Quad/Buggy Safari de Platanias de Chania

A great way to see the beach and countryside away from the hustle bustle of Chania. Adrian our tour guide picked me up and returned me to cruise terminal on time and a great delight! Once we picked up everyone else, he gave us a safety briefing and off we went. Beautiful countryside up into the hills of the island close to Platonias (spelling?)....great fun and he was very safe! Diverse group - family with small children and adults! So much fun ! I highly recommend this tour!

We really enjoyed this activity! The views were fantastic, the staff was safe, and the entire outing was well-timed. A great way to get a bit adventurous in Crete.

Both guides are super nice guys! pick up/drop off service was top notch, nothing to criticize. For me personally I would have preferred to drive a little more off-road but they have made a route so that it is something for everyone. Nice excursion with beautiful views so definitely enjoyed it! Tip: put on old clothes because there is a lot of dust/sand involved when you go off-road.

Really enjoyed the excursion. Adrian did an excellent job. Yes, you do lots of paved roads but they are nice country roads up the mountain and back down and you avoid the dust. Insurance options are listed on Viator so it shouldn’t be a surprise. Unless you are planning on going nuts behind the wheel, insurance should not be needed. Great tour, we would do it again.

Pricing demands clarifying. You cant add extra fees afterwards. While making the payment its clearly shown pick up is included. After payment you receive a confirmation where pick up fees are shown. Also these weird insurance fees are very confusing. As an organizer you need to insure your vehicles. This speech, which most of us didnt even understand, is not legally binding. Dont make this payment. Ride was mainly on paved roads among cars. On our way back we rode 50km/h with cars. My quad's handlebar was shaking hard. My guess is tyre alingment or loose attachment. Adrian was laid back chill norwegian. No complaints there. Off road riding was only around 30 min. Disappointing, it was supposed to be a off road safari. Price and delivery dont match. Ok afternoon in general if you like driving quads. Helmets were dirty, clearly no- one wipes them clean after every ride. same with quad's seats. Dirty. Little things, but those give company quality, especially when customers are paying quite a lot.

Adrian was very laid back guide. Few strange points: after you have paid the total fee, you receive confirmation saying you need to pay extra for pick up. Pick up was clearly included the booking, so this felt a bit like a scam. Hopefully this will be changed and the sum is clear from the beginning. Insurance payments- I didnt take any. It was very weird, no written documents, just verbally and most of the participants didnt even understand the whole topic. Most of the time we drove paved roads. Just little bit off road, which was disappointing. I was waiting for that for obvious reasons. In the middle of ride, we had a break. A bottle of water and some pics. Too long for me, I wanted to ride. Filling tanks afterwards at the gas station and driving around with normal speedy traffic wasnt on my mind, when I booked "quad safari". For the future, please make some corrections. Transparent payments, insurace topic and change the route to go faster up to the mountains.

We were picked up in a dirty van, picked up two other parties, and then taken to what appeared to be a private residence. The opportunity for insurance was presented ($25 or 40 Euros). He then asked each party quietly which insurance they selected, then told us the charge for the pick-up. I overheard what one party was charged ($10 E each) and we were charged more ($35 E each, totaling $70). This seemed ... odd. Then off on our drive.... the scenery was NOT awesome. Beach time was maybe 10 minutes, then through neighborhoods, then up in the mountains. We stopped maybe 1/2 way and we each were given a bottle of water and a cookie. We had to stop to gas up all the quads in town, then progressed through on some roads that seemed like major, busy roads. Driver was on his cell thru most of the tour, with ear buds. No history relayed, no culture. I don't recommend this tour, especially not for what came to about $300 USD.

Great tour of countryside of Crete. Laid back and fun driving quads on roads and paths. Note to self you will get dusty, comes with territory of the region. Offered only warm water at one rest stop, wished for cold beverage. Guide was friendly and polite.
