We had a great experience with Mr. Winston as our driver. He was an extremely safe driver which made the experience so much better going up and down the narrow roads thru the mountains. He was very warm, open, helpful and kind and we appreciated having our tour with him. The tour at 9 mile was a quick one mostly to see the location of Bob Marley’s birth and resting place as our tour guide didn’t give the best tour in all honestly but it was still a great adventure thanks to Winston’s safe driving through the countryside. I would not suggest this particular tour if you aren’t a true Bob Marley fan but would most definitely suggest requesting Mr. Winston as your driver.

The most meaningful day of my trip — and one I'll never forget I traveled solo to Jamaica and was a little unsure what to expect booking this tour on my own. What I got was one of the most profoundly moving experiences of my life. From the winding mountain roads of St. Ann to the sacred ground of Nine Mile, this day exceeded every expectation. Mr. Winston made me feel completely at ease from the start. As a solo traveler, having a guide with his combination of deep knowledge, genuine warmth, and easy humor made all the difference. He never made the experience feel transactional — it felt personal, like being guided through something sacred by someone who truly loves what he does and where he comes from. Standing in the humble home where Bob Marley was born, taking in the family photos, walking the same ground he walked as a boy — I had to pause more than once just to take it all in. And the mausoleum dedicated to his mother stopped me in my tracks. It is a stunning tribute that speaks directly to the central, irreplaceable role she played in the Marley family. Seeing where she, his youngest brother, his grandparents, and other family members rest — surrounded by those hills and that quiet — was almost spiritual. If you are traveling to Jamaica alone and wondering whether to make the journey up those winding mountain roads — go. Mr. Winston will take care of you. This is not just a tour. It is a pilgrimage.

We were cruising on Carnival Horizon to Ocho Rios and decided to book this excursion very last minute, as in 8 hours before we arrived in port. We honestly thought we’d leave later at the least since we booked so late but to our surprise, Winston was calling us while we were still eating breakfast asking where we were! He gave us very specific and clear instructions on where to meet him and said he would be holding a sign with my name at the location he gave. He was very easy to find! He pulled up the van and we loaded up. This is a private tour so it was just our family! Winston’s driving skills through the Jamaican countryside were superb and his commentary very interesting. Once at the home of Bob Marley, he handed us over to Curtis, aka “Crazy”. Curtis presented the best and funniest tour we have ever been on anywhere. Once the tour was over, Winston was there ready and waiting to show off those driving skills back to Ocho Rios. We loaded up and away we went. Since we had some spare time, the teenagers wanted to eat authentic jerk chicken. Winston knew just the spot. He took us to Scotchie’s. The chicken was amazing and the coolest part was getting to watch it being made from start to finish. We were back on the ship with an hour to spare and it definitely could have been sooner if we were ready to leave port at 7am when Winston was. Lol. Even the teenagers agree this was the best part of our whole vacation. Winston and Curtis went above and beyond our expectations. We hope to cross paths with him again on our next Jamaican vacay!

The roads can be a lot if you’re not familiar with Jamaica, so having a careful and friendly driver really made the trip stress-free and enjoyable. The guides were knowledgeable, welcoming, and kept the tour fun from start to finish. Overall, it was a beautiful experience and definitely one of the highlights of our trip. 10/10!
