Phu Quoc Tour de meio dia com churrasco ao pôr-do-sol e pesca noturna de squid

I decided to make my own way directly to the harbour to pick up the boat for this squid fishing trip. The boot had two decks and there must have been ca. 20 - 30 guests of diverse nationalities. We set off more or less on schedule (ca. 17:30) and we made our way out into the bay , firstly to watch a glorious sunset. Superb. After dusk, they put the ships lights on, apparently to attract the squid and we were all provided with a simple hand reel with a line & a multi hook artificial bait. It then just meant dropping the line over the side and then waiting. Over the course of the next hour or so, some of the guests were lucky and caught the odd squid. I wasn't so lucky, but never mind. A little later, as we gradually got bored with catching nothing, the crew started to set the tables on the lower deck for a simple dinner. This included a tasty noodle fish broth & prawns on skewers. Not really a BBQ, but then again we hadn't caught many squid to grill anyway. Never mind. I was pleased that they had surprisingly decent restrooms on this deck. We made our way back to the harbour and we were on dry land by ca. 20:30. A nice enough evening on the water.

I think dinner could have been better. We were seated with a family from another country and they were greedy about sharing the food. Needless to say, we were just going to eat after the excursion. Would I do this again? Probably not.I found no excitement.

I booked this trip online the night before and made my own way to the harbour where we boarded the boat as my hotel was on the east side of the island. Boarding was easy. I made my way up to the upper deck (two decks on this boat). We must have been about 20 or so guests. We set off on time and headed out into the bay to watch the sunset. It was wonderful. After sunset we were shown how to fish for squid. It was simply a line attached to a cylinder which you held and a colourful multi hooked hook on the other end of the line. All was easy. Some lucky customers caught some modest sized squid which were apparently attracted by the lights on the boat. I wasn't so lucky... A little later the crew prepared the rows of tables on the lower deck for dinner. There weren't many squid for an extensive "BBQ" meal but we did have some prawns on skewers, a delicious fish and rice soup, some noodles and some water melon. We each received a free bottle of water. Beer and other soft drinks cost extra. By the time we had finished our modest meal we were back at the harbour Hardly a half day and I didn't see any BBQ but OK. Oh, and the toilets on board (2?) were passable...

Thus trip was great value for money, and lots of fun. The operator communication was excellent and our pick-up was early. The sunset was terrific and the dinner very enjoyable, but sadly there were few squid around for us to catch!

The experience itself is nice even if among all the people who were there was caught only 1 squid but of course the agency is not to blame! Dinner was acceptable. However, there were 2 problems: - I agreed with the agency to pick up at my hotel and being away from the center rightly I had to pay 300 VND. The driver was supposed to arrive at 4.10pm but arrived at 5pm. The agency apologized saying that because it's New Year's Eve, there's more traffic. - the experience which is described as half day-4 hours- with BBQ and duration about 2.5 hours and of the BBQ not even the shadow.

Compared to the other tour we did with Johns Tours, this one wasn’t quite as top level as an experience. It was still good though, and a really unique experience to be able to fish for squid from a boat. Out of approx 50 people on board only 2 caught something - just to give a realistic idea of your chances! That didn’t hugely bother us though - it was the experience that counted. Watching the sunset was very pretty and relaxing. The food provided after the fishing was quite basic, but plentiful and fresh. There was some difficulty with payment, which may have been down to us arranging it via our hotel to be fair, but nonetheless it was a bit of a hassle. We had to be driven to the tour office after the activity to pay by card. Would still recommend as a unique experience, but it’s a 4 star one for me.

I had a wonderful half-day experience exploring Phu Quoc from the water. The cruise set off just in time for one of the most beautiful sunsets I have seen on the island—soft golden light reflecting across the sea while we relaxed on the deck. The onboard BBQ was a pleasant surprise with fresh, flavorful dishes served hot. The night squid-fishing activity was a fun and unique highlight. Even if you are not an expert, the crew guides you patiently and makes the whole experience enjoyable. The atmosphere on the boat felt warm, friendly, and easy-going, which made the trip even more memorable. Overall, this tour is perfect for anyone looking to enjoy a relaxing sunset, good food, and a bit of local adventure. Highly recommended for solo travelers, couples, and groups alike.

A great experience in Phu Quoc. The sunset cruise was beautiful, the BBQ was tasty, and the night squid fishing was fun. The crew was friendly and helpful throughout the trip.

This company did not pick us up, then blamed weather conditions which were fantastic! Didn’t inform us of any cancellation so totally wasted an evening and an experience that we waited a week for

No one was fishing for squid. The food place is quite cramped and there are too many people on board. It's going to take quite a while for the BBQ to come out. If you don't ask for an optional shellfish meal, the wait is too long. The food is delicious, but it's on board, so it's decent. The guide was very kind and relieved.
