The whole experience was nerve wrecking however I do think it’s an experience everyone should experience. The guide was very knowledge and I felt safe
I can do it again If fear had a face, it was definitely mine standing at the edge before the jump But thanks to the incredible team at Abseil Victoria Falls, I went from “I can’t do this!” to “Can I go again?” in minutes! The staff were hilarious, professional, and somehow managed to convince me that going down the cliff attached to a rope was a great life decision. Safety was top-notch, the equipment was excellent, and the views were so beautiful they almost distracted me from screaming on the way down Huge respect to the guides for keeping the vibes fun and calming all at once. If you’re in Victoria Falls and want an adventure you’ll laugh about forever, this is the place to go. Highly recommended!
To start, we believe honesty is the best policy (for better or worse), especially with travel reviews. We are from Canada/United States, and we’ve traveled to 50+ countries and seven continents. We are middle class, though still have high expectations when we are spending significant money on international travel. I used to guide whitewater rafting and hunting in Montana, USA. I understand the pressure it takes to excel as a guide for tourists that pay significant amounts to travel. We read reviews online and chose Abseil Victoria Falls. The guides did an incredible job during the experience. The Manager arrived at the hotel on time for pickup. They were friendly, fun, and polite. They efficiently drove us to their office for payment and signatures. We had a great safety briefing. The Manager is a very nice guy that does an incredible job. He really made the experience special. He is a family man with a few kiddos, and you can tell he cares about being an excellent dad. The guides that help you Abseil were incredible. They give you an excellent safety briefing upon arrival at the point. The views overlooking Victoria Falls were incredible. I mean you literally stand over a rock cliff overlooking the falls. We chose the experience where you go all the way to the bottom of the river and hike out. Yes, you get wet. Yes, you laugh and enjoy it. Yes, you need to have an adventurous mind to do the full abseil to the river bottom and hike out. The guides at the top really help relax you before dropping off the cliffs. My wife and I both were relaxed because of their safety and experience. They made us laugh because dropping 130 meters over the cliff. The hike out was safe, but if you are older or scared of walking on rocks, I’d just do the 80-meter experience where you drop down, and a machine pulls you back up. Our departure from the area was on time and was the manager that picked us up. We did have a delay in our departure from the area in the van because of an elephant standing in the road, unwilling to move! The manager was very focused on safety and not irritating the elephant. As a result, he picked up his phone and called the park rangers to come and scare the elephant away. Within five minutes, several members from the local military and park rangers arrived to scare the elephant away so we could complete our journey to our hotel. It was hilarious! Great team, great company, great experience. We can’t recommend them enough! Best, Michael W. and Jules A., +1-406-600-4054
BE CAREFUL-NOT RECOMMENDED FOR PEOPLE INEXPERIENCED IN REPELLING/ABSEILLING ⚠️ Safety Issue - beware ⚠️ The rig for abseiling was not properly threaded and I was unable to adequately slow my descent. My right hand glove nearly burned through. At the bottom the guide looked at my rig and said, yes it wasn’t done correctly. Fortunately there was a backup safety line and someone from the top was able to slow my decent. So, not ultimately a bad outcome, but I would never go back, nor would I recommend it to my friends or loved ones. I immediately engage the company and they have spoken to me and claim to be carrying out some sort of safety review, but it has been several days and I have not seen anything that changes my feeling about the lax safety standards I observed. I do genuinely believe that they care about safety and the owners are concerned about my issue, but that doesn’t change my experience or my point of view. BE CAREFUL-NOT RECOMMENDED FOR PEOPLE INEXPERIENCED IN REPELLING/Abseilling.
I did the full 110 meter abseiling which can only be done during low water. I have rappelled many years ago but it was much shorter. The hike and stairs out of the canyon would be very challenging for anyone who is not in robust physical condition. This was not briefed to me and I did not read this information anywhere. I did it just fine but there are I think 386 steps, many of them extremely steep up and down to make your way back to the top near the bridge. Other areas have roughly constructed “steps” which could be bad if any missteps. Duncan was my guide. He was excellent!
I did the basic abseil package and hiked back up from the bottom with the guide. As a rock climber myself, I take safety very seriously, and all of their set up anchors and safety practices were excellent. It was very enjoyable and the views are excellent. We hiked back under the bridge and got to see some of the rapids and bungee jumpers. Lunch is included and although they call it a “small lunch” it was actually a nice full lunch, from a limited menu. All told it is a fun adventure and a good value.
Great experience. James was fantastic arranging this experience and combining it with others. Provided top notch customer service and safety. I also did the bungee jump and jetboat. The abseil was actually more fun than the bungee bc you have more time to appreciate where you are as you descend. I recommend abseiling down then doing the jetboat which was the best boating experience ever.
So amazing it is scary but the view below is incredible Few tourists dare to try but they should because it is safe and the guys who work here are so cool
Great experience , especially at the low season where the water level is low and you will get a chance to hike beneath the falls
The experience was exceptional, but the team's business practices left a sour taste. They lacked transparency regarding package prices, omitting crucial information about extra fees for photos and videos. Despite paying the initial package price, we were forced to pay additional costs to access our media. It's evident that profit took precedence over customer satisfaction.
Thank you very much for your review, we are delighted that you found the experience exceptional. We have taken note of the miscommunication with regards to media packages. Our staff are pretty sure they did communicate that the $20 package is for photos only yet you also wanted your video. As advised to you on whats app we have since emailed you your video footage as complimentary as we are not sure where the breakdown in communication was, we hope you enjoy your footage. Just for clarification our media packages are as follows: $20 for photos only for both Abseiling & Ultimate Falls Experience $35 for Photos and videos for Abseiling $50 for Photos and videos for Ultimate Falls Experience. Thanks for your review we value this to help us continue to improve our customer care and overall experience.
