Kathy was a fantastic, insightful guide to the Castro! From the moment we met up with her, it felt like we were with someone we'd known for years. We learned so much and I greatly appreciated her perspective as a longtime SF resident and active member of the community. She had an easygoing demeanor and good sense of humor in addition to lots of knowledge. This is important history that feels more and more under threat each day, so highlighting the crucial roles LGBTQ+ people have played in history and in particular SF was such a welcome reminder that you need to work to make progress and prosper.
I had a lovely tour with Kathy, recommended to me by a local friend! This was a great way to spend my first weekend in San Francisco.
Great immersive experience in the lgbtq culture of San Francisco. Kathy was our guide. She was sweet knowledgeable and very kind. Would recommend to anyone who wants to know more about the Castro.
The tour guide Kathy made us feel so welcomed. She is knowledgeable, funny and inspirational. Overall had an amazing time with her and other people on tour. I would 100% recommend this tour.
Brilliant tour with Kathy - a fabulous (and important) tour to take whilst in SF. Thank you Kathy! x
We did the Castro area tour with Kathy, and thought that it was great. We went at a time when there were no public tours, so we had to do a private tour. While more expensive, the private tour allowed for interesting and candid conversation about various issues, so that was definitely a bonus. The tour is an excellent introduction to the Castro area and to the LGBTQ+ community in SF and beyond. It was suitable for individuals with differing levels of knowledge, and Kathy was happy to answer questions or clarify as needed. At times the subject matter was more mature, so the tour may not be appropriate for younger children, though I suspect that Kathy could gear the tour to even a younger audience if this were discussed in advance. I should note that we are not members of the LGBTQ+ community ourselves, and felt very comfortable at all times. Kathy is very open-minded, friendly, and not dogmatic, so everyone can feel comfortable taking part in this tour.
Our dear friends visiting SF for the first time were keen on learning about the history of the gay rights movement in their continuing efforts to have an even better appreciation of the resilience and travails of those who came before them. Kathy was the PERFECT guide. She provided us each and all an excellent tour and experience. From the rainbow flag to the AIDS quilt to the stop at the library, she shared a story of human struggle and humanity’s hope from the past to the future. This experience is not some fluffy stroll through the Castro pointing out sights. It’s a genuine exploration of history from then to now. One of the best walking tours ever.
Everything about this tour was fantastic. Kathy was helpful, communicative, warm, entertaining and INSPIRING! She did a wonderful job of educating and sharing with us the illustrious history of the Castro District. I will absolutely do this tour again, and cannot recommend it enough! Thank you, Kathy!
Thanks Kathy for the walking tour. Very informative and great to learn more about the neighborhood and its history. Thanks again
Kathy was an amazing tour guide. I being part of this small group tour. She speaks of her lived experience in The Castro and is very well respected given the amount of locals who said Hi to her as they passed by. If you are looking for a relaxed tour of the Castro, whether you're straight, gay or anything else, this is the one to sign up for.
