day but that didn’t spoil the experience, The trek involved a lot of rough terrain and steep hills. Locals helped us on the first part of the trek to stop us slipping in the mud. our second day was clearer. The homestay was great as was the food along the way. Little Chi was so knowledgeable and spoke fantastic English. Little Chi even took us into her home and we met her family. In December you definitely need sturdy, waterproof shoes. We ended up buying Wellington boots from a local shop at our guided recommendation and I’m so glad we did. I would recommend this trek, it was a highlight of our trip.
Wow, this was truly spectacular. We booked with Sapa Sisters due to multiple recommendations from friends, and we were so glad that we did! They were ever so helpful from beginning to end. Communication via email was quick, professional and clear. We started our adventure at the Sapa Sisters office in Sapa and we met our guide Lan there. Lan, you are the best, always with a smile and you knew what we really wanted! We wanted the “easy” trek, but you still made sure that we experienced what we came for. You took us to the most wonderful of places, the scenery was out of this world. Thank you for taking us to your brother’s house for the night, and for all of you for making us feel comfortable and at home. Thank you for accepting us at your home to eat lunch with your beautiful family. The food was DELICIOUS 🤍. You made our experience so magical and we will forever be grateful to you. Once again, thank you Sapa Sisters for this beautiful experience. From the maltese couple with the jackets 😂🥵
Wow - what a great few days. Two days and one night home stay were perfect for us (family of 5 with teens). It meant we got to see plenty of beautiful scenery, experience local living, and learn some of the traditions and customs (Ker was an amazing and informative guide). Special mention for the home stay meals (dinner and lunch) - to die for and all sourced from local gardens. One recommendation - take good hiking boots as it gets super slippery when wet (we hiked in Dec).
My family and I really enjoyed our two day trek in Sa Pa and the one night Honestay. Our guide, Sam, was very knowledge and personable and we enjoyed spending the two days chatting to her and learning more about Sa Pa. As expected, the views were great and we enjoyed the meals along the way which were included in the package. We also enjoyed the homestay. The beds and living quarters were clean and comfortable and the meals were delicious as well. I would strongly recommend this to anyone interested in trekking in Sa Pa. Thank you Sam!
