Loved the snorkeling- picked up on time from hotel- Charlie Brown and frank were most organized crew. All had to attend tequila tasting- not in original plans. Lunch was just ok because tacos were cold and only allowed to stop at “authorized store” on way to lunch. After lunch had to sit there for at least 45 min to an hour before van picked us up.
Charlie Brown was awesome very good tour guide would definitely recommend and would definitely go again tacos were amazing
We went on the snorkel with lunch tour in May. The transportation was on time and after picking up several people we arrived at the location in Port Morelos. The first thing we did was get in line to pay the dock fee of $15 per person. Then we moved to the next kiosk and we were asked to pay for the VIP package. This included a VIP snorkeling experience with smaller group size and 4 tacos at lunch instead of three for $110. We declined. Our group ended up with 13 people and it was fine. The snorkeling was fine and our leader Frank was great. We were not allowed to snorkel on our own but had to follow the guide in a line. We would have enjoyed it more if we could have explored the reef but those are the rules apparently. We were not allowed to bring our phones or anything on the boat. They had someone take pictures and we could buy them at the end for $60. We declined. After the snorkel we were able to shower and change and we were directed to a tequila tasting room. This was never mentioned in the description when we booked the tour. If it had been we would have booked something else because we don't drink and we opted to not attend the tasting. Because we declined they asked us to fill out a form and sign it explaining why we didn't want to go to the tasting. We thought that was kind of weird. Next we had to walk through a gauntlet of shops where people were selling their trinkets and souvenirs. We kept walking to the end of the street where we got in a van and went to the lunch location. The tacos were included but any drinks we had to pay for. The tacos were fried fish or fried chicken and were OK. This tour could have been better with out all the up charges and having to stay in a line for the snorkel The guide were great, nice and friendly and there is nothing negative about them. Be advised there is tequila tasting which is not advertised on this site. Also why can't the tour we bought be a VIP Tour? Why try to upcharge us immediately? If there was a VIP tour option they should advertise it here and not tell us upon arrival and try to rush us into a decision.
Pick up was right on time at our Cancún hotel and as expected multiple other hotel stops to pick up other adventurers. Our guide Carlos was great and clearly explained reef ecology and safety steps. Modern Boat ride to reef was smooth and each participant was given new in the wrapper snorkels. Snorkeling was so-so as we had to cater to “weakest link” in the chain theory. We had multiple young kids on trip and strong currents. Carlos played it safe and towed the kids using a life preserver. We followed a designated reef course that was not very exciting. Water was not very clear - not their fault- but we and 3-4 other tour companies were on same reef. Nothing like the solitude of diving with 30 of your best friends. Tequila tasting after was fun and educational. Bring money y To buy some great tequila if you’re inclined to. The snack after tequila was more like lunch. 3 taco plates served to everyone. THEN we were taken to the town of puerto morales and dropped off to shop at souvenir stores. Could have done without this extra 45 min excursion. Finally, wait for transport back to hotel was another 40 min. Overall a good experience and would recommend for families and beginners
Started a little sketchy when we were asked to shower per national park rules. But was ok. Guides were great. Equipment was ok. The boat was fine. Only complaint was the restaurant they took us too was terrible. Deep fried chicken tenders or fish tacos and both were horrible. Really they just walk you there to sell photo package from tour. There was tequila tasting when we returned to outfitter. I would have rather spent that time exploring the town and shops.
The snorkeling was great. We saw a huge manta ray, several barracudas and many, many colorful fish. Our guide Jaz was wonderful. The tequila tasting was informative. The transportation was punctual and pleasant. The lunch was mediocre. We had little time to explore the town of Puerto Moreles. I would have prefered doing more snorkeling and skip the short visit in Puerto Moreles.
We had a fantastic snorkeling tour at the Puerto Morelos Reef today, and Fran was an excellent guide! He was very helpful and knowledgeable about the reef, pointing out vibrant corals, colorful fish, and even sea turtles. Fran made sure our group had a great time, keeping everything safe, fun, and well-paced for everyone—from beginners to pros. What impressed us most was his passion for reef protection. He shared eco-friendly tips, like avoiding contact with marine life, showing he truly cares about preserving this beautiful spot. Highly recommend Fran for an unforgettable experience!
