Me and my wife had the pleasure of Experiencing Nagasaki japan with (EXPLORE KYUSHU TOURS).We chose the fullday tour and the process was a breeze. We had clear instuctions on where to meet and what to expect of the tour.Once we arrived at the meeting location we were warmly greeted by our tour guide (PENE) and felt instantly welcomed. Each location we visited was truely an amazing experience with stunning views but thats not impressed me the most. What impressed me the most was pene’s knowledge about the history of Japan and how he was able to articulate himself and deliver it to us as if we were living in that time of age.Truely an amazing experience.I believe this is what sets (PENE AND EXPLORE KYUSHU TOURS) apart from any tour i have been on.This tour had highly exceeded any expections that i had and will definately be booking in again when visiting Japan.Highly recommended⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️🇯🇵🇯🇵🇯🇵🇯🇵🇯🇵
It was an absolute pleasure to guide you and your wife around Nagasaki, Sam. Thank you for choosing to take a tour with us at Explore Kyushu Tours. Your patronage and your review means a lot to us. I hope the rest of your visit to this part of the world goes well, and I look forward to hopefully seeing you all again, sometime soon. Kindest regards, Pene
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (10/10) If I could give Pene Dalton more than 5 stars, I absolutely would. Travelling from New Zealand, I thought we had a reasonable understanding of Japan’s history especially being of Polynesian descent ourselves and so similar in tradition. What we quickly realised was that so much of what we had been taught only scratched the surface. Pene gave us something far more valuable than a sightseeing tour he gave us perspective. Our tour through Nagasaki on 4 August 2026 was one of the most meaningful experiences of our entire trip. His depth of knowledge was extraordinary, taking us through centuries of history that shaped not only Nagasaki but Japan itself. From the arrival of foreign traders and settlers, to the city’s remarkable architectural evolution, wartime history, rebuilding, and the resilience of its people, every location came alive with stories that simply cannot be found by reading guidebooks. What stood out most was how Pene connected the past to the present. He explained how Nagasaki’s infrastructure, culture, traditions, and values have been preserved while continuing to influence modern Japan. It gave us an entirely new appreciation for the strength, identity, and spirit of the Japanese people. Pene’s passion is infectious. He doesn’t just recite dates and facts he tells the stories behind them. He shares local knowledge, historical context, and personal insights that transform every stop into something unforgettable. You leave with a genuine understanding of why Nagasaki is one of the most historically significant cities in the world. This wasn’t just a tour; it was an education, an eye-opening experience, and a privilege. It challenged my thinking, broadened my understanding, and gave me and my husband memories we will carry for the rest of our lives. To anyone visiting Nagasaki, do yourself a favour and book with Pene Dalton. He is worth every single penny and honestly, far more. His knowledge, professionalism, warmth, and passion are second to none. Thank you, Pene, for sharing your city, your history, and your heart with us. We arrived as tourists, but we left with a far deeper respect for Nagasaki, Japan, and the incredible journey that shaped it into what it is today. From all of us in New Zealand thank you. We cannot recommend you highly enough.
