I would highly recommend booking this private tour with ecoexperience. They are very flexible with where to pick you up and drop you off which was important to me. Our tour guide was very accommodating and fun to be around. The pablo escobar mansion tour is 10/10. The most fun we’ve ever had. We rode ATVs, dabbled in some paintball, took pictures on their beautiful horses, and we decided to pay a bit extra for 30 minutes on jet skis. The history of the property is also quite intriguing. The guide took us to a beautiful restaurant on the water called ATMA. The food was sooooo good. The food is not included in the tour so bring money for that. We went to see el peñol but decided not to climb it because we were already tired. There was still a walking tour of Guatape but by that time it was the evening and we wanted to rest! All in all you get a lot of bang for your buck.

We had an amazing day with Felipe, highly recommend!! Felipe was an excellent and knowledgeable guide. And showed us sits and food we would never have tried or noticed. Best day in Medellín so far

Worth every penny! So lucky to have gotten Santiago as a guide he was incredible, everything we needed and had questions about he was there with the knowledge and overall made the experience so much better! The tour itself is really well planned, Guatape to start, a climb of the big rock and then a tour of the town. The boat ride to La Manuela was amazing and our driver was great. From there La Manuela was so interesting. Our guide around the property was Filip who was amazing at his job and so knowledgeable! The ATV rides and then paintballing were great fun. Honestly couldn't complain about a single thing, was skeptical about the price but would book this again and again without a doubt. A must do tour!

He is fluent in English and Spanish, which is a big plus for me/us as my wife Claudia speaks Spanish only. Alejandro has traveled throughout Europe, Central and South America giving him well versed international knowledge and experiece. He is a great communicator with excellent listening and rapport building skills via his pleasant, humble, assertive, and positive personality expressing care and extensive knowledge of his chosen craft as a tour guide and travel advisor. From 8 a.m. through 8 p.m. Alejandro maintained his positive energy and close engagement to our tour delivering sound information and lively conversations; time went by fast! We have already booked Alejandro for our next private tour. Viator is blessed to have Alejandro in their team of professional tour guides!

Wear breathable, comfortable clothing and remember to bring pesos for items at the locations since some stops don’t take dollar or may not have change. The host was amazing, courteous, knowledgeable and accommodating. The views are amazing and it really is an all day thing. The piedra is a feat but it really is satisfying to complete. The vehicle used for the tour is spacious and clean and you get to play any music you would like. I would recommend this to all the adventurers out there.

What an experience! This excursion is so much more than it first appears. We were very lucky to have Santiago as our guide. He dropped us a message the day before to confirm arrangements and from the get go was the absolute best person for us. From the moment we got into the car the experience began- Santiago gave full social and cultural history of everywhere we went and social commentary on all the things we asked about. Our first stop was at the wild el al todel chocho. Free roaming llamas and goats, performing Colombian horses and the opportunity to bottle feed koi carp (!!) We then moved on to Piedra del Penol - a 200m granite monolith. Santiago explained the history of the rock and that the views of the lake and generally from the top, were spectacular. Sensibly he didn’t make the climb- it is 708 step straight upwards! That said, there are plenty of stopping places and most people stop several times on the way up. Santiago was right, the views from the top are incredible and until that point, you have no idea just how huge the lake is. From there we went on to the town of Guatape- which is beautiful and has so much history. Santiago explained the history of the town, the importance of the reliefs and of the street of memory- he was the perfect guide, knowledgable and funny. After a lovely lunch at the side of the lake, Santiago handed us over to Fernando and said he would meet us at Hacienda Manuela. Fernando took us on his boat for a tour of some of the vast lake. He pointed out famous footballer holiday homes and took us to the huge cross erected as a memorial to the sunken town. After a good 45 mins of touring the lake, Fernando took us to Hacienda Manuela. We were met by our guide who took us round the 3 buildings, giving great detail of what they were and how they would have looked. While the main house is quite derelict as a result of the bombing, the guest house, security tower and bar/disco are in reasonable condition-all things considered. The stables have been renovated and, as of the previous day, now hold horses! The plan is to offer horseback riding around the site- which is a great idea and will be brilliant! After a tour of the site we headed to paintballing. As a family of 3 we were unsure about full on warfare so the guy set us up with guns and a free rein at the targets in the arena- which was perfect! He also had us pose around the arena for some ace photos! We headed back up the hill and there was Santiago waiting for us as promised. We embarked on the long journey back to the hotel (about 2 hours- traffic at that time is crazy!). Santiago had ace tunes, great conversation and continued with interesting info making the journey the perfect end to the most amazing day. If you only do one excursion, I highly recommend this one, it is so much more than 90 mins at Hacienda Manuela, it’s a full on immersion into Colombia. If you’re really lucky, you’ll get Santiago as your guide.
