O regime comunista deixou uma marca poderosa em todo o bloco oriental, apesar de um dos últimos ditadores da Europa, Nicolae Ceausescu, ter sido retirado do poder há mais de 30 anos. Em seguida, você visitará a atração turística mais famosa de Bucareste, o Palácio do Parlamento. Originalmente chamado de "Casa da República", foi um dos projetos mais espetaculares realizados sob o domínio de Ceausescu. Foi construído entre 1984 e 1997 e detém o recorde mundial do Guinness para o maior edifício administrativo do mundo, medindo 240 metros de comprimento, 270 de largura e 84 de altura. O edifício também é conhecido como a Casa do Povo.
O marco final do seu passeio é a casa do casal Ceausescu, o Palácio Residencial Ceausescu (Palácio da Primavera). Essa propriedade luxuosa foi construída entre 1964 e 1965 e recebeu Elena e Nicolae Ceausescu de 1965 até a morte em 1989. Após a queda do regime comunista, o Palácio da Primavera foi usado como residência VIP para delegações oficiais e presidentes estrangeiros, e em 2016 tornou-se um museu. This was a great way to see some of the big tourist sites in Bucharest without worrying about transportation. Our guide Mihae did a great job of telling us about the rise and fall of communism in Romania. He got us to our tours of Ceausescu Residence and the Parliament Building on time and was waiting for us at the end of each tour. Afterwards, he took us on a walking tour of the historic center and we were able to pop into several of the monasteries to have a look around. We really enjoyed our day with Mihae- he's knowledgeable and just a really nice guy.

If you want to get out of your hotel room in Bucharest and are also interested in history/politics - this is a GREAT tour. Romania has a fascinating history. Our guide, Marcel, was an absolutely a wonderful guide to us for the day! He was so polite and full of history/commentary about Romania itself! Was able to see different areas of the city I wouldn’t have seen otherwise. We also were able to see/ride the subway with a local who knew the ropes. I normally don’t ventured into underground Metros that I am not familiar with, but he made us feel safe so all in all it was neat to be able to say I had the experience here in Bucharest. I was a bit under the weather by nightfall and he was kind enough to bring me to the local market as well as the pharmacy. Translating for us for various things helped tremendously! We really enjoyed the restaurant he brought us too. Great food with a pleasant ambiance/pretty view!
My Husband and I had a wonderful day and extremely interesting private tour with Mikaela. She was very knowledgeable about the Communist era and of Romanian History and Culture in general.