Thank you so so much for your sudden booking and this amazing review! I thoroughly enjoyed having you and taking you around Nagasaki was an absolute pleasure. I hope to see you all again sometime soon in this part of the world. Warmest regards Pene
Our daytime tour with Pene was nothing short of incredible. After spending the day with him, we can honestly say he was our favorite part of visiting Nagasaki. We've traveled to many places and taken countless tours, but Pene stands in a league of his own. From the very beginning, it was obvious that he genuinely cared about making sure our family had the best experience possible. The summer heat in Nagasaki was intense, but Pene was always one step ahead. He constantly offered us cold water, made sure we stood in the shade whenever he was explaining something outdoors, and even handed each of us cooling body wipes. We honestly laughed at first, thinking we wouldn't need them, but by the end of the day, they had become an absolute lifesaver! We ended up buying more and used them throughout the rest of our trip, thanks to his recommendation. When one member of our family started feeling the effects of the heat, Pene immediately offered to drive them back to the hotel before continuing the tour. We chose to keep going because we didn't want to miss a minute with him, but the fact that his first instinct was to make sure everyone was okay speaks volumes about the kind of person he is. Throughout the rest of the day, he continued checking in to make sure they were feeling better. That level of kindness and genuine concern is something you simply can't teach. Beyond his incredible hospitality, Pene is an exceptional guide. He introduced us to fantastic local restaurants where we were able to immerse ourselves in the culture instead of just eating at tourist spots. He showed us beautiful viewpoints and historic locations while sharing the stories behind them, making every stop feel meaningful. Our family loves learning the history and culture of the places we visit, and Pene brought Nagasaki to life in a way that no guidebook ever could. His knowledge is remarkable, and he answered every one of our niche questions with thoughtful, detailed explanations. What made the day even more enjoyable was his personality. Pene is genuinely funny, warm, and engaging. He had us laughing throughout the tour while seamlessly weaving history, local culture, and personal stories into every conversation. The hours flew by because we were having so much fun. Even though we ran past the scheduled tour time, Pene never once made us feel rushed. Instead, he happily made sure we completed everything on our itinerary and wanted us to experience as much of Nagasaki as possible. He went above and beyond in every way imaginable, finishing the day by treating us to a delicious sweet treat, a thoughtful gesture that perfectly reflected his generosity and hospitality. Pene didn't just show us Nagasaki, he welcomed us into it. He anticipated our needs before we even realized we had them, treated us like family, and made every moment feel special. His kindness, humor, professionalism, and incredible knowledge created one of the best travel experiences our family has ever had. If you're visiting Nagasaki, do yourself a favor and book a tour with Pene. He is truly one of a kind, and we will be talking about this experience for years to come.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for such an incredibly generous review. When I started Explore Kyushu Tours, my hope was simply that visitors would leave understanding that Nagasaki is so much more than a city remembered for one tragic day. It is a city full of history, culture, resilience, and wonderful people. Reading your words makes me feel that I achieved exactly what I set out to do. What makes this even more special is the connection we shared throughout the day. It never felt like I was guiding clients. It felt like I was showing friends around my hometown. Thank you for your endless questions, your laughter, your enthusiasm, and for embracing every part of the experience. Those conversations are what make every tour unique, and they are the reason I love doing what I do. I already miss you all, and I sincerely hope that one day you come back to Japan so I can show you an entirely different side of Nagasaki. Until then, thank you for allowing me to become a small part of your family’s journey. I will never forget our time together. Warmest regards, Pene
Our guide, Pene, was excellent. He was very entertaining and informative. We learned a great deal about Japanese history and culture from him. This well-organised tour is highly recommended to all English-speaking visitors.

Pene Dalton and his beautiful wife Kyoko from Explore Kyushu Tours gave us the most wonderful (all be it wet) day of exploring Nagasaki. Having an English speaking (Kiwi) guide was a bonus. His knowledge of the history and story’s of Nagasaki was wonderful. Everything was well thought out and delivered beautifully. The visit to the atomic bomb site and museum was a real eyeopener. The whole day was fun and very entertaining. 100% contact Pene and Kyoko when in Nagasaki.
Tracy, It was such a privilege to guide our cousins from across the ditch, around this special corner of the world. I cannot thank you enough for patience on what was hands down, the wettest day I have ever taken friends from abroad, around Nagasaki. You all were so gracious and patient with that. It’s my one regret that the weather had other plans for us all. Thank you so much for choosing our tour and for this wonderful review. If you ever come back to this part of the world. please send us a message. Would love to see you all again. I hope the rest of your cruise went well. Warmest regards from Kyoko and myself.

Thank you so much for your review. It was a pleasure to guide you all around, I had a wonderful time with you all. So glad our paths crossed. Warmest regards Pene