Had lots of fun, amazing experience Francisco, Carlos, and Kevin made it even better. Got to see lots of fish, turtles, the reef.
This was overall a great experience. Our family of four, with two children 10 and 13, had never been snorkeling before and had a blast. We saw the reef, many fish and huge turtles! The tour guides were informative and led the group through the reef and we felt that we had a lot of time in the water for first timers. Note: I have done catamaran snorkeling where you jump in and kind of look around, this is a full guided tour in the water so be prepared to swim a fair amount. Our kids are avid and strong swimmers, but this looked tough for a couple people in our group that were not the strongest swimmers, as it does require the physicality and dexterity to stay horizontal, keep your head in the water and propel yourself forward, following the person in front of you. One thing to warn is that they make you shower in your swim wear prior to taking you to the boat, to ensure that you do not have chemicals or sunscreen on the skin. Being pretty pale, we wore shirts to protect our shoulders etc, but as we are in the water horizontal a lot, all of the backs of our legs were pretty burnt, so I would recommend some leggings that are easy to swim in if this is a concern. They also will not allow you to bring anything on the boat, inclusive of towels, water bottles and to our disappointment, our underwater camera. They did take pictures and charge about $80 USD for them, but they were not the quality we had hoped for and unfortunately they missed our son in all underwater photos. The one thing that I felt should have been noted when booking, is that after the boating, they bring you back to change and get belongings before lunch, and get you to sit through a long seminar on tequila, offer tastings of a variety of kinds and then try to sell you on them. As a non drinker, this was a significant waste of my time, and my children were damp, uncomfortable and extremely bored throughout the process. I felt that there should be the option for people not interested to go explore the shops outside or the beach before meeting at the lunch location. This would have been especially nice as we had wanted to get pictures at the pier and some signage near the beach, which we walked by on the way to the boats, but since we were not allowed to bring our phones, we couldn’t get pictures there at all. Right after the tequila tasting, they take you on a brisk walk to lunch, bypassing all the little shops, so if you want to do any shopping or sightseeing of the area, you may want to consider booking something that gives you that freedom. The lunch location is on the beach and offers delicious tacos (chicken, fish or vegetarian), however there are absolutely no drinks included, so be prepared to purchase some there as they also will not let you drink from things you already have.
Hello Kevin, Thank you for sharing your detailed feedback. We’re thrilled to hear that your family enjoyed the snorkeling experience! We’re glad our guides provided guidance and that first-time snorkelers felt supported. We appreciate your comments, these measures are in place to ensure the safety of our customers. We also note your feedback on the photography and understand it may not have met your expectations; we will continue working to improve this service. Regarding the tequila tasting and lunch, we understand that as non-drinkers this part of the tour may have felt less relevant. The tasting is optional, although phones and personal items are not allowed during activities for safety reasons. Drinks are available for purchase at lunch as noted in the tour description. We appreciate your constructive feedback, as it helps us improve the experience for future guests, and we hope you’ll consider joining us again for another adventure!
Everything is about money. Tour says 5 hours but in reality you are snorkeling for only an hour, the rest is about them selling you tequila and taking you to souvenir shops. You feel like youre in prison they have to go with you everywhere and cannot wonder to shop at your own leisure. This is totally a scam. They won't let you take your phone for photos. They say is not allowed, but everyone else in other tours will say is totally allowed, yet they do that so you would buy their photos which are fake. What you see in the photos is not what your eyes see.
Hello Lissette, Thank you so much for taking the time to share your feedback. We’d like to clarify a few points regarding your experience. The snorkeling portion lasts approximately 40–45 minutes, as indicated in the tour description. Following this, our guides lead guests through the tequila tasting, explaining the production process and how to identify authentic tequila. Prices are only mentioned at the end for those who wish to purchase, and this is entirely optional. Afterward, guests enjoy a snack at the restaurant and have some free time, with clear instructions on when to return for drop-off. Regarding cameras, the Government of Puerto Morelos requires permits for any electronic devices in the reef to prevent potential damage to the coral. For this reason, personal cameras and phones are not allowed while snorkeling. We truly appreciate your understanding and hope this helps clarify the structure of the tour.
