We had an amazing tour with Keithlyn. He was knowledgeable on the mangroves, the ecosystem, and area plus he was very friendly. We were lucky to be the only couple on the tour so he really catered to our interests. We also did the photo package which felt like our own paparazzi!
So glad you had such a great experience with us! Exploring the mangroves with a small group always makes the tour feel extra special, and we love that you enjoyed the photo package too. Thanks for coming out with us and making memories in the lagoon!
We had a great time in this excursion. We kayak, walked along an island, our guide was very informative, told us much about the mangroves. Touched sea creatures, snorkeled and saw a small shark and lots of fish. Highly recommend and we would do this again.
So happy you had a great time in the mangroves! Sounds like you got to experience a little bit of everything. Thanks so much for coming out with us and we’d love to have you back again someday!
BRETT IS THE BEST TOUR GUIDE!!! So nice and showed us so many cool things!!!
Thank you so much! We’re glad you had such a fun time with Brett and thank you for choosing us!
Brett was a great instructor he knew a lot of history and showed us great spots
Thanks for the great review! We’re glad to hear you enjoyed the tour with Brett and got to experience some great spots. We’ll be sure to share your kind words with him!
Best day on St Thomas. We took a double kayak and were able to talk as we paddled and saw fish. The hike on the island was easy walking and filled with crabs. We sat on the shaded picnic bench and they all seemed to come out even more around us. The breaking shore had tons of urchins so be careful where you walk. Water was warm and breeze was refreshing. When checking in attendant was pleasant and gave us a map of where things were located. I’m glad we brought a cooler I just wish we would have rented snorkeling gear. Great 3 hour adventure.
Hi Jerome! Thank you for the awesome review. We’re so glad you had a fun day exploring Cas Cay. Thank you for spending part of your St. Thomas adventure with us!
Great service, great scenery! This was a phenomenal experience, a must try. We did it without a tour guide it was very easy to navigate!
Thank you for the wonderful review! We’re so glad you had a wonderful experience. It’s great to hear the self-guided option felt easy to navigate - hope to have you back out on the water again soon!
We rented a two man kayak and leisurely paddled through the mangrove to Cas Cay. We saw starfish, sea urchin, jelly fish, stingray, barracudas and beware the manchineel tree. It is deadly. We took our cooler, aquapod for music and sling floats and enjoyed the sand beaches, then joined the group that walked the path to the blow hole. The hermit crabs races were a blast. Seeing Little St. James was creepy. The rock hills are beautiful to photograph. We loved this tour. We also purchased one of their cool hooded rash guard shirts! You can’t go wrong no matter which excursion you choose! The guides were informative, cheerful and helpful. Thank you!! We will be back on our next trip!
Thank you for such a fun and detailed review! It sounds like you had a full adventure exploring the mangroves to Cas Cay — from starfish and barracuda to hermit crab races and the blowhole. 🌿🦀 We love hearing that you enjoyed the guides, the scenery, and even picked up one of our rash guards! We truly appreciate your support and can’t wait to welcome you back for your next island adventure. Warm island regards, The Virgin Islands Ecotours Team
Great experience, totally worth the cost. We were there about 4.5 hours. There were other people around, but it wasn't at all crowded. Shan was the one who gave us instructions and sent us off. She was great. We went on our own because we have been kayaking quite a bit. It was mellow water, so fine for beginners who already have at least the basics, as there was no kayaking instruction with the on-your-own option. Shan gave us a laminated map and clearly explained where we could go, where we could snorkel, and where to go to see the blow hole. The blow hole honestly wasn't all that impressive to us, but all the hermit crabs were! We went to snorkel at Patricia Cay but there were lots of jelly fish, so we went back to Cas Cay and snorkeled there, which was awesome.
Thank you for your thoughtful review and for choosing to explore with us. We’re so glad you enjoyed booking the Explore the St. Thomas Mangrove Lagoon on Your Own option and that your kayaking experience made it a great fit. Shan will be happy to hear your kind words—she does a wonderful job making sure guests feel confident and well prepared before heading out. We appreciate you noting that this option is best for guests who already have kayaking experience, while beginners often enjoy our guided tours where they can learn more, see more, and build skills along the way. The blow hole does vary with ocean swell, so on bigger swell days it can be quite dramatic. We’re glad you found great snorkeling back at Cas Cay and enjoyed the hermit crabs. Thank you for exploring with us, and we hope to welcome you back again.
We like to kayak so it was good for us to be out on our own, but also would have been good with a guide to learn history and such. The guys working the office desk were very nice and helpful.
Thank you so much for your thoughtful review! Our On Your Own Kayak Rental in the St. Thomas Mangrove Lagoon Wildlife Sanctuary and Marine Preserve, located on the southeast end of St. Thomas, is a favorite for guests who enjoy paddling at their own pace and spending quiet time on the water. Many experienced kayakers love the freedom to explore independently, especially in such a peaceful and protected setting. We also find that many guests enjoy doing a guided tour first, learning about the mangroves, wildlife, and history of the lagoon, and then coming back later to explore on their own with a deeper appreciation for what they’re seeing. While kayaking independently is wonderful, our guided tours are something we’re especially proud of, and guests often tell us they end up being the best day of their vacation because of how much they learn while still having fun and adventure. Thank you again for your kind words about our office team and for choosing Virgin Islands Ecotours. If you’re ever back on St. Thomas, we’d love to welcome you again — whether on your own or on a guided adventure.
We had such an amazing time on this tour! It was one of our favorite parts of our entire cruise, and we were happy to end with this one. We are fairly experienced kayakers and it was challenging at parts (unsure if it happened to be a stronger current when we were there) but would actually highly recommend booking with a tour guide! The guides are extremely knowledgeable and kind!! We had Alonzo - if you get him, you are lucky! He gave us such cool information about the mangroves, the history of this part of the island, and we did some cool stuff - held an upside down jellyfish, saw a stingray, lots of barracuda and a bunch of other great stuff. He was fun and interesting, and took great photos!
Thank you so much for this incredible review! We’re thrilled to hear the tour was one of your favorite parts of the entire cruise—that truly means a lot to us. You’re absolutely right that conditions can change, and having a knowledgeable guide makes all the difference. Alonzo will be so happy to hear your kind words! He loves sharing the history of the mangroves and helping guests experience the unique wildlife, from upside-down jellyfish to stingrays and barracuda. We’re also glad you enjoyed the photos and had fun along the way. Thank you for choosing us, and we hope to welcome you back for another adventure!
