Na noite de 2 de setembro de 1998, o voo 111 da Swissair viajava de Nova York para Genebra com 229 pessoas a bordo — passageiros e tripulação de 16 países diferentes. Por volta das 10h30, cerca de 8 quilômetros da costa, o avião caiu no Oceano Atlântico depois de informar que havia fumaça no cockpit. Tragicamente, ninguém sobreviveu. Pescadores locais e resgatadores das comunidades de Peggy’s Cove e Blandford foram os primeiros a chegar à área. Muitos deles arriscaram suas vidas naquela noite em mares ásperos, na esperança de ajudar. A operação de busca e recuperação que se seguiu foi uma das maiores da história canadense. Titanic Grave Side. (Fairview Cemetery) Este é o cemitério Fairview Lawn, lugar de descanso das 121 vítimas do RMS Titanic. Halifax tornou-se central para a história do Titanic porque era o maior porto mais próximo do local do desastre.Quando navios de recuperação saíram deste mesmo porto em abril de 1912, eles trouxeram de volta 209 corpos. Muitos nunca foram identificados. Aqui, você notará os simples marcadores de granito cinza — alguns com nomes, outros apenas com um número e a data de 15 de abril de 1912. The tour was great but our driver spoke barely english, and gave the minimum information about highlights.

Booked this for 7 people and we were very comfortable in our guide's (Neda?) minivan. She was very knowledgeable and personable. Peggy's cove was beautiful. I would recommend at least 4 hour tour because we could have used more time there. Tom's restaurant was recommended for lobster rolls but it sadly was closed so I wouldn't count on that.

The young man that was our tour guide was very nice, but it was very difficult to understand his accent. He is obviously not a local person and knows very little about the area. He did not seem to know his way around or direct us to what we wanted to see or stop at for lunch. We ended up cutting it short and going directly back to where we had started. It was very unfortunate, but I cannot recommend this tour.

We also accommodated a delay of approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes, and our driver-guide waited for your pickup at the cruise terminal. We understand that weather conditions impacted the experience and that the tour was shortened due to rain. We are also sorry to hear your comments regarding the guide. We had a wonderful experience visiting Peggy‘s Cove with Neda. She was so knowledgeable about the whole area of Halifax and was very informative throughout our entire drive. She even answered all of our questions when we saw things that grabbed our attention. . When it was time for lunch she had great recommendations and even showed us a nice place that was less busy than the tourist spots. We had a group of 7 adults, and we were very comfortable in the minivan. Everyone in our group was impressed and we would highly recommend this tour.

Zuber picked us up promptly from the designated meeting point. He gave us lots of information on the history of Halifax before driving us on the scenic route to Peggy’s Cove. The small group was nice.
