We had an amazing 3-day safari with Kruger Gateway Safaris and honestly couldn’t recommend it more. Our guide, Gerrie, was outstanding. He knew the park inside out and had such a sharp eye – we saw so much wildlife, including plenty of lions and even a leopard, which was a real highlight. On top of that, we were lucky enough to spot endangered species (African wild dog pups and Southern Ground-Hornbills). Every drive brought something new and incredible. Gerrie took the time to chat and connect with everyone, shared really interesting facts about all of the animals and plants we saw on the way. Gerrie made sure we were always comfortable. He sorted breakfast at the lodge for those early morning starts had blankets, ponchos, and water ready for us on the Jeep. He sent us professional-quality photos he had taken on his camera each day, which was such a bonus. You could also tell he was very respected by other guides and rangers, which says a lot. The lodge was ultra-luxurious, and the restaurant at Kruger Park Lodge was excellent too. If you’re thinking of going on safari, I’d definitely recommend booking private with Kruger Gateway Safaris. It felt personal, special, and gave us memories we’ll never forget.

What a magical time we had! Kruger is a special place but with an experienced and knowledgeable guide like Gerrie we had it’s treasure shown and explained to us - things you don’t get just driving yourself around. We were able to maximise our short trip- with two who had never seen a zebra or any game! To see a huge variety and also enjoy the food , camos and experience of the park without having to worry about which road to take. Super service with photos and opportunities too. Such a rich and worthwhile choice!

Kruger Park is a fantastic place to see wildlife! Gerrie, our guide, enhanced our experience viewing the animals with detailed information of each species. He knew where and when to go and combined with the respect and information shared with other guides gave everyone, their clients and us, a better experience! We saw lions to Rhinos, elephants closeup to baby hyenas and not just one of each species but many. Gerrie really cares about your experience and about the welfare of these animals!

What an absolutely unforgettable experience! Our guide Gerrie was not only incredibly knowledgeable, but also funny, kind, and full of warmth—he truly made the safari feel special from the very first moment. We spent two days with him, and on the second day we experienced something beyond our wildest dreams: in just two hours we saw all of the Big Five, plus a mother cheetah with her four cubs. It felt like living inside a documentary! Even the early mornings were worth it a thousand times over—the excitement, the laughter, and the magical encounters with wildlife made every moment unforgettable. This was without a doubt one of the highlights of our lives. Absolutely recommended for anyone looking for a once-in-a-lifetime adventure!

We have experienced 2 fantastic days with Gerrie. We were a family of 5 with children between 18 and 21. We did 2 full days of safaris and enjoyed the first to the last minute. Of course we were also lucky with 4 leopards and 3 cheetahs but because of Gerrie’s knowledge we could always see it clearly. It was alternately exciting (whether we were going to see the cheetahs properly), cozy, interesting, and relaxed. Highly recommended!

This is our second visit to Africa and the second meeting with Gerrie, and we are convinced that he is the best!!!We travel a long way for the impressions and emotions that we hope to receive ... but safari is a lottery and Gerrie does everything possible and impossible to make us happy!!! He is an extremely kind, friendly and professional guide. Gerrie knows the location of specific animals, their territories, and is always interested in who you want to see first. We had 5 full days of safari and every day made us happy!!! On the first day, we saw four of the big five, and it was definitely thanks to Gerrie!!! We were lucky that the animals often went out on the road and we took a lot of beautiful photos. Gerrie also took amazing photos for us, which he later sent to us on WhatsApp. This time we met your wife, she was wonderful and kind to us. If you want to make the most of your trip, we recommend booking several full days of safari, as one day is not enough to explore the beauty of Africa's wildlife. This trip has been the most incredible experience and has completely surpassed all expectations of a safari. Rufus, our guide, was truly exceptional. He had wonderful knowledge and expertise, constantly engaging and fun, incredibly friendly and accommodating. Every safari outing (2 per day) was unique and amazing. One special moment on our safari was that I proposed to my fiancée (successfully). I asked Rufus what he could do for us and he took to us the most breath taking vista on the park founders’ memorial view point. Rufus pulled out all the stops on that day and was happy to video, set up some drinks and food on the truck and even went of his way to get flowers outside of his work time. It was an unforgettable moment for the pair of us and we can’t show our gratitude enough to Rufus and the Kruger Gateways Safari team.

Gerrie picked us up early in the morning for our safari and was absolutely wonderful imparting his vast knowledge of the animals within Kruger National Park. He made the safari memorable by telling us stories about the animals, flora, and history of the indigenous people. He went out of his way to try and find the big 5, which we almost achieved that day. Luckily we also had booked a panorama tour with him the following day so when we met up with him he gave us a choice, to either find the lions (our last of the big 5), or do the full panorama tour. Obviously, we chose to find the LIONS. I am so grateful for his dedication to making our once in a lifetime experience a fantastic one.
