Exciting trip to DMZ

He gave us a unique experience with his great knowledge of Vietnam’s history. He told patiently and answered all our questions. Our best guide on the tour around Vietnam, where we have met many skilled guides. He should have had 7 stars if possible. Thanks for a super enriching trip.

Way above expectation!

This trip was a fantastic experience. The guide, Linh, had so much information to give and spoke excellent English. There were many more things to see than we expected and she gave us time on our own to explore them. The only regret was not taking the full day tour!

Outstanding half day visit to the DMZ

Whilst staying in Hue we arranged a half day sightseeing tour of the Demilitarised Zone with DMZ Tours/Connect Travel. We had read reviews which spoke of their excellent guides and which suggested asking for either Hoa or Mr Loc. The arrangements were made via WhatsApp and our car was waiting for us the following day, on time, at 10am. Our guide for the day was Hoa and what a pleasure it turned out to be. We left Hue for the two hour drive to the first stop on the tour at the Quang Tri Citadel, the journey flew by as Hoa talked to us about the history of Vietnam, the stories behind the war and the importance of the Demilitarised zone. We used a number of guides during our stay in Vietnam and often struggled to understand everything we were being told due to limited English but Hoa’s English was excellent, her knowledge of her subjects outstanding and her presentation was stimulating. We learnt so much. After visiting the Citadel we moved on to the DMZ and the Hien Luong Bridge which was fascinating and then to the Vinh Moc Tunnels. We had chosen to visit these tunnels as opposed to the more famous ones near Ho Chi Minh City as we are both tall and these are much more accessible. We must have spent well over an hour in the tunnels with detailed explanations of how people lived and survived in them, a real experience. After leaving the tunnels we set off on the journey back and had another hour of information about the post war period, how modern day Vietnam has emerged and about Hoa’s family and what she experienced growing up. During the final hour of the journey we listened to Vietnamese music and music from the Vietnam war era. Have to say that it was a most incredible experience thanks to our outstanding guide, we may have only visited three sites but came away with so much knowledge about the Vietnam war. Our private half day tour lasted just short of 8 hours. Outstanding value for money. Thank you.

Interesting DMZ Tour

We had a very busy itinerary and had a second tour booked in the early afternoon. Changing to a private tour allowed us to leave a little early and ensure we arrived back at the Hotel in time for the second tour. The main activities were really the Hien Luong Bridge of DMZ and the Vinh Moc Tunnels. The tunnels are much bigger and served a different purpose than the Cu Chi tunnels near HCMC. Our guide was Thuan was very helpful.

Impressive history lesson

If you want to know more about the history and see the events from a different perspective, this tour is definitely recommended! This is due to the locations visited in combination with the guide Mr Tan who explains the events from his own experiences.

Informative enjoyable experience

We did a half day tour with a wonderful guide Linh. Linh is an intelligent, knowledgeable young woman who provided us with a very informative tour of the battle grounds of the ancient citadel, the demarcation zone and the Vin Moc tunnels. Linh provided us with a true insight into the experiences of the Vietnam people and the history they have experienced. Our driver was very competent and helpful too.

Brilliant historical immersion

Hoa our guide picked us up at 9am from the hotel and then as we drove to 3 of the stops along the way she gave us an amazing insight into geopolitics from a Vietnamese perspective through the Indochina wars. Truly truly fascinating. We learnt so much and were able to fill the gaps in the knowledge we already had. We stopped in the middle of the DMZ but the highlight was the last stop at the Vinh Moc tunnels which Hoa took us deep into. Remarkable. We then returned to Hue for 3pm and over the 2 hr return Hoa played music from the war era. Highly recommend!!!
