Could not have been more pleasantly surprised with how amazing my the whole experience was. Expectations weren’t low or anything but we weren’t expecting the creative and interactive puzzles that had us bouncing around downtown and lead us to finding a new favorite bar of ours! Challenging but not frustrating, exciting but not too easy!
Had a fun time doing this escape box outside in my local city. My brother (45), Niece (12) and myself (29) had fun finding new places and solving puzzles. Even my niece was able to solve some things the adults couldn't figure out! I hope they make more boxes in Utah so I have more Staycation options in the future!
Fun activity with my daughter.
We did this as a family. We have 4 teenagers. They were in and out of being interested. Some of the puzzles to solve were hard and would have never gotten if we did not have the cheats to help. Doing a regular escape room is better with our teens. They all get really involved with it. My husband and I really enjoyed doing the outside escape room. It gave us the chance to see things in our city we never knew was there. And we have lived here all our lives.
After searching out for hosted games we could do as a team builder for our staff and not finding great reviews on the other companies in SLC we shifted gears and went with a self guided murder mystery tour through downtown SLC. The Escapely box was waiting at our office when we flew in our staff from all over the world and we set out to solve our mystery. It was an awesome time walking around SLC in not so great weather but it didn't matter. We had a mystery to solve. Everyone on the team loved the experiences! We learned a little about SLC while walking around solving clues. For the last clue we went and grabbed lunch and solved the mystery. I can't say much more as I don't want to ruin the surprise. I would highly recommend getting this for team building or just a fun weekend day or night. It's very well planned out out and we would definitely do another Escapely box in the future. Thank you!!!
We had a blast!! It was just the right amount of hard. We loved being outside in the city using real life clues in the city. I will be looking to do these in other cities as well! It really is the perfect way to spend a few hours getting to know a city. Perfect for couples and groups. This was a blast! Best day. Thank you.
We enjoyed how the "who done it" was a mix of real world clues that we had to find in order to further the story. It was great that hints were available when needed, but we got the hang of it after the second location.
My 13 year old daughter and I love escape room experiences, we always try them everywhere we travel to. We googled “Salt Lake City Escape Rooms” and discovered Escapely. Escapely is an amazing way to explore the city you are in, with a fun outdoor scavenger hunt with brain teasers, and clues that enable you to truly experience the city you are in! We enjoyed scootering around SLC on a Sunday as the city was empty of cars, and loved all the different stores, cafes and areas we would have otherwise never seen, or experience. Strangers asked us what we were up to on the street , as they saw how much fun we were having! We cannot wait for Escapely to add more cities to their business, as it was a highlight of our Spring Break, and we cannot wait to enjoy this amazing experience in a new city!
This was one of my favorite activities while visiting SLC. There are so many things to love about it - the puzzles are well-designed and challenging, getting to enjoy the beautiful sights and sounds of downtown SLC, and the flexibility of being able to do it whenever is convenient according to your itinerary. We really enjoyed how the puzzles engaged so well with what we were seeing in the city, and how the puzzles forced us to travel places and notice things we wouldn't have otherwise seen. With unlimited hints and no penalty for using them, it was easy to move on from being stuck on a particularly hard puzzle. This activity does require some moving around downtown, so be prepared to walk a few blocks or rent some scooters while you complete it. Either way, you'll have fun!
Bought this hoping it would be a fun, interactive, and structured way to see downtown SLC for newcomers. This was not that experience. Maybe 1/3 of the clues had you actually interact with the city and you were so focused and using brain power to figure out the puzzle/clues, that it really did take you away from appreciating your surroundings more. I would suggest the creators make changes so that you actually see more of the highlights of the city (e.g. Capitol building, temple, library, etc.) even from a distance and incorporate local businesses more into the storyline. This was more of a headache and we wish we would’ve just walked around leisurely instead as we would have noticed more.
