Wonderful snorkeling experience

Once in a life time experience!! We had some wind and the boast ride was a bit rocky bit it didn’t impact our activities. We were able to do 10 min helicopter ride, eat nice lunch, ride 20 min submarine ride and snorkeled for about an hour without feeling rushed. So glad that we went with this tour.

Thank you for your great feedback. We’re delighted to hear you had such a memorable day and were able to enjoy all the activities, including the helicopter flight, submarine experience, snorkelling, and lunch. Even with slightly windy conditions, it’s wonderful to know the experience wasn’t impacted and you’re glad you chose the tour.

Very poor experience

Not good. I know you can’t predict the weather, but surely, when it’s that bad- you shouldn’t allow this trip to go ahead. The journey to outer reef took 1 hr 20 mins of atrocious weather conditions resulting in more than half the customers vomiting! I know people can get sea sick, but that was ridiculous! I think ‘selling’ anti sickness tablets on the boat is wrong (these should be free!): horrendous journey! When we got to the pontoon, the weather contains continued… I certainly didn’t feel safe to snorkel! Some people went in… but the current was extremely strong. We had booked a helicopter ride… and to explain the bad weather to you… the helicopter ride was cancelled! That’s how bad it was. Lunch was really nice - however this was spoiled by people stripping off out of their ‘Lycra’ suit and drying themselves whilst I was eating lunch! One man was drying his genital area in front of me whilst eating my lunch. PLEASE! As a company- you should ensure people can eat without this display of personal hygiene when eating g food! There were changing rooms away from ‘eating area’ so this should be enforced. It was quite off putting eating my lunch. I went on the ‘semi sub’ which was a sort of a boat with glass windows underneath the surface to sea the coral - couldn’t see anything - the water was churned up by the weather - it rocked that much that people were throwing up in there to! Terrible experience: so, no snorkelling, no helicopter ride, no visualising coral, people stripping off and drying themselves whilst eating lunch (including their private parts) - it’s a no from me…. I did speak to two of the quicksilver staff and got a poor response…. Ie ‘sorry about that’ and ‘people do suffer with sea sickness’ - yes, but not to the extent I seen! Staff were running back and forth with vomit bags!!! I have had a partial refund from the cancelled helicopter ride - but the whole trip should have been cancelled!

Thank you for sharing your feedback. We’re sorry to hear that the conditions on the day impacted your experience. Operating on the Great Barrier Reef means conditions can vary, and while the seas were certainly challenging, all operations proceeded within strict safety guidelines. If we were to cancel all days with rough weather, we would unfortunately be unable to operate for extended periods each year. That said, we completely understand that rough seas can make for an uncomfortable journey, particularly for those prone to seasickness. In Australia, seasickness tablets are regulated as Pharmacy Medicines (Schedule 2), so they must be supplied in accordance with licensing requirements and cannot be provided complimentary. We do always recommend guests take preventative measures prior to travel. Regarding onboard behavior, while we expect guests to be considerate of others, it is also the nature of a snorkeling and diving day that guests will be changing throughout the trip. We do provide designated changing areas and encourage their use wherever possible. Helicopter flights operate under stricter weather limitations, which is why this component may be cancelled even when marine activities can continue. We’re pleased this portion of your booking was refunded. We appreciate your feedback and will continue working with our team to ensure the best possible experience for our guests, even in more challenging conditions.
